January 13, 2010 / 12:31
Brilliant Freddie!
January 13, 2010 / 12:40
I look at this in a different angle. Haiti falls on the earthquake zone. If anything else, they need assistance with building infrastructures capable of resisting earthquake. Japan has more earthquake occurances than any country, but they are prepared.
January 13, 2010 / 12:43
I don't think God hates Haiti
January 13, 2010 / 13:00
God uses you as an example of what happens when your a narrow minded insultive fool. Its why the rest of your CFNY buddies still work in Toronto and Cancouver and you work in the sticks in a small market. You are Gods example of a failure by your own doing
January 13, 2010 / 13:06
Where is Cancouver? I might want to work there. God willing.
January 13, 2010 / 13:50
The post is about Haiti and the tragedy there, not small minded cheap shots at the author. Not God, when you have something constructive to add to the conversation, please join in. If you have a bone to pick with Fred, that's terrific, but pick a better time and place for your personal platitudes.
Oh! and bite my crank while you're at it. God bless.
January 13, 2010 / 13:53
Not God - How is Freddie being "insultive" when all he's doing is just stating actual facts and asking a legitimate question? (Mind you, he'll never get the answer he's looking for, but that's beside the point).
Who wouldn't be curious about this stuff? Another example that hits home with me personally; why would God strike down someone who's a big worshipper of his, someone who has dumped a lot of their hard earned money into the church for years with terminal cancer at such a young age? If you ask me, that's a jack if I've ever known one!
Not God, maybe you should be the one to take a long hard look in the mirror only to see a "narrow minded fool" looking back at him.
You putz. Go back to Cancouver.
January 13, 2010 / 13:53
Don't fuck with "GOD"!!!!
January 13, 2010 / 15:30
Anybody that believes in God that doesn't ask the same questions that Fred is asking SHOULD be asking those questions. I do, and I also have no friggin answer as to why some people suffer endlessly and others have more than they know what to do with.
Good post Freddie.
January 13, 2010 / 15:32
I meant to say... "and others have more good fortune than they know what to do with."
January 13, 2010 / 15:42
Very interesting topic, Fred. I have to think about this before I write my thoughts.....hmmmmmmm
January 13, 2010 / 15:48
You won't be able to delete my comments on SOWNY
January 13, 2010 / 15:52
"You won't be able to delete my comments on SOWNY" is a little like writing "you won't be able to wash my piss off the wall at Filmore's".
January 13, 2010 / 16:00
Like the head vampire says in "30 Days of Night"... "God..no god".
I've had this debate with friends over and over again. One in particular, a lawyer, believes. And I ask why, as an educated person trained in critical thinking and facts rather than superstition, would she believe in this?
She dances around, like any lawyer would, but it comes down to this.
She, and countless millions of others, are simply hedging their bets. And, let's face it, you face less scorn from others if you say you believe. I tell people I don't believe and they look at me like a leper. This, in 2010..no wonder people were burned at the stake for non believing a couple of hundred years ago.
January 13, 2010 / 16:14
Every once in a while I get bored and decide to raise some hell (pardon the pun).
I love picking on Haiti all the time. No matter how many times I crush them they just keep on believing and rebuilding. Did you see what I did to the Presidential Palace, he was such an a$$hole.
Now if I could some how ruin/ fix HumHow. The switch from EZ to BOOM worries me a little, it might work. But then again, with his luck it won’t be too long before he’ll be directing cat commercials.
January 13, 2010 / 17:24
Ever notice how those that whine "How could GOD let such a tragedy happen," are also the first to DENY His existence when confronted by Him on moral issues such as traditional values, not cheating on your spouse, engaging in un-natural sexual "relations," not stealing, etc.?
It's NOT God that causes or allows tragedy to happen; we do that to ourselves... bad actions have negative consequences, after all.
As for natural disasters such as Haiti, God simply stepped back from the world, when our PRIDE told Him to "Take a hike," because we thought we knew better.
So; He GAVE us freedom of choice. With that "freedom" FROM God and His wisdom comes consequences, too.
