Habs Watch - Two Down, Two To Go

May 18, 2010 @ 23:06

Message to the Montreal Canadians - to win in the National Hockey League, one must score at least one goal per game.

Scoring involves taking the little black disk and depositing it into the net, the net being the red frame at the end of the rink with mesh attached.

One must also realize that you will not be matched in all games against a team with a similar style to yours. Some teams, like the Flyers, actually prefer to play in the middle of the ice, crowd the net and go into the corners.

Matchups can be a very interesting thing in professional sport, for example, the Toronto Maple Leafs would probably matchup better against the Flyers than you do. The Leafs have a little more push than you do.

But that's silly for me to even bring up because unlike you, the Leafs didn't manage to slither into the playoffs on the final day of the season thanks to the NHL's new math.

It's also good practice to appreciate that when the horseshoe falls out of your goaltenders ass it can get ugly. It can be rather disappointing to see the most innocent shots get by him when only a week ago he was stopping things he didn't even see.

Once a god, now a goat.

That just about does it, but I must end with a question. Why isn't Mike Cammalleri playing in this series?

Have any of the high paid hockey pundits---and I include Don Cherry, Bill Watters, Nick Kiprios, Bob McKenzie, and Fred Patterson-- mentioned the Pronger factor?
Ducks, Oilers and now Flyers. Must be more than a coincidence. 2 teams here that never were and never will be...Ducks excepted in their Cup run as they were the team that year.

Leighton's doing a Hasak.
But not quite a 'giant' killer. Next round he'll get his chance.

Freeway.. let's leave the Leaf's stellar playoff record out of this.. this is about the Habs, who's luck has run out. What a shame!

@ Jake

you are right on....neither the Caps or Pens (2010) have that shut-down defence pair that Stanley Cup calibre teams have..mind you the Pens had that shut-down pair in Orpik & Scuderi in 2009 to go all the way ...Pronger and Timonen are doing a fantastic job...lets examine the Habs shut-down capabilities on D

The Habs are the worst team on 5 on 5 play remaining in the playoffs.

Their -(minus)players have a combined
-48

The sharks are next at -33

True Habs have lost the first two games against Philly.

They may not get to the Stanley Cup finals but the Canadiens have had a great post season run.

I'm a Leaf Fan, I admit it. I cheered the Caps only because I wanted the Habs to lose. I cheered the Pens because I like many of their players.
I would have cheered the Habs in this round. Other than a player or two they are a likable bunch of players. BUT I HATE the Hab Fans too much to do it! Isn't that a shame!
The first time I run into a few after them beating the Pens out, they are on me because I am a Leaf’s fan! No wonder I hate them. Of course when I asked if they made it down to Montreal to celebrate in the riots they shut up long enough for me to walk away!

Although Halak's goaltending has gone south against the Flyers, Hab fans can take some solice in the fact that he is now tied for the most goals and most assists for the HABS against the Flyers in round three.

This blog is exactly reason why we mention the Leafs not even making the playoffs. Hey, I said Leafs and playoffs in the same sentence!

The Habs have had a great run this year and it's not over yet.

Go Habs Go

Nigel & Ed, you have got it nailed! It's not about slagging the team with reminders of past failings, there is no humour in that.

Oh, are the 'Ab fans still on the bandwagon, can someone check, we dont want any broken ankles when they start jumping off.

Ole, ole ole ole, ole, ole! Must really sting for those idiot Habs fans to hear another team's fans mock them! I LOVE IT!! Who cares if the Habs knocked off the Caps & Pens, does it mean they win the Cup? NO!! Haven't won a Cup in soon to be 18 years--that's not exactly fantastic, now is it??? HABS SUCK!!

Buffalo Boy Mike

My god man, the Habs are 0 for the series, haven't scored a goal in 120 minutes and their fans are still blind to the fact that they are 2 games down, they think justbecause they did it against a silly shit team like the bruins they can do it against every one. Hab fans...I hope you are ready because the sweep is coming

Who in hell concluded creating a mosque at ground zero appeared to be wise? I am not really a great fan of either Glen Beck or Sarah Palin but as opposed to Obama and the supremely idiotic governing administration, these two are prodigies, come on The states, there's some weird stuff happening.
