Holy shight Fred! Do you have a picture of him by your bedside? I've never seen someone with such a hard-on for the Prime Minister as you! My Lord!
October 4, 2009 / 13:29
You should check out the CBC news web site:
http://www.cbc.ca/canada/story/2009/10/03/harper-piano.html
If there isn't a reason to cut the CBC off the Public tit. I don't know what is.
October 4, 2009 / 14:00
To add to my last comment,
How many Canadian "A" list people were there?
By the sound of the crowd I think that the house was less than half filled.
So what instrument does Jack, Gilles and Iggy play.
I'm sure that Jack and Gilles can play some sort of wind instrument, I'm not so sure that Ickie (or is that Iggy) can play one. Well we can give him either a tambourine or a triangle. So they can all learn to play together.
October 4, 2009 / 14:39
All the partisan crap aside.
The PM did a great job.
He should sing more often.
Didn't know he could smile
October 4, 2009 / 14:56
Fantastic! Now if he could sing that song at a Free Mark Emery Benefit, I'd do him for ya Fred.
October 4, 2009 / 18:15
Yeah, but can he play that on Beatles Rockband?
October 4, 2009 / 21:02
The Toronto Star article wasn't that bad, Fred.
It was actually nice to see a human side to Harper.
October 4, 2009 / 21:03
Jeezus...only in this country would the sour pricks on the left attempt to brick this event.
If this was Obama, the U.S. media would be collapsed in a sweaty heap, post orgasm, smoking a collective cigarette and celebrating their hero's ability to connect to the common person.
Remember: Never Trust A Hippie (TM Mackenzie Phillips).
October 4, 2009 / 22:38
Fred - Harper's human. He's eventually going to contradict himself, as a politician it's impossible not to. Stop blaming some kind of conspiracy by the Star and move on. Posts like this make you, and the people posting comments agreeing with you, look whiney.
I'm sure we're all glad Harper cut funding to the arts so he could make websites like this ( http://www.plandaction.gc.ca) and then spend millions advertising it.
Since when does the Government of Canada use various shades of blue as it's official colours? This whole campaign is the most partisan use of my money I've ever seen.
Anyways, Harper did a good job, he sounded wayyyyyyyy better than I thought he would. Funny to hear him say he gets high with help from his friends....probably Helena Guergis and her husband!
October 4, 2009 / 23:04
"Artists" shouldn't be funded with our tax dollars. If artists produced a product people liked they would pay for it and artists would be self sufficient.
I do not want my tax dollars to go to support an artists so called lifestyle. It's a choice they make, to produce art for which there is no market or work at a soul crushing steady job like a lot of us.
I would rather the money paid to the arts be spent to upgrade the roads, water treatment facilities, feed or house the needy or provide proper equipment for the Canadian Forces.
October 5, 2009 / 00:46
I'm actually surprised. He has a good singing voice. The PM should show more of this side of him, it would make him more applealing.
October 5, 2009 / 12:14
Fred.
Good to see you back up and running. Hope all is well with the PD gig.
When I saw this on TV I thought he did a great job. But as someone in the public eye as much as he is I had to cringe at the PR mess he could cause himself with sites and blogs that take things out of context to poke fun at people. Like singing "I get ***high*** with a little help from my friends". I can see the fall out on this one. Maybe Leno or TMZ could edit something in with some other world leaders.
October 5, 2009 / 16:25
Looks like The Star has taken their target off Harper and the Toronto Police and placed it firmly on Hazel McCallion..bunch of idiots.
October 5, 2009 / 16:35
Murph, I saw that too. It's amazing. That rag could take Mother Theresa and turn her into a terrorist. Here is the link to the article.

