Excuse Me?

May 25, 2009 @ 23:15

After repeated, vigorous cuts through the flesh the Queen's representative turned to the woman beside her and asked enthusiastically: "Could I try the heart?" - Afterward she grabbed a tissue to wipe clean her blood-soaked fingers.

Governor General eats raw seal heart to show support for hunt.

Excuse ME? Good for her! That's what I would call supporting REAL Canadians and their livelihood! Talk about getting her fingers dirty! Walking in someone else's shoes, changes ones opinion.

Horonymous
May 26, 2009 / 09:14

I thought that she was just following the example our our Prime Minister who dines on the hearts of Canadians daily.

Gene
May 26, 2009 / 09:19

How about some examples Horonymous? Just a couple.

Henry
May 26, 2009 / 10:18

Yikes!! I'm actually sort of impressed by this. At least she walks the talk.

Frank
May 26, 2009 / 10:42

Impressive. Doesn't 'seal' it for me but she scored some points.

Argie
May 26, 2009 / 11:06

I never liked her and I still don't like her. She also stated she wanted a university built for the Inuit (real name: Eskimos). What a great idea for a culture that has a small percentage of people who actually get to high school. What an idiot!

Mike from Lowville
May 26, 2009 / 13:01

Argie: Inuit(real name:Eskimos)is partially correct. Inuit are descendants of a prehistoric hunting society that spread across Canada from Alaska and centered on capturing massive bowhead whales. This culture, was called Thule by archaeologists. Inuit are their direct descendent's. To deny and education because of proximity is sad.

Mike from Lowville

To deny an education because of proximity is sad.

Damn, I proof read that, twice!

Horonymous
May 26, 2009 / 16:02

Well Gene it's a metaphor please find a link to the definition here.

Harper is leaving a lot of Canadians in dire straights with the unequal EI rules.
He might as well be dining on their hearts.

Good on her!
Now Freddie, maybe if you can get her up to the camp she could help you out with your goose problem!

She also was overheard saying "if that bitch Heather Mills comes back here, I'll chew off her other leg" she then spun her head completely around....

Pat
May 27, 2009 / 09:12

The GG's following of Inuit tradition may be shocking to us, but it's rather honourable to her hosts.

Please read a bit on other cultures and traditions, nay-sayers.

Argie
May 27, 2009 / 11:13

Pat,

I'm not a vegetarian but what she did was wrong on so many levels. I don't know her intentions but to sit down with these people and eat raw meat including the heart from a gutted seal was inappropriate for a Governor General (the Queen's representative).

If anything it only made these people look like the savages that most civilized people think they are.

Pat
May 27, 2009 / 12:27

Yes, and as The Queen's Representative, she must appeal to ALL Canadians...including The Inuit.
Again, whether WE agree it was barbaric/upsetting/wrong etc., it still represents an offer of understanding and acceptance to a part of Canadian Culture.

Would you or I do it?? Not a chance.
Would I represent The Queen? Again, not a chance.

Homer
May 27, 2009 / 12:28

Pat
May 27, 2009 / 12:33

Like a bigot??

Argie
May 27, 2009 / 12:41

Ah, the bigot card has been played. Can't be long until we hear the R word. I'll give it a few minutes......

The truth sometimes hurts, Homer and pat.

Congrats to her. She's impressed me more with this gesture than Adrienne Clarkson did during her entire trainwreck of a tenure.

I'd love to try that myself.

Horonymous
May 27, 2009 / 18:04

What's the difference between a bigot and a racist? Yes I know I cold google it but this is more fun

Frank the Tank
May 28, 2009 / 00:17

Leave it to Argie to be so kind to any other culture. Savages that most civilized people think they are???? You pick any culture out there that doesn't partake in some part of the animal that might seem disgusting to one person but be treated as a delicacy to another, from sheep brains, animal stomachs, testicles, eyes, tongues, feet you name it one culture or another eats it off some animal. I think Argie just comes on here now because he has nothing original to say so he just spouts off about god being great and glowering down at any person he views as a sub caste.

Argie
May 28, 2009 / 09:57

Frank: Long time to no see.......

