I am at work by 9 and couldn't listen myself. I do listen to their show from about 6:30-8 every day.

They are the best show in Toronto.

Well Jason I can sense your frustration with the negative comments. As you know, being in the spotlight means you have to have a thick skin. (I can relate with some work I too have done).

Not everybody is gonna like the current morning show schtick..and i suspect a lot of it comes from jealousy, or an outdated sense of nostalgia.

And, I suspect a lot of older folks here look at cfny's past with rose-coloured glasses. Not ALL the music was great, and not ALL the dj's/morning shows were as good as we think they were.

Having said that,much like many of you here, my high school years were spent listening to cfny and it's dj's. It was the only radio station i could hear certain bands i enjoyed. Q and cfny were mortal enemies - the dj's at Q essentially thought all the dj's at 'ny were gay (and some were/am), and there was a huge musical divide because cfny's music back then tended to me more obscure compared to "straight ahead rock and roll" u'd find on conventional rock radio.

Nowadays...what..maybe 60 or 70% of the edge's playlist you'd also find on other stations?.. whereas in say, 1985, you think you'd hear a Smiths song anywhere else?

So,that's the main thing that irks me about today's edge. I want to like it but for one, the repetition kills me, even with the songs i like (eg airborne toxic event / the stills). Maybe i'm just old, but bands like Tool are just screaming white noise to me. I'm all for guitars (green day) but as Moe Berg once sang in i'm an adult now"... "screaming/screaming"

There's so much good new music out there but, it's a business after all, so a lot of the "weird" stuff is simply ignored in favour of enless rotation of top 40 alt.pop like the chilli's, sum41 and nickelback.

Times have changed folks. Just get your new music online and cherish the spirit of radio for what it was. We'll never get that back.

The repeat cycle at the "Edge", is 7 times in a 24 hour period.....that's almost once every 3 hours. Absolutely nauseating. That's what I meant about a downward spiral.

But, I have to agree with some of the commenters. I like the Dean Blundell show, but the station in general seems to have drifted toward generic modern rock radio. Too bad.

I'm a 40 something who listened to Q107 in high school. Scruff Connors and, later, Gene Valitas couldn't be beat. For a myriad of reasons I left the Toronto radio scene until the late 90's. This is when I found the Edge when alt rock was still relatively "new music". I listened mainly in the evenings and late night, but was astounded to hear the recycled hack from Windsor on the morning show. That was the best you could do against Stern? No thanks.

It's not nostalgia I'm looking for. It's the music mix (old and new) one a long repeat cycle; twice a day would be nice. I can't really find that so I have four gig of music playing and hardly hear the same song twice in a week.

I'm with Ian, I dont' mind change, I dont' mind new. Once upon a time H&F were new to me, CFNY was new to me. I don't want the old CFNY back, it had it's time and place.

What pisses me off instead of CFNY progressing with the times and maintaining the listenership that was loyal to it, they a mere shadow of the spirit they had. What is so edgey about "The Edge"?

Like I said before when people asked my why I listened to the Edge, it was because the station was awesome. Nothing in Toronto compares now. In my experience now, people listen to the Edge "because what else is there?"

And for what it's worth the only reason I ever listened to blundell's show was because of Jason's witt. He's the only one that made me laugh. Unfortunately that only carried me for so long.

For the most part The Edge can't win. The music biz has damn near killed them. "Alternative" became mainstream (The Clash on Q107? Really?) and nothing has come to take its place. You end up with either highly repetitive rotation of a very few "new" acts or a lot of the old stuff. There needs to be a new revolution in music.

As for the morning show... sigh. Just don't find them funny or interesting. Sorry.

Was great to hear Fred and Geets back on CFNY. That almost sounds like a new morning show, but I digress. Ya things have changed,radio is a good indicator of that. First of all - I hope it does cause MLB some major angst. Their role in all of this is significant. Selig should be forced to step down. Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE knew what was going on. And rather than confront it Selig and his merry band of synchophants decided to ignore it. Ignore it as Bonds heads swelled to gargantuan proportions. Clemons is a major league tool and frankly deserves what he's about to get......:-)