October 5, 2009 / 20:02
It's true what's said about Mississauga in the article. Despite being the 6th largest city in Canada, it definitely doesn't feel like a city, and they'll now never be able to shake the label of just being a suburb of Toronto.
Bad analogy Pauly, Mother Teresa was no saint. But don't worry, turns out she was an atheist all along!
October 5, 2009 / 21:09
Hazel`s legacy is looking rather wrinkled these days.
October 5, 2009 / 21:11
Man we`ve had some DULL PM`s. Pearson, Dief, Kim, Martin, Turner, Harper, Chretien.
October 5, 2009 / 22:42
Mikey,
Please explain your last comment. What did MT do that you didn't approve of and what's this about being an atheist???
October 6, 2009 / 10:56
Mother Teresa didn't like the poor, she liked poverty. So much so that she was absolutely opposed to the only real solution to true poverty, the empowerment of women. She wanted people in poverty, in fact to her you had to suffer in filthy wretched conditions to really be close to god. She also did nothing to relieve suffering, she wanted people to experience it fully. See if you can find any information on her use of real painkillers at her beloved hospices. She certainly had the money for them.
Speaking of money, she took a healthy amount from the Duvalier family in Haiti, then proceeded to compliment them on what a good job they were doing in that country.
I could go on, but here's a good starting point if you want to learn more about her crisis of faith: http://www.time.com/time/world/article/0,8599,1655415,00.html
October 6, 2009 / 11:38
"Mississauga is a suburb of Toronto. That will never change." As is Oakville, Burlington, Hamilton? Just as I thought, Toronto IS the center of the Universe. Everything revolves around Toronto.......NOT! Mississauga only grew by swallowing smaller communities, Streetsville, Cooksville, Port Credit, I don't call that a city. More like a spreading rash and Hazel is the anti-itch cream.

[Duplicate posting from another site. My text.]
-------
He can’t sing to save his soul, he can’t play better than
Grade 4 Royal Conservatory, he’s awkward and cringinly
socially inept. He can’t run a country .
What good is he??? I really ask you, what good is he?
He’s never had a real job and earned a real paycheque
and probably doesn’t know the price of a pound of butter
or how far $20 will go to feed a hungry family.
BUT, he sure can kick a good person who’s down and he
can undermine members of his own cabinet and show his
boorish nature at international conferences by holding
the delegates hostage ’til he’s said his piece.
He’s an economist who’s runing the nation. Who would
ever hire him to work in the financial services sector?
His childhood was in Leaside–a community now blended
into Toronto. The only good thing to come out of Leaside
are the railway tracks.
Why don’t we put his guy on the rails and send him back
to a firewalled Alberta?
How much longer must this country suffer his ineptness?

Torontonian:
I am not a fan of Harper, but your post doesn't actually comment on anything that Harper has done poorly. If you are going to critisize the man then at least find something to say.
Saying someone is bad at something and then not backing it up it just childish.
October 6, 2009 / 16:17
Thanks Pauly, I didn't realize that growing up there...
They're just a suburb because they never aspired to be anything but subdivisions and strip malls.
October 6, 2009 / 17:51
Mikey, my point was that everybody knows Mississauga is a suburb of Toronto, nobody argues that. More importantly nobody tries to argue that Mississauga takes away from Toronto, what Toronto is. Frankly, if Toronto didn't exist, neither would Mississauga.
So imagine that the Toronto Star has nothing better to do but write about Mississauga, and then to talk down to the residents, as if Toronto doesn't have bigger problems to deal with and that the people who live in Toronto are without their own faults when it comes to electing their representatives. The Toronto Star can't say anything good about Toronto so it writes about, in their opinion, how sh!t Mississauga is? Get a life. As for Hazel, right or wrong, she has bigger balls than Miller could ever dream of.
October 6, 2009 / 22:18
hey Torontonian,
We Get it
You don't like Stephen Harper.
Judding by your writing, I can only assume that you either work for the Toronto Star, CBC or in some sort of Goverment office.
October 7, 2009 / 22:01
I think the Torontonian must live in Jack Layton/Olivia Chows
riding. Your worried about how he sings. You sound like a very unhappy person who needs help.
Cut out the bullshit about Harper and his singing ability and live a little.
Cheers

Who in hades guessed erecting a mosque at ground zero could be a great concept? I'm not really a great fan of both Glen Beck or Sarah Palin although as opposed to Obama and his supremely idiotic government, the above are prodigies, get real The united states, there is lots of unusual stuff happening. Ann.
September 2, 2010 / 11:54
Building a Mosque at Ground Zero must be the ignorant notion in the history of man, I most certainly feel that it's maliciously designed, at best, to insight controversy. I'm no conspiracy theorist although this is certainly possibly shameful or hateful, probably both of these. abby

I'll gear this review to 2 types of people: current Zune owners who are considering an upgrade, and people trying to decide between a Zune and an iPod. (There are other players worth considering out there, like the Sony Walkman X, but I hope this gives you enough info to make an informed decision of the Zune vs players other than the iPod line as well.)
