What none of you seem to address is the simple fact that we need to do things period to help the environment global warming or not. It's easy for Right Uppercut to think he's funny making plays on words all day long. I think the advocacy is we need to do something period. With each passing day I read this blog I find that Fred is slipping more and more into a single mindedness that is the worst thing to this planet/country. Yes they had record lows and a massive snow storm this past week in the states. Does that mean that the world isn't warming up???? Fred's credibility as either a scientist or meteorologist on this point has been exemplified. Is there one clear cut way to get where we need not really? Do we need to do something? Of course. We as a country can't stake our future on the oil sands. Which is another funny situation Fred has not once even touched on what is going on over there and what the will mean environmentally over there. Yes the world can't possibly be getting warmer, because they had a deep freeze in the states this past week bravo for the school yard mentality. There are always outliers to any sample taken. Do we keep using natural resources at the current rate and polluting just because we believe the world isn't warming as a result of it??? Is that what it's come to in your mind?

Frank ridicules Fred's qualifications as a scientest or meteorlogist, so please please tell us Dr. Science, what are your credentials. The problem with all this bs, is that people who simply want to take a step back and say, hang on here, before we agree to impede our economies and risk massive job losses, and spend trillions of dollars, while China and India will basically do whatever the heck they want, can we not at least have an open debate?? Apparently not, as this is always met with an almost maniacal refusal on the part of proponents of AGW, to allow any debate whatsoever. What are they so afraid of? If anyone has undeniable proof of the theory, and absolute proof of the negative effects, then no sane person would stand in the way of action. People can however smell a pile of flaming bs from a fair distance, and it usually involves taking money from the middle class and "re-distributing" to various useless entities. Some of the same geniuses predicting AGW, were predicting a new ice age 30 years ago and advocating the covering of the polar ice caps with soot.

What the nay sayers have trouble with is that it is GLOBAL warming yet they treat what is happening in the Continental US and Canada as Global when infact we are but a small slice of this planet, Greenland, the Arctic and Antarctica are the Canaries in the perverbial coalmine, its hard to grasp because none of us can see or view these places from where we are in our own neck of the woods....Its December, Its supposed to be cold, no one said it wouldn't get cold still. The definition of climate is this:
Climate encompasses the statistics of temperature, humidity, atmospheric pressure, wind, rainfall, atmospheric particle count and numerous other meteorological elements in a given region over long periods of time. Climate can be contrasted to weather, which is the present condition of these same elements over periods up to two weeks. The key words there for climate is OVER A LONG PERIOD OF TIME YEARS which is exactly where the data to back up Global warming comes from and is extrapolated over. What you are talking about here Fred is simply weather and in December what you were referring to is normal weather, in order to determine what is happening on a global climate scale it would have to be included with the data from all over the globe over this past year and compared to data from the last 100 years, that is how climate is determined, thats how they discover trends and they can correlate with relative accuracy the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere with times of increased warming and cooling fairly accurately, we humans spew out tons upon tons upon tons of CO2, Methane and other potent green house gases.

Global warming may or may not be a reality; it all depends on how far back you want to go for your data, what your agenda is and what you're trying to prove. You need to look at what these special interest groups' motives are. Just follow the money. With "cap and trade" and "carbon credits" you can see who will be making the big profits; the traders. It's all for profit, not for the environment.

Fred, are you actually taking one week worth of data to prove that Global Warming doesn't exist? If that was true we could take this past November with record highs and do the same thing.
Take time and look at it from all angles before jumping to one conclusion. People like Right Uppercut immediately take the view point of one side of a political spectrum without judging things on their own. If you actually read opposing views you may come to the smae conclusion that most scientists and world leaders have come to agree on. It does exist. Man made or not, it is happening.
I would love to hear why we shouldn't worry about carbon emmsions and decreasing the pollution that we put into the air. Instead of attacking Suzuki and Gore, who may be condesending and pompous, but their message of conserving energy and decreasing pollution is benefial to everyone. Please tell me how it is such a bad thing.

Whoa! Frank, did you really write that, or did you hire a ghost writer? I don't recall reading a post of yours that was as articulate as that. I almost wanted to agree with you! In fact, in a round about way, I do agree - regardless of whether man is responsible for "climate change" (doubtful), I think on principal we should be striving to replace non-renewable, dirty fuels with clean, renewable ones. I think we should stop treating our waterways, lakes and oceans as our toilet, and I think we should stop unsustainable practices like driftnet fishing. This has nothing to do with the current enviro-facists and their foaming-at-the-mouth doomsday predictions. It's just about having clean air, clean water, and responsible management of resources. Who could argue with that?
The problem as I see it is that more and more people are becoming jaded against any type of "green" measures because none of them to date actually work, and there has been no demonstrable improvement in our lives after years of being told to be good citizens by recycling, using CFC bulbs, blah, blah blah. Facts are, recycling doesn't work. Most of that crap still ends up in landfills, because there's no efficient way to process it. Methods we do have require more energy than is worth. The kitchen compost thing doesn't work - the result in many cases is toxic soil that you wouldn't want to use in your cat's litter box. Buying local produce doesn't do squat because most of the energy used in food growth is spent on storage and extending grow times (especially in Canada), not transportation. Even the highly touted CFC bulb is a bust, because most people toss them in the garbage when they burn out, and guess what? They contain mercury, which is going to contaminate the earth. Beautiful.
All of this to say, the environmental activists who are demanding reductions are pedaling solutions that are either completely ineffective, or sometimes even worse than what they are replacing. In typical human fashion, our "solutions" end up having unimagined consequences that create a new set of problems. Any wonder we're tuning them out?

The morons are the ones that think they've figured it all out, and that they have identified a problem with no chance of constructive debate allowed and have conveniently found a singular simple solution.

The Earth has been pummeled and chewed up and spit out, the climate that we have today is an ever changing one. How arrogant you and your fellow hippies are to think that the earth's climate should be as it is now and that it shouldn't change, even though it has been changing constantly for the last 4.5 billion years. Keep in mind that humanity is also a product of the earth. With or without humanity's influence the climate has, is and always will be changing. The difference right now is that a certain few people are trying to make a fortune off the good nature (no pun intended) of gullible people.

perhaps you have heard of the brand new Kinect? Its truly awesome! I never had a great deal of fun playing video games before, eventhough I would call myself some sort of hardcore player this usually plays adventures like Call of Duty and so on. The Kinect is probably so different than anything I have ever before played before. your motion controles do the job really well, and not only this, but not required to use a controller to experiment with is the personification involving freedom! No bothersome button smashing any more, a single word is enough! You should think about getting the Kinect!.
