If you read this blog enough you know that my buddy Toronto Mike doesn't like the Harper Conservatives.

Like most on the far left, he can't give you any tangible reasons why we should vote for someone else, he just attacks Harper because he doesn't like him. Mike buys into all the bullshit about hidden agendas, and hating the poor and being in the back pocket of big business. eating babies and killing kittens.

It really is tiresome, because if guys like Mike took the time to actually scratch below the surface and realize that in a big person's world, everything isn't as simple as it looks, and sometimes shit happens, they'd conclude that Stephen Harper has been a pretty good leader for this country.

By the way, Mike will vote NDP or Liberal, whatever he strategizes to be the best way to prevent a Harper majority.

And you know what, all of that is cool as long you balance it with some degree of rationale. Of course my detractors will argue that I'm not balanced, but hey people, my guy's in charge and the country's in great shape and the polls say Harper is heading towards a majority. That's all I need.

The other side would have you believe that there's a better solution, and that's what scares me, and in this case deeply concerns me about my sad friend Toronto Mike.

On his website Mike has posted something called "Shit Harper Did". It's a collection of headlines about the horrible things Stephen Harper has done over the past five years. It's ridiculous actually, because if you go beyond the headlines provided and read the stories behind them you'll realize the site is designed for you to take things out of context and jump to conclusions. That's what's clever (?) about it.

I assume they want you to go to the site, read their hysterical headlines and then not bother to read the linked story. It's a slimy tactic.

But that's not what bothers me the most. This does.

At the bottom of the website "Shit Harper Did" there is a banner that reads, "There are better options this election" and then it has the logos of all the other parties, including the Bloc.

Is that what it's come to Mike for you and your whimpering whining bunch of anti-cons. You'll endorse a website that actually endorses the Bloc Quebecois over the Conservative Party of Canada?

Are you that selfish in your unfounded hatred of the Conservatives that you'd actually endorse a party that stands for the break-up of your country?

Is your NDP cocooning that thick that you'd link to a site that not only pronounces things like "Stephen Harper doesn't know the difference between people from India and First Nations people" but also allows that the Bloc is a viable alternative?

(if you want to see the site "Shit Harper Did" google it yourself. I've got too much pride to link to a site that endorses the Bloc)

I hate his politics as much as yours.

The main page of the website has actually an article about these stupid videos going viral and a link to 2 videos is also provided.

I watched them both. To me it's just a bunch of kids who have nothing better to do and most likely haven't got a clue what's actually happening on the political landscape.

@TO Mike, the longer this election campaign drags on the more I have come to the realization that you're not nearly as smart as I once thought.

Endorsing treason is rock bottom, even for a guy like Mike.

Enough with this treason BS. Any province or state may leave said Dominion or Union. Do your homework.

@Mike Lowville

Why am I not surprised by your attitude. Scary stuff.

Mike & Mike, a classic pair of fools!

Harpsicord is looking at a majority? Toronto is screwed. Our red city won't get a cent in pork droppins. As long as we aren`t put in another Police State we`ll be ok tho.

April 15, 2011 / 10:41

There is one reason the anti Harper sentiment is rising. It`s because folks are starting to realize this guy just might get his elusive majority & now they are panicking.

Ya know what`s funny? If Harper gets a minority it'll be the end of him. His replacement will be someone without a past & one that will appeal to Canadians. The result will be a monster Conservative majority. Unlike the Liberals, the Conservatives HAVE future leaders waiting....

We're witnessing the end of the Liberals.

Bull shit is the glue that holds society together. This blog has fell to this level. Fred, aren't your knee's sore from the daily blow job you give Harper? His party isn't the worse, he's a shitty leader. No matter who wins the election, we as Canadians will still get screwed on a regular bases. Yes the Bloc should go. The only way they should be allowed to exist is if they run candidates in every province. Like that will ever happen. Toronto Mike, who the fuck is he and why does anybody even care. At least Fred might spend a minute thinking before he starts banging out his I love Harper crap. By the way has Harper done anything about the rising gas prices. He said a few years ago he would. Could he have bull shitted us? Got to go, time to burn some more Hab sweaters.

@Irvine - I agree with you it is possible Harper would bail in the event of another minority. It seems you are pretty knowledgeable about the party, who do you think would be a strong candidate to replace him, that would appeal to all Canadians?

April 15, 2011 / 15:16

Hey Fred - instead of jumping up and down screaming about it, why don't you be constructive and refute some of their claims?

April 15, 2011 / 15:49

Can't refute the truth.-

El Torpedo
April 15, 2011 / 16:33

Mikey and Anonymous - refuting is pointless and wasted energy. Admit it. If someone posted 10 solid links for each point on that site that completely debunked every one, you still wouldn't trust or vote for Harper.

The problem with Mike and people of the Gen Y crowd is that they think they are "special" and therefore morally superior to the rest of us. It's okay to pack 40 of them into a bus bound for Toronto, then cut them loose to wreak havoc on the streets, setting fires, breaking windows, smashing cars. It's okay, because they've exercised their rights as citizens, even though they've caused a lot of damage. And making a point is so necessary, when you're always right. It's okay to support legions of untrained cyclists to race through the downtown core, not using signals, not wearing the proper protective gear, cutting off drivers and pedestrians, and in some cases, driving drunk. But that's okay for Gen Y, because being "green" is
morally superior to following the rules. And so much of their activism is characterized by anger. What have these people got to be angry about? They've led untroubled lives, their parents spoiled them. They've experienced nothing in their lives like what's happening in Japan or Egypt or the Ivory Coast now, yet you'd think with all the signs for protests that this country was run by Robert Mugabe. Idiots!

Fred, I'm not a liberal or a Gen Y, X or member of any anti-conservative fringe group. But I'd be surprised if you have any friends left if that's the way you treat them.

Sure, there's room for polite, intelligent discussion between friends in opposing political camps but all I see here is loud-mouthed trash-talkin'. Not much Canadian Thinking going on here.
