Humble And Fred Radio Website Is Up
October 6, 2011 @ 07:59
Here's the plan. Our first show will be available on the site and on i-tunes next Saturday at noon which is the 15th - and then starting Monday the 17th we're going every weekday, a brand new show will be uploaded mid-day. We plan to do periodic live shows, including video streaming, but that will come once we get comfortable with the new set-up. As for the new set-up, we had a shit load of equipment arrive yesterday and we're going to be testing and workin' out the kinks over the next week or so. It's been quite the experience. It used to be, somebody else would worry about all this stuff, but that's not the way it is now brothers and sisters, we have to do everything ourselves and it's been a lot of fun. We have no idea where this is going to take us, but you know what they say, there's only one way to find out, and it's not like there's not a ton of people knockin' on the door askin' us to do something else. I can guarantee one thing; it's going to be interesting. No restrictions, no strings attached, no regulation and nobody in an office telling us to do stuff they've never done. So far we've reached out to several people to be guests on Humble and Fred Radio and the response has been warm. We'd love to have other radio people on the show to talk about stuff they rarely get to talk about. At the very least be the interviewee as opposed to the interviewer. If you'd like to show some support, here's what you can do. If you haven't already, go to the Humble and Fred Radio facebook page and like us, and then encourage all your friends to like us. Then go to our new website and book mark it. Like anything else, this thing will be survive on numbers, and we need numbers. If not, check kajiji in a few months and you might get a great deal on some equipment.

On Monday and Friday Humble and I visited John Moore in the morning and took part in his 8:45 round table. It was a lot of fun. We talked about current issues with the freedom to poke at them and have a few laughs. We also taped the show Viewpoints which is heard Saturday afternoons at three, and repeated Sundays at six. Things went so well we've been invited to come back on a regular basis, probably every Monday morning and special occasions like next Friday, the morning after the provincial election. I'm pumped, I love post election stuff and there's a great attitude at Newstalk 1010 about looking at the lighter side. After all, the average Joe ain't always serious, serious, serious, so why should the issues be portrayed that way. It's a great association that could grow even more (details to be announced) but for the time being Humble and I will provide content on Moore's show in exchange for Humble andFredRadio.com plugs. Talk about progressive thinking. John Moore and Program Director Mike Bendixon should be commended. They've embraced and support what we're doing and it's great to be part of what they're doing. Newstalk 1010 is getting younger, fresher and more irreverent - a reflection of their bright young Program Director and crew of great people. And on that note, what a thrill it was to sit in the same studio as John Moore and Jim Richards on Friday. I've been a fan of both men for a long time, so to sit there and bang around the issues with these two and Howard was a special moment. Yea, it was a great week - not only did we do this; we also got the our studio painted. Category: Radio

I've received literally hundreds of e-mails and messages over the past two or three years from people who are looking for something more scoped and designed to their specific tastes. Well listen here, the product can be created but "you" need to support it. We now have the simple technology and delivery systems to make it work from the production side but people need to commit on the receiving side. Spread the word; faithfully download to create some viable numbers for advertising. In the case of Humble and Fred Radio, the service will be free, but you'll also have the choice to support it financially. How would you like to buy a Humble and Fred share? An actual certificate delivered to your computer that gives you special privileges. Like weekends at my trailer or golf lessons from Humble. Essentially, put your ears, and money if you wish, where your mouth is. These are the things "you" are going to have to do if you really want something different in Toronto and Canada. First a radio show, and then maybe a radio station - a station that doesn't need millions of listeners to be viable. Only a few thousand (several thousand actually) - but we guarantee, it will be a kick-ass radio station that will never ever have a serious "Hollywood entertainment report." Instead, we'll mock the shit out of it all - with absolutely no restrictions - hear that, no restrictions! And we promise not to make you sit through a bunch of songs you don't like, just to hear a song you do like. You can program your own music, I'm sure you already are, Humble and Fred Radio will look after the talk side. Delivery systems are changing at a meteoric pace and we're on the verge of being able to receive on-line content anywhere, any time. Soon car radios will have the ability to stream and you'll be able to listen to exactly what you want when you want. It's all pretty exciting, and all very doable. But we must work together. Humble and Fred Radio doesn't have a big radio conglomerate behind it, so we've got to do it the new way, the fun way, the viral way. Now, without sounding any more like a politician lets me leave you with this. Like any venture a business plan must be developed, a financial forecast must be considered and proper execution is a must and that's what we're doing right now. If this is going to be done, it's got to be done right. I would ask that on your own particular facebook and twitter networks that you ask you're your friends to support Humble and Fred Radio. And this includes any former Humble and Fred or "Spirit of Radio" listeners who have done well over the past two decades and are looking to "support the arts." Florching is an art. I mean it, the work starts now. Please spread the word, it's vital in reaching the next step. Please book mark humbleandfredradio.com and then go to our facebook page and "like" it. Get goin!. Thank you, and good day. More details will be released daily. Category: Radio
