One Billion Dollars

October 7, 2009 @ 12:58

It happens all the time in politics, people call for the resignation of politicians at the drop of a hat. It becomes so common place that you tune it out most of the time.

However, every so often something happens that genuinely should result in the resignation of a politician, and that's where we are right now.

The e-health scandal in Ontario is of paramount proportions, so much so that it should go right to the top. Dalton McGuinty should resign.

Forget about shuffling his cabinet or asking for the resignation of those below him, on this one the Premier should take the fall. A one billion dollar boondoggle with scandal attached to it should target the big guy, the boss, the guy in charge.

Please read the dirty details. I've attached the Toronto Star story. Not even this liberal rag can lessen the blow of what the McGuinty government has cost Ontarians. You and I have to pay for this while Liberal insiders have become rich because of it.

The crazy thing is, the Teflon man will survive this. In Ontario, being a Liberal politician gives you a decided advantage over the rest of the pack simply because you're Liberal, and for some reason, it's even cushier for McGuinty.

His hundreds of lies and his despicably bad governing shoots right over the heads of a hopeless electorate that gives this guy a free pass on just about every issue.

But the buck should really stop here. It doesn't matter if McGuinty knew about this or not. He should have, but even if he didn't, it happened under his watch and for that, he should take full responsibility.

If he was any kind of person, if he truly cared for this province and the people who live in it, he would walk away today.

But he won't. Why would he? Anyone who can lie and deceive with the craft of this man certainly doesn't have the personal integrity to take responsibility. He'll pass the buck, and deflect the heat.

That's the kind of guy he is.

I noticed he quickly mentioned that this was also an Eves government issue at this afternoon's press snore.

Man up, Dalts. It's your shitstorm now. Take some responsibility.

My advice to the kids looking for work in the post-industrial economy: public service consultancy. It's like the Mafia; nobody knows nothing.

I suspect the only people surprised are the ones that voted for him.

I'm frankly not surprised, nor do I think this is the worst of it. McGuinty is a lame duck, but watch he'll be re-elected. Why? "Because if we elect someone else they're be just as bad."

If Harper was at the helm over this kind of cluster fudge, his voter base would be irradicated. Mcguinty's?... I bet you not even ripple.

Lots of problems there, Health on many levels, Education on many levels, Energy...again many..., and Lotteries. But he seems to come out clean. I guess cause most suppose he's not the leader. Looks a lot like some PR guy explaining why this and that with the usual gov't 'transparency'.

Ontario was Conservative for soooo many years.

And what's your point Sid... do you mean the soooo many years when the province prospered under Bill Davis, or the years Mike Harris had enough balls to make the tough decisions that McGuinty is now benefitting from?

Heads should roll and charges should be laid. Obscene the amount of money wasted. Dalton is done.

With the Liberals introducing HST and the FUBAR of the health ministry Hudak will be the next premier of Ontario on October 6th, 2011, 728 days from now.

Freddie I'm no fan of the PC's but Dalton deserves a countdown clock until he is gone.

Look for Dalton to step down before the next election.

Obviously McGuinty and his pant load minister Caplan are to blame for this mess and we also have to blame the system. The system being public healthcare. Yes I know its great having free healthcare (not counting those pesky fees) but whenever the govt runs anything, its sure to eff it up.

Stafford's blog today illustrates this very well. There was billions being wasted before McGunity and there will be billions wasted after him.

Well said, Gene!

Gene---guess my point was McGuinty wasn't a slam dunk and neither was Peterson before him. But your point was good.

Caplan, big stink at the OLG when he was minister, now this.

This guy couldn't organize a one car parade, too bad McSquinty couldn't figure it out sooner.

Why are people outraged now. McGuinty was a clueless Ken doll from day one. I have never heard this guy give a straight answer in my life. Liberals don't govern they plunder for themselves and pay off their cronies. How much did Peterson get paid to solve the Caledonia siege ? Liberals Provincial or Federal are what's in it for me political whores, think Bob Rae

Every Ontario Taxpayer should get a full refund on the Health Tax we have all been paying for since the Liar introduced it. Where is the outrage over this. Give me my money back!!

McGuinty should be gone for so many reasons but the real problem is the bureaucratic culture that exists. No matter how much we are taxed there will never be enough money to run any program because the funds are never managed responsibly.

We require responsible government and a bureaucracy that is also held responsible for its actions.

To all you Torontonians - don't vote Smitherman in the next election. The ehealth scandal is his responsibility too, and he'll rob TO the same way he has robbed the Ontario taxpapers...

Good point Pam, I hope this torpedoes Smithermans run at Mayor, I really would like John Tory to take a shot. We know he hasn't been able to get to the prom on his other endevours but I believe he has what Toronto needs. He handled Sandra Bussins little outburst very diplomatically.

Two weeks ago, the election was Smitherman's to lose. This is a golden opportunity for John Tory to step in and take it from him. But this time he can't afford the blunders that cost him in his other two cracks at the bat.

Gov't want to contract out as they THINK it's cheaper and a grand way to pay back friends.
E-Health is up there with Geo Bush in PAYBACK!!!!!
