I sent an email in complaining of exactly what lorrie says..to the star. Keep in mind i subscribe to the paper as i overall enjoy various sections..i subscripe daily...but...do i enjoy the liberal slant? no..would i enjoy a conservative slant..since i lean that way? nope to that either..what happened to impartial bias that they taught me during grade six school newspaper writing...?
I read that article and thought hmm? an area of poverty and violence with 99.999% visible black people involved in crime and living in those areas...and police stop visible black people to try and solve and prevent crime..duh?
What a silly and stupid waste of several large pages of the paper...its like pointing out the obvious of the obvious.

They have to believe that they find racism in every pocket of our society, look at the crap that came out of Ryerson this week, talk about having to dig deep to even find a smidgen of intolerance. Ryerson couldn't be farther from the truth, highly diversified student body, it's the usual NDPers at the public trough pulling for these things, to get their own a little academic work to put on their CV. Now maybe if it was one of the mostly white private schools being accused then maybe they might have a hint of legitimacy, but just a hint.

Maybe the geniuses at the Star didn't read their own year-end rundown of Toronto's 2009 murder victims, photos included. At least 90% were young, black males. No doubt, they were all just starting to turn their lives around, too.
Whether it's gangs or terrorism, we need more profiling, not less.

When you have an opportunity to prove your worth above those of others, it is necessary to put in the best. Remember that there will always be competition. The cover letter is the only means through which you can outwit all other applicants. A lot of job applicants will find these samples of utmost importance because they are aware of the fact that this is what will take them to where they desire.

Never exceed 2 pages; employers will throw your CV to the bin if they find a CV that exceeds 2 pages. So make the full use of the page, do not leave any blank spaces on your CV.
October 31, 2010 / 09:51
Well, I don’t know if that is going to work for me, however definitely proved helpful for you! :) Excellent post!

The Universal CV can be a mix of all of the above. If you are confused about which CV to use this is the safest one to present to prospective employers. Choosing this format is usually the best way to get the attention you deserve if you are writing your own CV. This CV will display the pertinent information you need in order to be chosen for an interview.

The beauty of these blogging engines and CMS platforms is the lack of limitations and ease of manipulation that allows developers to implement rich content and 'skin' the site in such a way that with very little effort one would never notice what it is making the site tick all without limiting content and effectiveness.
November 13, 2010 / 03:02

Good points…I would note that as someone who really doesn’t write on blogs much (in fact, this may be my first post), I don’t think the term “lurker” is very becoming to a non-posting reader. It’s not your fault in the least , but perhaps the blogosphere could come up with a better, non-creepy name for the 90% of us that enjoy just reading the content .

Follow these guidelines to assist you in customising your applications so that it gets noticed.
November 25, 2010 / 10:16
It goes without saying that any sample curriculum vitae assign a final section to an individual description which is intended to design a professional profile of the candidate; valuable information relies on personal skills, particular abilities, for instance applying for a computer-based position, you definitely need to mention actual computer literacy abilities and the numerous applications you are competent to use. A good sample curriculum vitae must give you an illustration to follow, especially for those very young and totally inexperienced.
November 25, 2010 / 21:50
No matter how skilled or experienced you are in the market - you will always come up against the same issue every time. The competition. For every position or vacancy there are many more people trying to get the same job. You know however that - in every case if you could just get in from of the interviewer you will get the job.
