Category: Stuff 53 Responses to "What's The Point"Wayner January 18, 2010 / 10:21 I don't think anyone is supposed to feel guilty or sorry for them (at least I don't). It is a human interest piece...or a slow news day. Pauly Walnuts January 18, 2010 / 10:50 Wow a whole half an hour walk?! The insanity of it all. From the picture, it looks like a walk would do her some good. RickyP January 18, 2010 / 12:57 Typical crap from the Star. After providing them with subsidized housing and probably a monthly cheque, I am supposed to feel sorry because they have to spend thirty minutes walking to the grocery store? Maybe they can somehow blame Mike Harris for this. The Star usually does. Vic January 18, 2010 / 13:23 Ricky P, don't forget Stephen Harper, I'm sure he personally ordered the store to close. Scrubby January 18, 2010 / 13:42 I'm smelling a Ontario Human Rights violation here! Hector January 18, 2010 / 14:44 The closest grocery store to my house is a 35 minute walk. Someone pay me for me inconvenience please. Sid January 18, 2010 / 16:04 Store clerks have no manners now. Like they are doing me a favour by taking my money. Exception , most minimum wage clerks in Dollarama are nice. Not a fan January 18, 2010 / 16:38 Wow aren't you one bitter guy buddy. What ya been doing since 102.1 fired you Bob Loblaws January 18, 2010 / 16:53 Surprised it wasn't a Joe Fiorito tearjerker. "She's made some bad decisions that include the gunrunner boyfriend, the crack dealer roomate and the three years of welfare fraud. But does that mean she has to wait for a broken elevator everytime she wants to exit her 15th floor apartment on her motorized Scooter Rascal to buy a little weed?". What a terrible city and country we have. Mike from Lowville January 18, 2010 / 17:40 Turn the tables on some of you assholes and then see how high and mighty you would feel. East Coast Dave January 18, 2010 / 17:56 Well Mike maybe you and the women in the article should turn on your T.V. sets and see how others around the world are living. EARNING my pay cheque week to week doesn't make me high and mighty you jackass! Right Uppercut January 18, 2010 / 18:02 What next? Subsidized grocery stores near every "project" in the city? Has the HARD-WORKING taxpayer NOT been screwed enough? Pouring OUR money at the 'problem' has NOT worked, and never will! Stop making bad decisions, people... pull up your own socks and get out of the projects! We can offer an honest hand UP; but 'handouts' just sustain the cycle of 'poverty.' Plus, there are a lot of liberals who 'depend' on the poverty industry, to justify their own existence, let alone that fish-wrap Star that tries to be 'journalistic.' Heck, if you get it for free (or subsidized), why the heck would you haul yourself off your lazy ass and better yourself? Mikey January 18, 2010 / 19:17 It would be hilarious if any of you had or will have any sob stories of difficulties in your lives. Any right-wingers here have a personal hardship, or maybe a sick relative? Please share so I can laugh at your pathetic life, then drive to wherever you are and spit on you. You people are so self-righteous it's unbelievable. No one needs sympathy from ugly human beings like you, but why not do the rest of us a favour by shutting up...or if you're really feeling generous, kill yourself. :-D Pauly Walnuts January 18, 2010 / 21:15 Mike, Mikey, anybody that doesn't blindly eats up the Star's drivel is an asshole, and in-human and ugly. I get it... coming from the likes of you two, I'll take that as a compliment. As for life's difficulties, have an earthquake drop the roof on your head that's hardship. Having to leave your dead child on the side of the road so you can go find something to eat so you don't starve, that is hardship. Having to walk to the grocery store is not. What lives you guys lead where you believe having to walk to a store fully stocked with food that is a only 35 minutes away is a hardship worthy of printing in a newspaper. lame January 18, 2010 / 21:30 Like u don't bitch about your like Pauly. Love Garth Turner Right Uppercut January 18, 2010 / 21:33 Well said, Pauly! Puts it right into perspective! MississaugaBlogger.com January 18, 2010 / 21:43 Perhaps we should look at who let the building be built so spread out that a store closing down would cause such a commotion. Also there are vans with produce that operate under the radar that service neighbourhoods like Flemington Park. This is no new phenomenon Food Desserts have been around for a while. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Food_desert Bob B January 18, 2010 / 23:02 Don't like to walk that far, move closer to the store. Done. What's next, send them a limo at taxpayers expense. Haven't these people ever heard of pooling together??? Or do you want to tell me that they don't know anybody (no friends, no neighbours, no family) with at least one car??? Give me a break!! And you leftwing cooks, if you don't like us right wing nasties, don't bothr visiting this blog. Mike from Lowville January 19, 2010 / 01:48 @Bob B. I don't cook! Mikey January 19, 2010 / 08:54 No offense Pauly, but someone like you defining hardship is a cruel joke. It's also the definition of self-righteous, so thanks for that. Mikey January 19, 2010 / 09:02 Bob - do you understand the irony and ridiculousness of you telling people to stop visiting a website they might not agree with after you and your homeys complaining about an article in the Star? Please tell me you do. Please. I'm worried about you. Pauly Walnuts January 19, 2010 / 12:41 Mikey, you so close minded it hurts. Everybody has hardships in life. Hell probably even you. But honestly if I was that woman and they wanted to do a piece on me, I'd tell them to get lost. What burns me and others is I bet that she's proud to be in the paper, and written up about how downtrodden she is and how the system is against her. Most other people would be embarrased. Where I see her as an example how the system failed because she relies only on the system, you see a failed system because she has to do more now for herself. Without people worse off then