Agree with you 100 %. I live in Mississauga but did live in Downtown Toronto in my younger years and still care about the city. What has happened to this great city's infrustructure is criminal. I know it's not all Miller's fault because Mel Lastman preferred to freeze taxes rather than repair and modernize vital utiities such as water, sewers, roads, etc.
Rob Ford is a no frills politician and would be a great mayor, provided he will get the councillor's support. Of course, for this to happen the people of Toronto need to get rid of some of the left wing NDP'ers and vote in some new blood, provided any new ones are running.
Go Rob Go.

Here's the problem; the Mayor of Toronto is only one vote on council. The reason that doofus Miller is able to force through his whacked-out leftist agenda so often is because the vast majority of councillors are card-carrying NDPers. They support him and his wasteful goals. If Rob Ford ever managed to get elected, he would be handcuffed by a hostile council and public unions who hate his guts for blowing the whistle on their incompetence. And you just know that just about every one of these clowns will be re-elected by an apathetic public. Sadly, as much as Toronto needs a Rob Ford, the result would be even more dysfunctional than the current mess.

I know Rob on a business level and I can a sure you he runs his label business the same as he runs his council budget. I was one of his vendors for a number of years he always wanted more for the dollar and do what it took to get it. I think the idea is a great one but just look to Barrie to see what problems this type of Mayor can cause .

This city is foul thanks to Miller's mismanagment. Imagine letting garbage rot in the streets for weeks! Frankly, Ford's bombastic style is a concern, but at least he isn't afraid to be transparent. A few years back, a certain city council candidate told me he would not discuss his politics, because he was more concerned with the work necessary to make my neighbourhood livable. I was impressed by him, but looking back I should have known I was being duped by the NDP. That's not going to happen again, especially with a mayoral candidate.

As a Toronto tax payer, I'd take anyone over Miller and his ilk but I'm not convinced Ford is the way to go.
Sure he's done some great stuff with his ward and stirs up the crap on Council...thank God for that as I'm stuck with Bussin and her need for the city to pay her legal bills...but I think Ford would turn into a Mayor Mel.
Sure he'd start of strong but would eventually end up as a caricature of himself by mid-term.
At some point you know he's going to put his foot in it like Mel and the "Cannibals of Africa" remark.
As it currently stands, there is once again no clear person to go with…but Ford is not the answer in the long term and that’s what we need. Someone for the long term.

Steve is dead on...Rob Ford as mayor wouldn't change anything until council is rid of at least some of the Miller loyalists. Even if he did win, and he won't, the only benefit would be the huge council meeting ratings on Rogers Cable 10.
I'd rather have Ford outside the tent pissing in than inside the tent trying to piss out.
Rob wouldn't even be considering this if John Tory wasn't the hothouse flower of politics.
