Im not sure I understand why all the fuss is being made that Burke accepting his son coming out of the closet. All parents should accept their children for who they are. I guess we are celebrating the fact that Brian Burke is not an a-hole.

As Chris Rock best put it, sometimes people take credit for things are supposed to do...."I take care of my kids"

How very liberal of you.

First of all, obviously Burke is going to accept his son (at least publicly). I'm sure it ore him apart in private (how else do you explain why he looks like he's aged 10 years in the past 2). I love the part about Burke attending the pride parade - man that would be fun to watch him there.

Secondly, its a puff piece by Cox who fittingly writes for the puff laden Toronto Star. Cox should hand in his man-card, at least his hetro card.

Thirdly, Cox, you and I'm sure many who read your blog will not realize the irony in Burke's story about casting his vote for Obama while voting against Prop 8 (the reinstating of true marriage - one man & one woman). Ironically, most of those who voted for Obama also voted in favour of prop 8. Ya see, many black and latino Americans are not crazy about the yoga/Starbucks crowd. Also, many liberals like yourself forget the fact that Obama is against g@y marriage.

And as for the anti-g@y protesters, they had nothing on some of the militant pro-puffsters who physically attacked many elderly people who dared to protest against their type of marriage.

Is this story for real? It sounds like something that would have been written 20 years ago. Burke's son is gay - what's the big deal??? Is the hockey world so backward and hetero that there are currently no openly gay guys working in hockey operations? Well maybe they need to be exposed, then. Brendan, go get 'em.
