Masochists

September 16, 2011 @ 15:16

Have to laugh at a couple of stories in the news today, and they both come out of the Toronto, the city in which I grew up, and the city which I still love.

I don't live in Toronto now, but doesn't mean I don't care and it certainly doesn't mean I can't have an opinion. But really, what the hell is the matter with you people?

Two stories have surfaced this wee that are extremely bewildering.

The first one deals with Mayor Rob Ford and his so called plummeting in the polls since he started to tackle Toronto's budget woes.

Yes, there are some tough pills to swallow, but what is the alternative. The Toronto whine brigade, of which there are far too many, act like a bunch of spoiled children.

They bitch and complain about budget cuts and service cuts with total disregard for the issue at hand. The city simply can't pay for it all anymore. To many years of wild spending and deficits begged for someone to come in and fix it, yet the man willing to roll up his sleeves and get it done, is getting pissed on.

Are people really that dense that they can stare in the face of fiscal insanity, watch their city fall into a gaping whole of debt and do nothing about it?

Do people have to be told that a city is like any other business or any other household for that matter? You shouldn't spend more than you bring in, and at some point the bleeding has to stop, regardless of how painful it is.

I'm convinced to a large extent this issue has become personal. It's not so much the cuts that people don't like; it's the guy who's making them. But what bothers me, is the dislike for the man seems to be spreading when all he's doing is what needs to be done.

He's doing what apparently got him elected, yet event those who elected him are jumping ship.

The second story of the week I'll keep short and sweet. It seems the city of Toronto is turning on Progressive Conservative leader Tim Hudak and throwing their support behind Dalton McGuinty again. Recent polls show a dramatic turn around in Toronto.

Eight years of lies, deceit and neglect for Toronto has had no impact on the very people its affected. Dalton McGuinty has been bad for Toronto, yet Toronto keeps inviting him in.

I'll say it again, what the hell is the matter with you people?

Hudak makes it easy for Mr. Teflon by running a weak campaign. Hudak's advisers suck the big one.

The only consolation, we most likely end up with a minority government and if Mr. Tax Man gets in, the opposition can put on the brakes on some of his stupid ideas.

Freddie,

Take a look at this excerpt of your text:

They bitch and complain about budget cuts and service cuts without total disregard . . . .

I think you mean to say, "with total disregard . . ."

Or, am I not reading it right?

Like many others I am a former Torontonian who still works and parties in the city. For the most part I agree with the cuts he is making. They have to be made for the city to go forward. However, he campaigned on cutting out the "gravy" and not services. Well, the "gravy" never materialised (at least to the extent that was projected)so he is now forced to cut services. He has not been totally honest with the electorate and they are running scared.

As Bob B says, Hudak and the PC's are running a very weak campaign. With McGuinty's track record the PC's should be miles ahead in the poles. Too many missteps and other then pointing out what Mcguinty has done wrong he has not send what the PC's would do. Not a very good campaign strategy. Looking forward to the debate.

Interesting to note that the poll that shows the majority against Ford's actions was commissioned by none other than CUPE. Gee, wonder why they might like to portray Ford in a negative light? And, as anybody that knows anything about the poll business is aware, the buyer can more or less guarantee the results they're looking for. It's a slanted, paid-for result.

Fred, you seem to hold Dalton McGuinty to a much higher standard than Rob Ford when it comes to lies. Where's the gravy? Where are all the efficiencies he was going to find? Didn't he say in his campaign he could balance the budget without service cuts?

Ford was a councillor for ten years before he became mayor, so he should have had a good idea about where the city's money was going. So was he lying during the campaign, or is he just that stupid?

There simply isn't a reasonable Conservative anywhere to be found within Toronto, or half the GTA. Hudak, meanwhile, looks like one of those guys who used to shove me around back in middle school since he had 20 pounds and a year or two over me.
Who is my PC candidate in High Park? Don't know - doesn't matter.
Why can't there be a un-frigid, just make the fiscal cuts out of plain responsiblity while not adding your own largeness schemes type?
Lock-out. Why can't any Conservative support a lockout situation to bring fiscal sanity back. And I dare anyone to WALK along my revised streets of Central West Toronto in 2011. No Conservative will ever vote against the construction swells and all their projects.

Well Fred, looks like KPMG suggestions have helped so many other countries. Their suggestion was so far off in Melbourne. Adam Vaughn made KPMG look like children

Once again Fred has no problem with Rob Ford lying, but will take any liberal to task for it. Get over yourself Fred and realize that as much as you say anyone sitting on the left has blinders on you not only have blinders on, but sunglasses too.

Aren't these lefties paying attention to the state of affairs in Greece these days. If someone had cut spending, there would be no debt crisis. Do they want us to step as close to the edge as possible?

Who is this guy Hudak, and where is he?

The PC commercials show McLiar's face and talk about tax... in my veg state in front of the TV, all I remember at the end of the commercial is McGuinty.

What kind of people are running the PC campaign? Are they all on the Liberal payroll?

This campaign was a slam dunk, all you had to do was show up and you could win... this Mcguinty has shown to be the biggest liar in political history... we kicked Bob Rae out for tripling the deficit and here we are with Mcguinty shattering the Rae numbers and yet he may get in again... are the people of Ontario that fucking stupid. WAKE UP EVERYONE. THIS MONSTER MUST BE STOPPED.

We all watched John Tory commit political suicide with his funding of religious schools and all the Liberals had to say was 'We will not be funding muslim or jewish schools, and wham he won again. The PC's campaign spin doctors should have all lost their jobs forever... but apparently they are still there, coming up with more lame bullshit.

To win this election, all Hudak had to say was this 'I will remove the HST from gasoline' (like B.C) and he would have won. That's all he had to say. He does say he will remove it from hydro, but that's not enough, obviously!

Throw the HST aside for a minute, Mcliar handed Hudak the big hammer to plow the liberal into the dirt with, and where is Hudak? Similar to the Tory fiasco of religious schools getting money, Mcliar has said he will give tax credits to businesses who hire new immigrants to Canada... WHAT? Where is HUDAK? This liberal bomb went viral on the social networks where all I read were comments about people looking for work, and now they will have a tougher time because people new to this country will get the job first. People who have never paid taxes, or any money into our social programs will be chosen ahead of me, and I have 30 years of paying into the system. WHAT? HOW CAN THIS BE?

Someone send this to the PC campaign office... HUDAK, to win, all you have to do is this... take the HST of gas, and say that the PC's will have nothing to do with immigrants getting jobs before long standing Ontarians, and you will give tax credits to employers who hire the right person for the job.

The liberals have moved us into a debt position that will take decades to recover from, the liberals have broken every promise they made, the liberals have pushed tax after tax and more tax through the system. ENOUGH! WE CAN'T PAY ANYMORE!

The PC party are showing themselves to the dumbest bunch of idiots in political history.

Green party here I come. Everyone vote for the Green party this election. With the Green party, at least the Mega Quarry will be stopped, and the Provinces drinking water won't be in jeopardy.

Green Party here we come.
