1977 on CFNY. A CRTC-ordered community show called "High School Report".

I'm picked by the principal at J.A. Turner to be the weekly contributor.

I show up with my script and a producer named Lorna and I do a number of takes. We finish and I'm prepared to listen on the big day.

Terry McGullicut (SP?) is the afternoon host and needs to burn away five minutes of foreground programming and introduces "High School Report". "Today's focus: J.A. Turner in Brampton with reporter Mike Stafford."

I'm listening, the principal and as many people as I've told are listening. Given CFNY's transmitter at the time, about 23 people are listening.

"I'm Mike Stafford and this is the J.A. Turner High School report. This was a great week for the school's junior Peel footfall tream....aw, fuck Lorna, can I start again?"

Terry stopped the tape and intoned, "High School Report will not be heard this week, now another track from Emerson Lake and Palmer's Works, Volume One....."

I probably should have taken the clue and stopped the radio dream back then!