Glad to have you back, where were you? Did your mom cut off your internet use? Does she know you're using it again?

Just tell her to bugger off! I enjoy your posts, really.

All we need is that tool 'Ben Vidal' to return. Whatever happened to him?

IanS
May 28, 2009 / 10:15

I'm not a fan of the GG at all, but if you expand the example and look at our (southern) own normalcy, go into any grocery store and right beside the beef liver are hearts and kidneys and other "innards". Seal is the Inuit's beef. No difference. Just a lack of knowledge and understanding. The raw part is just a part of culture and tradition. Sushi anyone?

Argie
May 28, 2009 / 10:40

The people who are defending the GG are likely the same people who look down with glee at rural hunters. Sure, its OK to call these guys hillbillies but when an unqualified, intelligible Haitian eats a seal heart - raw - with a bunch of eskimos, its all good.

Try to be consistent - I don't like hunters and I sure as hell don't like morons like our GG eating raw meat for the cameras. Its wrong for so many reasons.

Pat
May 28, 2009 / 10:46

Ahh, Argie is the *troll* here. I see.

IanS
May 28, 2009 / 10:54

Yes Pat, Argie is the troll here, but I'll bite (just this once).

I don't mind rural hunters. I'm glad they are rural and not hunting in the cities.

Argie
May 28, 2009 / 11:08

Pat: If troll means 'the only person here with common sense and decency' well that's me.

blahblah
May 28, 2009 / 11:24

Argie, are you by any chance from the superior western culture that treats the elderly so well?

Pat
May 28, 2009 / 11:24

You forgot 'humility'.

Trish
May 28, 2009 / 13:21

Being from Haiti she's familiar with voodoo. What's the difference between a sacrificial goat and a seal? That said, I agree with what she did. At least she isn't touring northern Europe first class with a plane full of well-heeled friends, all on the Canadian taxpayer's dime. Some of you people need to get real.

Frank the Tank
May 28, 2009 / 14:07

for the most part posting has been a waste of time because the same people post the same thing all the time. You my friend are perhaps the most close minded ignorant person to post on here aside from right upper cut. If waving around that fairy tale called abible produces hateful people like you what a great religion it must be

Argie
May 28, 2009 / 14:28

Frank: I don't waive around the Bible, in fact I don't think I've ever quoted scripture from it. As for being 'close minded and ignorant' , I just happen to have strong opinions on certain subjects. If that comes across as close minded and ignorant, so be it.

Unlike you when I give my opinion, I just give it - I don't insult other posters. If they insult me, then I'll retaliate.

blahblah
May 28, 2009 / 14:44

"waive around the bible"? Too funny. How come you righties so often have such bad English?

Argie
May 28, 2009 / 14:50

blah: You're too funny.....

blahblah
May 28, 2009 / 15:15

It was funny? I thought it was kind of sad really.

And Frank made an excellent point about hateful people. You really do come across as a bitter, belligerent and spiteful. Now this is a fact - this is the impression you give, end of story, and I don't care what you have to say about it. Ponder it in church next Sunday.

Argie
May 28, 2009 / 15:20

blah: Since you're in bed with Frank now, you should know it was him that wrote about 'waving around abible'. I understood he was writing about Bible waiving.

IanS
May 28, 2009 / 16:53

Argie, it's spelt wave. As in wave the bible. Frank wrote waving, the verb of to wave. You wrote waive, as in to throw away your rights; to waive your rights. Not exactly the same thing. And yes, sad, very sad.

Argie
May 28, 2009 / 17:08

IanS: Thank you so much for correcting me on my spelling mistake. I'm feel so stupid that I take back everything I wrote earlier. After all I lost all credibility due to that one mistake. Again, thank you.

God, I hope I didn't make any further spelling or grammatical errors. Like you said Ian, sad indeed (What I really mean is: Get a life bud!)

blahblah
May 28, 2009 / 17:18

Wrong! You never earned any credibility to start with. You made some dumb hatemongering comments, then failed to answer any challenges about your silly little religion.