January 13, 2010 / 17:30
Ever notice that when Jesus freaks are asked about the workings of God they always come up with the "he gave us freedom of choice" argument, or the "he stepped back" bullshit or "God didn't do it, we did it to ourselves nonsence."
Give us an f'in break Uppercut.
January 13, 2010 / 17:41
Heaven can wait. That is why you want to become an angel and come back to earth and bed down 12,777 gals like Henry Warren Beatty did. That's one way of keeping the faith up. I to will never understand why supposedly intelligent people believe in a myth that is no different than Santa,Tooth Fairy,Easter Bunny,Sand Man,Mother Earth.
January 13, 2010 / 18:39
Our ability and willingness to offer aid is a great testament to human spirit - true divinity...
January 13, 2010 / 19:51
GOD-dam...
hey freddie...i've never been to haiti, but have visited many other small island communities in the area...it's tragic what's happened!
perhaps it's possible for you to use this forum, and your position in the radio community...to help raise some much needed funds for the people of haiti.
i'll send you the first cheque!
loving you!

I just heard Pat Robertson say that the reason all these things happen to Haiti is that they made a deal with the devil. Here is the quote...
"Something happened a long time ago in Haiti, and people might not want to talk about it. They were under the heel of the French--uhh, you know, Napoleon III or whatever. And they got together and swore a pact to the Devil. They said, "We will serve you if you'll get us free from the French." True story. And so the Devil said, "OK, it's a deal." And they kicked the French out—you know, the Haitians revolted and got themselves free. But ever since they have been cursed by one thing after the other—desperately poor. That island of Hispaniola is one island. It's cut down the middle. On the one side is Haiti, on the other side is the Dominican Republic. The Dominican Republic is prosperous, healthy, full of resorts, etcetera. Haiti is in desperate poverty. Same island. They need to have---and we need to pray for them—a great turning to God. And out of this tragedy I'm optimistic something good may come. But right now we're helping the suffering people and the suffering is unimaginable."
January 13, 2010 / 20:14
As for natural disasters in Haiti, blame that on their geographical position on the globe. As for everything else, blame a self-serving French occupation, corrupt governments, and decades of brutal dictatorships. As for Pat Robertson, I guess you can blame God for that total shit-head.
January 13, 2010 / 21:18
I would suggest that anyone who believes there is a God that sits back and "micromanages" events on earth has a very juvenile image of God. Perhaps the only thing sillier is non-believers using that juvenile view as a punching bag in the belief that it somehow advances their own atheistic views.
Full disclosure: I believe in a God but not in the form he takes in any of the world's primary religions. And while I have utter contempt for right-wing christian fundamentalists and islamafascists, the militant atheists are, in their own way, almost as fucked up as the members of those two crews - all three groups strongly believe in "facts" that simply cannot be proven. Oh well, at least the militant atheists don't commit atrocities in the name of God. So they got that goin for them.
January 13, 2010 / 23:36
"As for natural disasters in Haiti, blame that on their geographical position on the globe"
---------
I pretty much agree with that. God had nothing to do with the earthquake. Haiti is the poorest nation in the western hemisphere. Is it their own fault, the French, the US, George Bush??? Who the hell knows.
But rest assure Freddie, it will be the many Christian charities that will be leading the way in helping the Haitians. For that, you can thank God and our Lord, Jesus Christ.
January 14, 2010 / 07:25
I love that, someone telling me to grow up and believe in God. Sweet. I'll do that when I get back from my date with the tooth fairy. ha ha ha ha ha ha.
January 14, 2010 / 09:01
Fred Here is your answer according to Pat Robertson
http://www.buffaloboymike.com/2010/01/sick-and-demented.html
January 14, 2010 / 10:35
Good post Fred. Too bad the people that should think about it critically won't.
January 14, 2010 / 10:37
If there is a God, he sure can be a prick sometimes.
January 14, 2010 / 11:55
I’m not sure that there are clear cut answers in this regards. It is all about your basic belief structure. A believer will always be a believer and non-believer always a non-believer regardless of the situation presented. In this day and age it is not possible to “convert” people to an opposing belief.
