I have a friend who worked for Immigration.
Many years ago they messed with Citizenship. At the first meeting with the two groups about to join, one bureacrat stood up in typical-as he calls it Regionite [Yonge and Sheppard] fashion and scolded the Imm staff for letting refugees into Canada who return HOME 3 or 4 times to visit before their Citizenship application is addressed. ie Tamils [and others] left their horrible countries due to problems at home but can return at will. Bogus?

Somebody should point out to those protesting a simple fact.
If you want to get support, you don't piss off those that you're trying to get support from.
Hence if you want sympathy from the common man and you want sympathy from the government he elects and supports with his tax dollars... educate him, don't aggrivate him.

I agree with Pauly...I'm not sure what they are trying to accomplish with the chaos they're creating in TO...but at the same time people ignored what was happening in Rawanda prior to that massacre and years before that they ignored (or chose to ignore)the events leading up to WWII.

Freddie, I couldn't agree with you more.
Previous to this protest I was understanding of their plight, but growing aggravated with their disruptive protests. This latest protest has reduced my understanding and sympathy for their cause to zero.
Enough is enough. Pull out the fire hoses and wash these "street terrorists" off of the public roadways.
I feel bad for those quiet, law-abiding, respectable Canadian citizens with Tamil roots for having to be painted with the stain that these protestors will leave.

As I watch all the coverage of this event every night on the news, it makes me wonder:
Do any of those people work? Of those who don't work, are they on social assisstance? Of those on social assistance, are they actively looking for a job?
Why don't any of the Tamil people speak out against this type of circus? Is it because they are afraid of retribution? A slit throat perhaps?
We need a couple of large water cannon trucks to drive down University Av. If it is help they are looking for, I will give them 10,000 liters of help!

You can bet the Toronto Star bought the mailing lists of these two groups long ago in an effort to drive up its circulation. Catering to immigrants with no loyalty toward Canada is right up that paper's wheelhouse. If they want to behave like cattle on our University Avenue then we should indulge them. Let's confiscate their convenient Canadian passports, herd them into as many 747s as needed and ship them collect back to Sri Lanka or Tamiltopia - whichever turns their crank. It's about time Canada took a hard line.
