I don't have a dog in the Leaf/Hab scrap. In fact, most of the time I envision the 2 old guys in the TD Canada Trust ads arguing about who got the hottest girl in high school - when there were only 4 other guys in the whole school. Eventually each of them would get their shot.
I came across a quote today that applies. It's in today's Daily Mail (UK) and is from Raffi Torres of Liverpool, whose fans face a dilemma this weekend: Beat Chelsea on the penultimate weekend tomorow and they'll seriously improve the chances of arch rivals Man(IO)U (their relationship makes TOR-MTL look like Kindergarten) winning the League for the 19th time, surpassing their own side's 18 times. Here's what he says:
'At all clubs, the fans really hate their rivals and keep an eye on their results. But one of the problems we always had at Atletico was that the fans were too focused on Real Madrid; that was symbolic of our bad times.
'When you're not achieving anything, you focus on your rivals and hope they lose. But you reach the point where you think it's time we looked at our results and left Real Madrid alone.
'If your fans want you to lose, it's a sign that your team has nothing to play for. And when that dawns on you, it hurts.'

True Fred if the Habs don't bring home the Stanley Cup it will be the 17th consecutive spring with no parade.
As David's post points out focusing too much on rivals demise is symptom of your own teams lack of ability.
Hopefully next year the Leafs will able to provide you fodder for positive posts about your favourite team.
One day your parade will come and when it does I will be happy for Leaf Nation.

The bottom line here is are the Habs REALLY going to win a cup this year... no, they're not. Everyone and dog knows this. So all of these comments going back and forth are irrelevant because, again, the bottom line is they're not going to win a cup and that is the point of playing in the playoffs. There are too many teams still in it and WAY too many hurtles/games for these players on Montreal to overcome. All Montreal fans know this is true and it's just wishful thinking, fingers crossed and little bit of luck at this point that keeps them barking. Once Montreal is out of these playoffs you'll hear "well at least we made it this year and The Leafs didn't." Again, everyone knows that the Leafs aren't in the playoffs... that's fine. We can deal with that. Mentioning it again and again is just sounding more and more like a broken record.
The bottom line to The Habs Watch is waiting for them to lose and NOT win the cup.

Any of you guys follow GSL Season 3 news? As the Ro32 moved from half to three quarters complete interesting matchups for the next round began to be set. The only non-Korean Asian player, BlizzCon runnerup Yi 'Loner' Dai, moved on to a potential matchup with SlayerSBoxeR in the Ro16. Seems like Ameriie is really switching up her style in her latest songnamed Outside Your Body! Amerie's heading back to her Korean roots in her track, fusing rhythm & blues with K-pop! This intergalactic song sounds amazing on my MP3 player and I really can't wait for her video to drop.
