Hey Freddie, I was checkin' out your site and came across your posting about the Sports Zone. I remember that show, and I loved it.
You did some whacky shit on that show but I'll always remember the night you did a neat bit with your son Danny about playing hockey. I had met him with you at a baseball game the summer before.
Ever thought of doing another show like that?

I've thought about doing several things, the problem is getting them off the ground. But here's that bit you mentioned. It was the fall of 1988.

The CBC needs to do more show that have originality that doesn't just involved politically correct ideas, marginalized folks, bizarre art festivals or hosts tatted up with lots of piercing.
Like a lot of things at the CBC Sports Zone was ahead of its time an probably not hip enough for the the same bunch that cancelled Don Messer & Air Farce for being to much like normal Canadians. Didn't like Don Messer but alot of Canadians connected with his show,
not a fan either of Air Farce but the CBC forcing them to end their run disappointed a many Canadians.
CBC needs to reconnect with Canadians if it hopes to survive.

From what I remember you always had a beer after playing hockey, did you and Dan have a beer when you got home after this lesson... sort of continuing the lesson and Patterson tradition of hockey and beer.

I remember when DP was that age and now he and I are working together on a TV show that features hot chicks in bikinis and guys dressed in sumo suits.
He's still a good boy but I also miss him at that age...
