EGO!!!!!
October 26, 2009 / 21:43
Fred; if the Olympics rack up a huge debt; as they have been known to do in the past... all of us taxpayers are going to end up carrying more than that friggin' torch... (and we did NOT ask to carry that friggin' debt!)
October 26, 2009 / 21:44
It is a perk that the public sees and most don't agree with.
They could redeem themselves and have the 27 choose a worthy children's charity in their area - have the children hold the torch and celebrity run along side them. Give a desiring kid a smile and turn bad press into good.
If they are interested, I could name several great organizations that would love the chance.
October 26, 2009 / 22:15
Corporate whoring....again.
Also, Great suggestion, Ken!
October 26, 2009 / 22:21
It's has a rotten stench but on closer examination sponsors get about 1/4 of all torch relay spots. Odds are not many people know that but that's how bills get paid.
What smells bad is when the media and the message mix too closely and objectivity is pushed aside.
We can hope that some will graciously step aside but don't hold your breath.
October 26, 2009 / 23:24
I don't know if it is too late for CTV to realize what a public relations mistake this is. I hope that this issue doesn't fade away. The public knows that most Olympic ideals have been sold out long ago, but this really smells bad.
With all the special treatment all these 'connected' people receive, maybe they can aspire to the highest level of freeloading...as members of the IOC
October 26, 2009 / 23:27
Typical of the Wh###ing out of the Olympics. Ever since the Professional Athletes in Hockey basketball etc. were allowed to compete in what should be a showcase for AMATEUR athletes, I and many others have no interest in this taxpayer cash sucking enterprise.
I thought the Flame already shone from Ben Mulroney's AZZ?
October 27, 2009 / 09:05
Sometimes when your boss (or those in charge) asks or tells you to do something you have little or no choice but to comply...the phrase "voluntold" comes to mind and is a favorrite in our office...cut the CTV guys some slack except (Mr. Mulroney)...they may like their jobs & want to keep them...
October 27, 2009 / 09:57
Olympics and the CTV 2 self centred organizations who don't really care about Canadians.
October 27, 2009 / 11:23
Let's at least hope that the coverage of the games is better than CTV's coverage of the Calgary games of 1988!
That was absolutely abysmal.
Those people couldn't stop talking!
If I remember correctly, ABC sort of ran the show and everyone else fell into line.
What will these games bring?
I hate to think that the torch relay is a foretaste of what's to come.
October 27, 2009 / 11:40
What a waste of time and money. The Olympics have long outlasted their value to the world. Can you believe that Golf is an Olympic Sport. It just boggles the mind.
October 27, 2009 / 11:40
Dear Frederick
Please don’t view this as the Olympic Relay of the Torch, there is an overt message, which somehow seems to be getting lost.
In future, all stories regarding the Olympic Flame must have the rotated picture of the actual 2010 games torch, it has specific significance; please see you buddy TO Mike for the shot.
There is also official theme music for the torch – Don’t Bogart that Joint, by Country Joe and the Fish.
October 27, 2009 / 12:25
Cost over runs which only add to this colossal waste of taxpayers' money along with the corruption of the Olympics - both athletes and officials - annoy me a lot more than the thought of Ben Mulroney carrying the torch for a few minutes.
I just thank God that CBC isn't covering the games because we would be inundated with that wanker George Strombo-mumble. Actually it would be funny to watch him carry the flame while wearing all that bling.
October 27, 2009 / 15:56
Strombo carry the flame, Argie? He wouldn't shut up long enough for it to flicker.
October 27, 2009 / 18:18
When are dees Olympids?
October 27, 2009 / 20:38
Maybe only Canada's famous should carry the Torch. Then again they'd all have to run marathons.
October 27, 2009 / 21:22
Bopper, no more marathons! Toronto just had its main roads bunged up twice in about 3-weeks due to those who don't seem to realize that ROADS are for CARS!
Just imagine a marathon friggin' up the Trans-Canada Highway!

This is getting a bit more subjective, but I much prefer the Zune Marketplace. The interface is colorful, has more flair, and some cool features like 'Mixview' that let you quickly see related albums, songs, or other users related to what you're listening to. Clicking on one of those will center on that item, and another set of "neighbors" will come into view, allowing you to navigate around exploring by similar artists, songs, or users. Speaking of users, the Zune "Social" is also great fun, letting you find others with shared tastes and becoming friends with them. You then can listen to a playlist created based on an amalgamation of what all your friends are listening to, which is also enjoyable. Those concerned with privacy will be relieved to know you can prevent the public from seeing your personal listening habits if you so choose.

Designer Replica Leather Handbags today one of the topics that are in high demand. Many things come and go, but still fashionable. It can change over time, but still fashionable. The timeless fashion. It is even more stable than the economy we have today. Handbags are very flexible and there are people who tend to buy more than necessary. If you have any designer handbags have so much choice, is just too tempting to buy one for an event or a combination of game.