January 14, 2010 / 13:31
The Earth shook. Lots dead. Lots in trouble. Good people will help.
January 14, 2010 / 15:10
It's been a long time since I have posted on your site Freddie, and I certainly love your rants even though I disagree more than I agree when it comes to some of your political commentary. I have to say that this Right Uppercut guy is either a troll meant to get people to read and respond to your posts or is quite possibly the white trash the bible belt kicked out for being too much of a radical right wing fundie nutjob.
I would be sooner caught in bed with one of the Golden Girls than at a bar with this asshat.
After reading some of your posts and if you are for real, I take back everything I said about George W. Bush.
Keep up the good work Freddie!
January 14, 2010 / 15:23
I don't mean to sound mean but Haiti made a pact with the devil a long time ago in return of being freed from the French. They were freed but the devil has got a hold of Haiti now. The devil will make you believe he will give you what you want, but he doesn't. Haiti practices a lot of voodoo and witch craft. They need to believe in God for once. If you look at the Daily News paper from yesterday, there is a picture of a big cross with jesus on it that is still standing and everything around it is turned to rubble. God will still be standing in the End.
January 14, 2010 / 16:03
Nice to meet you Ruth - you must be Argie's wife.
Would you like to buy some toast?
January 14, 2010 / 17:10
Another former French colony gone to hell. Haiti, Algeria, Quebec....
January 14, 2010 / 17:16
I think it has more to do with the East Coast/West Coast God feud that has blighted our God industry for centuries.
East Coast God smites the west coast Haiti with AIDS, the Duvaliers and earthquakes while the West Coast God is too in wit da bitches at da club to take notice.
The coast war aside, I'm going to travel to an oil spill under the 401 bridge at Weston that looks like the Virgin Mary and pray for the Haitian people.
My Archbishop raised his head from an altar boy's groin today to tell me that it would be wise to pray to the Madonna.
January 14, 2010 / 18:11
Tim A, Gene; et al: Re-read my post. God stepped away from 'maintaining' the earth in a state of paradise; because WE told Him to "Take a hike. We don't need You."
Foolish pride. Pride is the worst sin.
He merely said "Ok," and stepped back, giving us freedom of choice.
Which means that has consequences, as well.
As "science" tells us, "'Nature' abhores a vacuum."
So... what stepped in to fill the absence of God?
Chaos.
Some call that The Devil.
Argie and Ruth: Very well-said, may Jesus bless you... and the people of Haiti.
January 14, 2010 / 19:39
RU - you keep saying God gave us freedom of choice, yet at the rallies, you folks say he is Pro Life?
January 14, 2010 / 21:34
I'm not sure why Fred has brought the whole issue of God and religion into this tragedy. An earthquake happens, people are killed, many are displaced and we're debating the merits of God, Christians, free will, the French, etc.
Again, people, be happy there are Christian organizations around to assist these folks. Also when all is said and done, the US govt are going to be the ones who put up the most dough - and no not because of the new messiah, Obama.
January 14, 2010 / 22:48
Ruth who are you Pat Robertson's sister? You really believe that? Even if they did "make a pact with the devil" that was 200 years ago, if thats the case lets look back at your families past and anything your relatives did wrong in the past say 500 years we will just pull a finger nail or toe nail out for....
January 15, 2010 / 01:05
Ummm.... 'RU' pride has nothing to do with what I posted. I called you a troll and a right wing fundie. The kind of person who is either a parody of a stereotype that makes the Right wing look terrible to moderates and stereotypes intelligent forward thinking conservatives. Further to that if you were a true Christian you would wish god or Jesus to bless everyone. Not just those who might share similar religious beliefs. As a Christian you should know that Jesus loved everyone and did not have prejudice towards the differences of others. He preached tolerance. Something that perhaps is omitted in many of your posts.
