"Fred: Check this out - just a drop in the bucket of what women have had to endure in the entertainment media over the years. Your argument really is ridiculous."

Don Draper January 5, 2010 / 16:03 Thanks for referencing something so recent Pam. Can you dig up some "Duck and Cover" videos to reference the Cold War? That's one VERY phallic candle on the birthday cake, BTW. Trish January 5, 2010 / 16:31 I wonder if the producers ever considered the possibility that when viewed 50 years later it is actually the man who comes off as being inadequate. Just not as manly as some of the guys at her office. Wimp. Ryan January 5, 2010 / 17:42 it's like the notion of "reverse racism". it's simply racism. in this case it's sexism, regardless of who's being sexist. just cuz society/media was different 50yrs ago doesn't mean we flip it to get sweet sweet revenge. by that logic they'll start making tv commercials where black folks are portrayed as superior to white folks..oh wait a second..they DO do that.. Dalton McSquinty Is An Idiot January 5, 2010 / 20:15 YEAR 1960 - Husband complains about coffee, wife tries hard to please husband by making a better cup of coffee. All is well, life goes on... YEAR 2010 - Husband complains about coffee, wife waits for husband to leave for work, calls lawyer, files for divorce, changes locks on all doors before husband arrives home from work, when husband arrives, police are there to take him away and asked to stay at a friends or relatives place until lawyer proceeds with divorce papers. Husband distraught from experience, finds a one-bedroom apartment, and is now paying child support, mortgage in a house he no longer lives in and picks up children every other week and on Tuesdays only to find ex-wife has new boyfriend who is holding a cup of the bad coffee that former wife has made him in which the ex- husband is paying for. Divorced husband goes back to one -bedroom apartment and looks in the mirror at a shell of his former self. Ex- wife marries boyfriend, Ex-Husband becomes alcoholic, children grow up with learning problems, abuse drugs and alcohol, quit school, work at McDonald's.... Aren't women a gem? MIssissaugaBlogger.com January 5, 2010 / 22:15 That's pretty harsh. Hubby comes off as an A-hole. Jason Barr January 6, 2010 / 07:04 I bet Pam's coffee tastes like crap. haha James Edgar January 6, 2010 / 09:49 Pams right women have had to endure some pretty stupid things over the years. The notion that it's ok to bash because of that is absurd though. Hows this for an Idea. treat everybody with respect? Not kid gloves BTW just simple respect. BTW Jason's right I bet her coffee DID taste like crap. Hector January 6, 2010 / 10:21 I'm having trouble seeing what is wrong with this ad. Trish January 6, 2010 / 10:53 I think it's a bit sad. This woman's world is so small. She says something like "if only I could make good coffee, I could relax." These days if a husband claimed the gals at the office made better coffee, the wife would slug him with the percolator - and he'd deserve it too. Pam January 6, 2010 / 11:50 Pauly - yes is did resonate with the women of the day - it reminded them that they were beholden to their husbands whims... Jason - I don't make copy - I go to Starbucks! Ha Ha! Don - Not sure you read my post or you'd know why I chose a 40 year old commercial, but let me say, I love your wardrobe.. Pam January 6, 2010 / 11:51 sorry Jason - I meant I don't make COFFEE.... Pauly Walnuts January 6, 2010 / 14:48 Pam, lets call it for what it is. Times were different. It resonated with women because that was what they related to. Times are different now, although I'm sure it still resonates with some women because they prefer to be stressing over the little things that their husband's think. As for the man in this commercial, he's an idiot. You're point that this commercial makes an ass out women and the man somehow is the superior doesn't hold water. Today they both look like fools, but during the day of this commercial Folder's wasn't making the woman the butt of a joke, they were selling their product to the demographic who bought the coffee. BTW, I make a damn good cup of coffee. :) You're invited over for a cup. lenen zonder bkr toetsing August 3, 2010 / 18:13 Over de voor- en nadelen van het afsluiten van een lening zonder BKR-toetsing. migraine August 4, 2010 / 05:40 Migraine is hoofdpijn die in aanvallen komt.
