Montreal has been a mess too, and have not been the team of glory since the 70's. Sure they won in 86, and Roy stole one in 92. But numbers dont lie, the Habs have not been much different than the Leafs over the past 20 years. Glory days are gone. The Leafs have not made the playoffs in 6+ seasons yet their win totals are about the same! Past 10 Years: Past 20 Years: Montreal will never be the glory franchise ever again, and time will fade their great years from memory pretty soon. Go Washington!

I agree. Easy to be selective, but the most relevant stat is that the Leafs finished second-last in a 30 team league, traded away a second o/a pick and haven't played a post season game in five years. The Habs finished 19th and made the playoffs. There are (if you want to use the standings) 18 teams better than the Habs. There are 28 better than the Leafs and the real shame is they have absolutely nothing to show for that abysmal finish. The league has a system (the draft) in place to help weak teams get stronger. That system (very socialist, by the way LOL) has worked (twice) for Pittsburgh and also, over the years, for Tampa and San Jose. Trading that pick was, IMHO, a really short-sited move.