Argie
May 28, 2009 / 17:29

blah: Wow! I make a disparaging comment about the GG in regards to her acting a like a savage and its 'hate mongering'???

You are a complete moron. I know I'm wasting my time with you and the others but its got to be said.

As for my 'silly religion' I have no idea what my religion has to do with my opinion of our GG. I suggest you step away from the computer before you write any further crap.

Argue the issue at hand - was the GG acting properly when she chowed down on a raw seal heart?

blahblah
May 28, 2009 / 17:47

I was referring more to your condescending and insulting tone towards the native people of this country.

And yes, Clarkson was acting respectfully and decently. From a woman's point of view it's probably equivalent to putting a man's junk in her mouth. I guess that offends you too?

IanS
May 28, 2009 / 19:31

Argie, Yes. The GG was right to do it. She wasn't doing anything wrong.

I bet you visit places and only eat your white bread and plain water because other cultures frighten you. Other people aren't like that. They want to expand their minds and think freely.

Frank the Tank
May 28, 2009 / 20:25

Yes blah blah, as was I. Argie and his holier than everyone else(in too many respects) attitude is what sparked this. "Savages that most civilized people think they are" was the quote.

You run with a sad bunch of people Argie if that's what you inner circle thinks, because I don't know a single person that refers to, or considers inuits savages.

Ian S thinking freely isn't Argie's strong point. AS for the reference to religion Argie. Your post on fred's other blog about Dani from edge 102.1 suffering from depression; immediately you prescribe religion as a means to feel better. If you only knew the amount of teens and 20 somethings that my father has seen/counselled over the last 20 years who's depression has either been aggravated due to the oppressive nature of religion or found no help at all from reading the sctriptue or talking to one of those real priests(as opposed to the fake ones). Most of this comes from the problem of taking a fairy tale and trying to apply it to real life or trying to find an answer in it. I mean I know that any book that tells me there was a talking snake or deatils one fish being magically turned into thousands is a good thing to use for anyone suffering from clinical depression.

blah writes:"your condescending and insulting tone towards the native people of this country."

Wow, I almost teared up - I feel so bad. Its OK rip apart my religion followed by over a billion people in this world, but God forbid if I insult a bunch of eskimos??? Now that really is funny....

Ian: Sorry, I like my food cooked and not dripping in blood. To each his own, I guess.

Frank: It sounds like your father should have been spending more time with you instead of his young patients. At the end of the day, you appear to be more screwed up than those kids he supposedly tried to help.

Is it possible he just wasn't a good shrink? And perhaps he only made things worse?

Thank you gents, its been fun but I've wasted enough energy on you fools.

James Edgar
May 29, 2009 / 17:25

Thanks People that was a good read! Argie as always you are entertaining as hell.

My 2 cents she did the right thing. She's the GG of Canada which includes the Inuit so honouring their customs is the least she can do.

Thanks, james. Try not to fall off your bike, you fat turd.....

IanS

Ed
May 29, 2009 / 18:37

Wow, lighten up people. Let the GG eat what she wants. And the religion thing, just let it go. Other than politics, there is no other topic more divisive than that. You like what you like and who are we to say? I used to say 'Oh this is a great song' (or what ever). But then I grew up and realized it was good for me but everyone is not like me and that's good too.

I'm trying to find a recycling center in New York (I live in Brooklyn). In my school, we are collecting plastic bottles and aluminum cans to take them to a recycling center as a fundraiser. Apparently my teacher and I searched the web and we can't find any recycling centers in the boroughs (looking for ones that give you 5 cents per item or any that give u money for a certain amount of recycled items). Does anyone know of any recycling centers where we can get money (no prizes) for our cans and bottles? It will greatly appreciated.

Lil Freak
November 27, 2010 / 15:56

It's already been 6 months since Usher unleashed his hood banger Lil Freak, and I still enjoy it. The Stevie Wonder sample fits wonderfully with his passionate vocals and the horns work well with Nicki Minaj's fierce rapping style. Even though this track didn't chart as high as Usher's other song, OMG, Lil Freak is the better song, maybe the best on the album.
