Tough job, radio, but i think most would try it for $300000 a yr

I think you have too many zeros in you comment.
Or you forgot to put the decimal point in.

Hear hear, Fred... well said!
Bill is a class act, and deserves all the best!

Did you get your board privileges revoked?

Funny how the on-air types can fire away with both barrels at all comers (and giggle while they do it), but get oh-so-sensitive when the light turns on them.

Bill has made some comments over the years about not seeing his kids off to school, having to hit the sack before they go to bed etc. Probably a personal decision.
John's style is more in line with past RB morning men such as Crouter and Woloshyn, more laid back, and less aggressive.
I like Bill, not always agreeing with his ranting, but this is show biz. He may be in a better time slot for his style, Good Luck Billy!.

I like Bill, not always agreeing with some of his thoughts. (his spots on live @ 5:30) Don't listen to the RB. Good luck in your move though.

I've always respected Bill but not necessarily agreed with him vies. From his days at Q107 to his comments on The Journal his is always interesting. Too bad they can't bring him over to AM 640 and get rid of the annoying Charles Adler.
Good Luck Bill

Bill Carroll was a little too right leaning for 1010. With Astral at the helm they've always wanted a more Toronto friendly, left leaning fella like John Moore. Moore epitomizes the south of Bloor crowd that Mike Stafford so eloquently portrays in his blog at am640. It now appears that 1010 is simply trying to be CBC radio on am - good luck t them, I say.
It seems like a good fit for 1010 which is why I won't be listening anymore. Oakley is now the undisputed king of morning radio and Moore, well I suppose would be only the Queen....
September 25, 2009 / 10:16
I like listening ot Bill, but it works out perfectly for me now. I can now listen to John Oakley in the Morning then Bill. I now get John Tory on the way home instead of the condescending John Moore.
Fred, it was on air through Bill Carroll that I learned you got the job in Peterborough, so I find it fitting that you have his back.
September 25, 2009 / 12:26
I don't even know what forum you're even talking about!
I never listened to Bill and I won't listen to Moore in the moring. I like listening to comedy in the morning.
Go DBS!

Still pissed off that buddy would let you advertise your H&F reunion slick LOL
September 26, 2009 / 01:02
Al F, no, Kwa got it about right. Yeah, a lot of radio jobs pay s h i t, but the morning guys (or even other high profile hosts on other slots) make a lot of money. Top drawer talent in T.O would make 2 or 3 times that figure.
September 26, 2009 / 17:33
I think I read in the Globe a couple years ago that McCown was making around $500k a year. I could be wrong on that...but I think that was it.
September 30, 2009 / 08:46
I've listened to Bill for the last 7 years. Sure, he'll shill anything for a buck and it gets annoying that you hear him plugging jewellery, home reno's, beds, cars and suits more than you actually hear him actually voicing opinions. I'm waiting for him to replace the "Sham-Wow" guy on TV next. However, I am already trying out new stations for my morning entertainment. I love Oakley but I can't stand the 24/7 Leafs talk on 640. CHML 900's morning is perfect if you want to go back to sleep.
But I will NOT be listening to that self-absorbed popinjay John Moore in the A.M. The last thing I need on the QEW is to listen to how much smarter he is than the rest of Toronto. So I remain searching for a morning show before I head back to 1010 at 9:00. We have the radio playing all day at work so there will be alot of station shifting during the day. And John Tory at 4:00? A couple minutes of him and I'm nodding off at the wheel.

Other variant is possible also

I didn't mind Bills show. Until I heard his ignorant rant about the swine flu shot. But, how much do you know about the vaccine itself? The vaccine being created for this strain of influenza is really going to be almost completely untested. In fact, the makers and promoters of the swine flu shot have been granted immunity from liability should anyone suffer death or serious side effects after receiving the H1N1 vaccine.
since when are the WHO,CDC and the FDA experts in the drug trade. who sponsors these groups, BIG Pharma. The drug companies pay billions of dollars to get their drugs on the market. There is a direct conflict of interest here but no one says anything. Sometimes these independant groups and websites are the whistle blowers to alot of corrupt government officials and drug companies. We need to get our head out of the hole and wake up. Who really controls the governments, the FDA and The CDC. The so called pandemic is only benefitting one group and that is the manufacturer of the vaccines.
I would be concerned to take a vaccination that the drug companies are lobbying governments, to pass laws, to make them not responsible or liable for any side effects the vaccination may cause.

Frankly I'm glad Bill is moved. Morning drive time is no place for his overbearing, self-important bluster. It should have been called The Try-and-get-a-word-in-edgewise-on-the-Bill-Carroll-show. Or the Everything about Bill show. I swear, I would tune in and start counting. Typically before I reach 20, he'd mention his wife or kids. Yeah, yeah, we get it Bill - you're married with kids. Between that and the ad-nauseum (pun intended) personal plugs, the morning show was simply un-listenable. I think he's a fine broadcaster but whoever thought he was right for a morning show had no clue about radio and what listeners needed in the morning. Now that he's gone, I'm back.

I think the perfect solution is to hire Oakley for the morning show on cfrb
November 25, 2009 / 16:06
Jack -- "the perfect solution" in what way, and for whom? For John Oakley? For Jimmy Cauchon? For Corus? For Astral?