January 15, 2010 / 01:08
I am sorry that everyone is knocking their heads against the wall... Of why is this happening and what is the reason behind the earthquake in Haiti? The true reason is show God's glory and who is...So many people will finally turn their lives over to Jesus Christ...He is the true living God. Another reason I feel is that he has called us all to love one another in the Bible. It says in Matt 23:37 "To love the Lord your with all your heart and withy all your soul and with all your mind." this is the greatest commandment ever. The other is to "Love your neighbor as yourself." Matt 23:37. The Lord is our healer he is stronger than any other god and he is almighty God. He wants to heal Haiti. He loves Haiti. God has his reasons. "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways." Isaiah 55:8
I have encountered the Lord personally many times in my life and I didn't always walk with Him either. I was like you making fun of Him. Since 5 years ago I almost died from domestic violence and the Lord heard my cry and spared my life. Jesus lives and I am a living testimony to that. It sounds like you are searching deep in your heart Eddie and you are looking for truth. "I am the way, the truth, and the life, no one can come to the Father except through me Jesus Christ" You will be accounted for the days that you have lived on Earth. Turn to Jesus and repent. He will forgive you and heal you. Time is ticking...
January 15, 2010 / 09:28
@ Tim A. Right on! Times two!
@ God's Girl and Ruth. You've lost your way! I think your looking for...

January 15, 2010 / 11:42
Shit happens. God had nothing to do with it. It's too bad we can't say GOD smote the corrupt bastards that ran the country. It's right and just that the presidents palace was stomped. We will send money that probably all won't go to help those that really needs it. By the way is anyone else tired of that dildo, Anderson Cooper. Boy does he love a disaster.
January 15, 2010 / 14:56
Fred...they are not that religious. You really should get your facts straight.
January 15, 2010 / 15:59
@ Sans Theo
If you were familiar with the gospel of the Flying Spagetti Monster you would know that this is all because of the co-relation of Global Warming and the continuous decline in the amount of pirates in this world. The Pastafarians nailed it.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flying_Spagetti_Monster
January 15, 2010 / 16:40
"Fred...they are not that religious. You really should get your facts straight" Really? 95% are Cristians with 80-85% Catholic according to a quick internet search. That sounds religious to me.
They probaly should convert to the FSM. He's not much for the smiting.
January 15, 2010 / 17:39
Being Catholic and being religious are totally different things. Perhaps your Grade 1 intelligence doesn't get that.
January 15, 2010 / 18:07
Sans Theo,
Hallelujah, praise be, for a rational rant.
Hang on, can I say that?
January 15, 2010 / 19:59
God's been busy all week because he's trying to pick which of his 2 favourite teams (Saints or Cardinals) deserve to get 1 step closer to the Super Bowl. Good thing Tony Dungy's not in Indy anymore....talk about a dilemma!
January 15, 2010 / 20:26
You don't get to heaven by doing good deeds, you get to heaven by believing and trusting in Jesus Christ. You need to confess and repent of your sins and put all your faith in Him. Without Jesus your not going to heaven. Nobody gets to the Father but through Jesus. He is the only way. You must put all your faith in him and him only.
January 15, 2010 / 23:00
"god" sure has a sick sense of humour. Looks like the "god" of the Old Testament still has some tricks up his sleeves. No more of this rainbow loving "god."
January 16, 2010 / 01:20
nothing like a tragedy of catastrophic proportions to wake up the rest of humanity and get them to open up their hearts and wallets and to appreciate how things can change in a blink of an eye. a not so subtle reminder to thank our lucky stars for the good life we have while we have it....
January 16, 2010 / 09:48
@Mike
The Saints will win but can they cover? I don't like the game and will not post a bet. If I had to take a team it would be the Cardinals to cover.
But what do I know, I've been on a losing streak. Even God cannot predict what's going to happen... in the NFL that is.
January 16, 2010 / 09:52
Sorry I meant the above post to go to Steve G.
I've had a bad week.
January 16, 2010 / 11:09
Watching the news last night there are a lot of countries and organizations helping but it seems little coming through. Also there didn't seem to be much coming from unaffected parts of Haiti.
Lots of horror tho. Piles of deceased people and tons of rubble. Some people lifted back to Canada. Canadians of convenience. Reminder of the grouches we saved from Turkey.
