Needless to say, this has created a sea of controversy, but at the end of the day it's a matter of choice.
Individual choice, and its nobody else's business.
Another one of those studies.
Lose accent, culture to succeed, visible minorities believe: study
This is so typical of Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty. He loves to tackle issues that he can eventually blame on the federal government.
An immature meeting with Quebec Premier Jean Charest is exactly what Baird says it was. "All talk and no action."
It's an attempt by two premiers to appear they're tackling an issue, when in reality there's nothing they can do.
They would better serve the people of their provinces by letting the federal government continue with its sensible, rational approach to the whacked out hysteria which is global warming.
Yes, only in Canada. Read and weep.
CanadianThinker finds it ironic that if this movie was called "Young People Killing" there would no issue, no story, no reaction.
How ridiculous that a movie about the sex lives of young adults could cause such a stir, even if it does have a shocking title.
CanadianThinker is amused by the latest report released by Amnesty International.
Among other things, Canada is sighted for its mistreatment of refugees and the use of tasers and singled out for discrimination against aboriginals and anti-terrorism legislation.
We find it bewildering, that of all the human rights violations taking place around the globe, the world's greatest country is targeted.
Ironically, the preferred destination of just about anyone looking to escape oppression and discrimination.
This couple is so dumb, you'd swear they were American.
Just six months ago Dalton McGuinty said he wasn’t in favour of banning cell phone use in cars, but now he’s looking for at developing legislation that will cover all car electronics like GPS systems and blackberries.
Some argue that his type of legislation will be hard to enforce and that’s true. Some feel that police have enough to do without driving around looking for people using cell phones in their cars.
But that’s over-thinking the situation.
Laws should put in place to be used if needed. If a cop happens to see a driver using a phone, then he/she should have the option of writing them up.
If an accident is caused by the use of a cell phone and there are witnesses, then it should be used against the driver.
One handed drivers is an increasing problem in the province and it’s got to be addressed.
This is not one of those issues that should be used by the opposition to pick holes in the sitting government. The practice is dangerous and its only getting worse.
It’s time to start cracking down.
CanadianThinker also agrees with the Ontario Premier when it comes to his opposition to the proposed carbon tax by federal Liberal leader Stephane Dion.
You have to wonder who’s running the show for Dion.
The carbon tax idea is silly and unrealistic, but he’s pushing forward with it and plans to make it the basis of his campaign for the next election.
Thank goodness Dalton McGuinty is following in the footsteps of the Prime Minister by bringing some sense and rationale to the issue. McGuinty realizes that Canadians are already stretched to the limit and imposing a carbon tax will only make the situation worse while damaging the economy.
It’s a bold move when you consider McGuinty is a liberal. But it tells you how flakey and misguided Dion is.
We’d love to sit in a Liberal strategy meeting and just take it all in. Sit there and listen to Dion as he insists this is the way to go even though is approval rating is heading towards zero and Canadians overwhelmingly don’t want a goddamn carbon tax.
There’s no explaining it.
Toronto Mayor David Miller has had some weird ideas during his reign of nonsense, but this is way over the top.
Now the mayor has called for the closure of two target shooting ranges on city property.
It’s absolutely unbelievable how Miller runs around the city pointing fingers at everything but the root cause of so-called gun violence in the city.
He’s more than willing to close down a couple of shooting ranges denying law abiding citizens of some recreation, but he refuses to identify the thug element from a certain cultural group that’s responsible for most of the “gun violence” in the city.
Does the man who was given the responsibility of running the city really believe that closing these ranges will do “anything” to stop crime?
If he does, if that what he really thinks, then he’s not fit to be mayor.
This guy has to grow some big balls and tackle the real problem. Go after the actual perpetrators and once and for all get it through his head that guns don’t kill people, people kill people.

It's not often that Canada makes a big impact on the world stage, but every so often along comes a Canadian who stands above the crowd.
Such is the case with Taylor Fuchs.
What are the chances that a young fella from White City, Saskatchewan could become the world's most successful male model?
It's quite the accomplishment, and quite the name.
World's top male model from Saskatchewan
A study in the spring edition of the journal "Substance Use and Misuse", has determined that Canadians of all shapes, sizes and backgrounds enjoy the recreational use of marijuana.
Imagine that!
It's no secret that the Canadian senate is nothing more than a lucrative retirement home for the non-productive, but it really hits home when things like this come along.
British Columbia Senator Larry Campbell plans to draft a bill designed to keep the National Football League out of Canada, specifically Toronto.
It's the same old story, looking for something to do, the Senator will use this issue to pound his chest and claim he's protecting a Canadian institution, namely the CFL.
But there's a problem here. Nobody cares enough, and the lack of response from the average CFL fan since the announcement that the Buffalo Bills would play several games in Toronto over the next five years, tells you all you need to know about the supposed love for the Canadian league.
Having the Bills play in Toronto is considered a major breakthrough for football fans in Southern Ontario, but its caused barely a whimper of protest across the rest of the country.
Who exactly does Senator Campbell think he's acting on behalf?
His time would be better spent staying home and collecting his fat pay cheques, like the rest of his friends in the Senate.
What a wonderful country Canada is. When the sole purpose in the life of a 25 year old is to protest the use of skateboards on city streets, you know its a great country.
Using the environment as an excuse, and bicycles as a comparison Lee Breen of Fredericton, New Brunswick will go to jail rather than paying a fine for riding his skateboard through traffic.
CanadianThinker would like to go along with Breen's noble statement on skateboards, but we know how aggravating they can be on sidewalks, let alone amongst traffic.
Cars and bicycles are vehicles, skateboards are not and should definately not be the social statement of a 25 year old.