you, the whole left leaning way of thinking would be wiped out. Imagine the thought of not having chronically defendant people in our society. To you that's a fallacy, to me that's the goal. Pauly Walnuts January 19, 2010 / 12:44 Iame, nope I don't. I'm way to lucky to live in this country and have all the good things we have that others can only dream of. Mikey January 19, 2010 / 18:24 Pauly - you hurt your argument when you assume this individual is us overjoyed at having to rely on government assistance. In fact, since you laid out the typical left-wing viewpoint, maybe you should also grace us with the typical right-wing viewpoint: that everyone on the dole absolutely loves it, and they'd have to be pulled off kicking and screaming. Both viewpoints scream close-mindedness, as well as self-righteousness, and anyone with half a brain rejects both. Maybe we do both want a world where no one is considered downtrodden, I just realize that that's impossible the way things work today. Speaking of food, why is it considered a much lesser necessity than healthcare? I can go a few years without seeing a doctor, I doubt I'd last very long without food. Probably go even sooner without water. Right Uppercut January 19, 2010 / 19:36 Mikey; recall the story of the "Shaky Lady?" That "panhandler" was dropped off, "begged" for handouts all day long, and then her son picked her up in a car. The Toronto Sun tracked her "home," which turned out to be a very nice apartment with a big-screen T.V. That scam-artist was collecting welfare, as well. And; that's NOT "loving being on the dole?" How many more are "Lovin' it" that way; whenever the TAXPAYER-FUNDED "Wel-fairy" showers their lazy asses with MY MONEY!? El Torpedo January 19, 2010 / 19:42 Gonna try and make another post here, though it likely will disappear into cyberspace like my last ones. Good grief, this is such nonsense. The lady in the article doesn't look to me like she's gone without breakfast, lunch and dinner one day in her life. She looks like she's doing okay in that respect, despite the incredible obstacle of a 2.3km distance to the store. lefty January 19, 2010 / 21:03 Uppercut I agree with you man. I hate anyone that's old because once an old person hurt me. So when I see old people I go out of the way to make them feel umcomfortable. Once I was driving on Hwy 11 and I saw this old person in the ditch so I stopped and laughed as they said help. After all they are all the same. You are a narrow waste of flesh douche Bob B January 19, 2010 / 21:10 Mikey, don't worry about me, I am doing just fine but I really start to wonder about you. Based on the replies, I don't seem to be the only one wondering about you. Right Uppercut January 20, 2010 / 17:17 Lefty; you're a perfect example of how lefties try to cloud the issue when they know they are LOSING! Try to change the topic by posting something that has nothing at all to do with the discussion thread. Keep that finger and thumb in the shape of an "L" on your forehead, you size-eleven sphincter. Mikey January 21, 2010 / 08:50 One example Pauly. Those people are criminals, and the story was sensationalized. Now Bernie Madoff on the other hand, he's another example. Now maybe what he did didn't ruin as many lives as the people pretending to be homeless, but it was still pretty bad. Anyways, if you're going to argue how much people enjoying living off the government, please Pauly Walnuts January 21, 2010 / 10:53 Mikey, not sure what you're referring to (probably R.U. post). But let me correct you... I'm not sayign everyone is happy to be on social asistance, I am referring specifically to this Star Article and the fact that it makes it to print, but I'm sure this case isn't unique. On the larger issue though, even if everyone doesn't want to be on Welfare, catering to every little inconvenience is not an efficient use of time, resources or money. Ok you want stats.. just a quick look... 12 year old stats but whatever. http://www.ccsd.ca/factsheets/fs_sa98.htm 1,091,300 people in ontario receiving social asisstance of some kind. Population of Ontario is approx. 13 million. 7.6%... over 1 million people!!! That is horrible. The goal should be to eliminate that number by making those people self sustaining , not make people's lives more comfortable while they're on welfare. Public welfare isnt' a solution, it was meant to be a transitional mechanism. garth turner January 21, 2010 / 22:04 Walnut, get over it. The bulk of people on welfare are single moms, cripples and kids. We should abort morons like you Bob B January 21, 2010 / 22:30 Garth, Pauly has a point, you on the other hand are spewing crap which makes me wonder who the moron is????? Let's look at your 3 categories: "Single Moms"; quite often it's their own stupitity which gets them into this situation. Having said that, there are lot of single moms who are hard working and do very well. I am talking about the chronic users not the transitional ones. Cripples, I prefer to call them disabled. Again, there are many handicapped people who live on their own, have good jobs and don't need to rely on social assistance. Kids, the government should hold their parents responsible and cut them off wellfare. disabled online dating August 6, 2010 / 02:45 Thank you for a great post Free Dating August 14, 2010 / 23:38 kinda get tired of it all to be honest. its just irratating. i am tired of trying these paid networks and getting nothing but spam. seriously. but i guess it runs with the territory, i won't be paying for a dating site though. internet marketing course August 15, 2010 / 10:12 Awesome site... auto traffic avalanche bonus August 15, 2010 / 18:49 This is 1 of the most important piece of writing which I have study till date on this excellent issue. Best to wash your hands after handling shell eggs & any surface they came into contact with. Also cook well. Salmonella can happen in any size facility; however I have never heard of these outbreaks in smaller farms or organic farms and I have been selling eggs for 6 years in CA. I can't say small and organic is a safety net, just my observation.