January 16, 2010 / 20:28
It is true what many people are saying. We live in a diverse world. We live in a country where we have the freedom of religion and that we are accepting to peoples choices. But why is it that when someone says "Im an atheist or agnostic" everyone gets very upset and begins to argue that god does exist. What happened to freedom of choice? Im an agnostic. I dont believe in god or religion, but I respect peoples religious beliefs. However, when people start argueing gods existance, I offer a simple question: Prove it.
Not through stories or testamonies past down through generations. But physical proof. Some say, god created humans over 2000 years ago. Ha! Ask any evolutionary scientist.
Anyway my point being, if you are religious and you meet someone like myself, please respect our beliefs as we respect yours.
Cheers
January 17, 2010 / 17:06
The truth is that they did make a pact with the devil.
Now the significance you put on that pact I guess has to do with whether you believe the devil is real or not.
But it is one of Haiti's founding myths.
http://muse.jhu.edu/login?uri=/journals/small_axe/v009/9.2laroche.html
According to Haitian national history, the revolutionary war was launched on the eve of a religious ceremony at a place in the north called Bwa Kayiman (Bois Caiman, in French). At that ceremony on August 14, 1791, an African slave named Boukman sacrificed a pig, and both Kongo and Creole spirits descended to possess the bodies of the participants, encouraging them and fortifying them for the upcoming revolutionary war. Despite deep ambivalence on the part of intellectuals, Catholics, and the moneyed classes, Vodou has always been linked with militarism and the war of independence and, through it, the pride of national sovereignty.
So, yeah if there is a devil, Haiti made a pact with it. Might explain why even though Haiti and the Dominican Republic share the same island, the Dominican Republic has been far more successful.
January 18, 2010 / 12:35
Jesus is racist, and God is a genocidal maniac and a bigger racist. Says a lot about your character when you unconditionally worship these two characters.
Let's not even get into the kind of guy Muhammad was.
January 18, 2010 / 14:37
Believe it or not, I saw this on a T-shirt... get out the dictionary
The God of the Old Testament is arguably the most unpleasant character in all fiction: jealous and proud of it; a petty, unjust, unforgiving control-freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully.
January 19, 2010 / 13:15
@Gary
"Being Catholic and being religious are totally different things. Perhaps your Grade 1 intelligence doesn't get that".
Being religous means perform the rituals that go along with religion you twerp.Nothing more nothing less. It does not mean that only people that follow whatever BS you do are religeous.
January 19, 2010 / 14:33
I do believe that there exist a superior being. He is God by any other name. He does care for what happens to people. If it weren't for desease and catastrophies we would not exist. There would be too many of us. So there has to be a balance. History has shown to date that the large percent of deaths are amoung the weak and poor. Yes Japan has its fair share of earthquakes and typhoons but they were strong and survived. They rebuilt using better technology. California is the same. So why does God pick on the poor well he takes them out of their misery. The stronger ones survive and they are the ones that must rebuild to make them stronger. But that is only my theory
January 19, 2010 / 16:31
@Hedly,
Put me down for half of your next shipment...
I gotta know what it's like to be so high, I could have a thought pattern like yours pass through my head.
January 20, 2010 / 17:25
God won. Two thousand years ago when Christ rose from the grave.
Many eyewitness attest to that.
There's your proof, RJ.
As for 'evolutionary scientists,' talk about weavers of a fairy-tale!
It's been proven their dating techniques that says something is millions or billions of years 'old' are flawed.

God isn't the reason for haiti's earthquake. God can't control the weather patterns on earth. He just helps people spiritually who need comfort.
January 24, 2010 / 01:29
Sorry Jessica, but if there's a god that can create the universe and everything, you better believe he can make a bit of wind and shift the earth's crust every once in a while.
Uppercut - please provide the witnesses to resurrection.
Please also enlighten us on the massive flaws in dating techniques. Is it carbon dating that has the flaws? Are the flaws only when you use carbon-14, or another carbon molecule? What about radiometric dating, what are the extreme flaws there?
Please, don't just say things, back them up. Thanks.
