J(er)k Layton

January 27, 2009 @ 19:30

I wrote about this a couple of weeks ago, but on the heels of the federal budget I have to say it again.

I wonder if we're in the final chapter of the little big man.

Or should I say the big little man, or the guy who dreams of being big but is nothing more than a little dot on the Canadian political landscape.

Jack Layton will get to play politics over the next couple of days and personally it's enough to make me physically sick.

We have a great political system in Canada, but every so often its flaws are exposed, and that's where we are right now with a coaltion hanging over our heads.

Even before the budget was delivered yesterday, Layton vowed he would not support it, and once it was handed down yesterday, he didn't disappoint. He quickly ran for the television lights and started to spew his socialist nonsense.

The man is power hungry. Yes, all politicians tend to be that way, but this guy is something else.

He's the leader of a dormant, irrelevant party that hasn't gained an inch since he became leader, but he looks at the current situation as an opportunity to grab power that he could never get through a ballot box.

Over the next couple of days Jack Layton will move from insulting the Conservatives, to insulting the Liberals if they decide to support yesterday's budget.

This guy is desperate for a coalition because he knows if the Liberals support the budget, not only will he never have a shot at power, he'll probably lose the confidence of his party and be forced to go away.

And if that happens, it will be good for everyone.

Jack Layton is doing nothing for the NDP let alone for the rest of us. He's offered nothing but a steady stream of bullroar with nothing to back it up. Even as he dreams of a coalition he offers nothing in the way of alternatives.

He criticizes every aspect of yesterday's budget, while pretending to hold the "real" answers close to his chest.

He's full of it.

Jack has no answers because Jack doesn't deal in reality. He deals in the world of socialism which has an approval rating in this country of about 12 percent.

Can you imagine this man was given any degree of power in this country? Can you imagine if he had a say in our lives? I shudder at the thought.

Jack Layton is bad for Canada and the sooner he goes away the better.

I found it interesting yesterday while watching coverage of the budge on CTV Newsnet.

There on the screen was Toronto Mayor David Miller, a staunch NDPer. They were asking his opinion on the budget and of course he didn't like it because it didn't do enough for Toronto.

I had to chuckle because the immediate question that came to my mind was this.

"What have you done for the city of Toronto Mr. Miller?"

He's done absolutely nothing; in fact he's caused it irreparable damage.

Exactly what Layton would do to the country.

Mr Patterson;

How absolutely unprofessional of you to represent the Corus radio network on this blog and attack members of the House of Commons

I'll be contacting your superiors at Corus Radio to inquire why they allow you to post such biased & hateful comments

Oh; hit the road... Jerk!

There's a more appropriate 'house' for you, than the House Of Commons by the way.

We've had enough of your constant 'Eeee-Jack-U-Layton,' while your party tries to suck and swallow more $$$ from hard-working taxpayers.

Once again, Layton is driving right-wingers nutty! The post trashing him is twice as long as the post that gives Harper a reach around on the budget and his overall genius. I hope Layton stays in parliament forever. I love seeing conservatives walking around with giant patches of hair missing.

Then again, conservatives should love Layton just as much. Who would the right blame for their party's failed political maneuvering and bad policies if Layton wasn't around? Be thankful you have someone to point to when things don't go your way, instead of having to actually rethink your positions.

Gee, I am sure Freddie P must be shaking in his boots by now.

Jerk Layton, please get a life. The way I see it, Freddie doesn't represent Corus Radio on this blog, these are his personal opinions, just like the rest of us who post our comments.

Corus Radio hires Talk show hosts in every market who give their OWN opinion !

Jerk Layton

Low blow and classless to bring where Fred works into your argument. You fail.

When it comes to Fred's view on politics we have opinions that are quite different. I do how ever respect Fred's right as a private citizen to express himself. Fred posts his real name here and unlike most of us who have screen names has no anonymity.

Fred let's us post our views here without censorship or moderation.

How about if you don't agree with Fred to post some engaging argument to contest his views?

Jerk Layton the poster, not the politician, you sir are an asshat.

As for Fred's take on Jack Layton. Like all politician power is what he endeavors for and will do what is needed to get it. Just as the Conservatives had discussions with the Bloc in the past Mr Layton and Mr Dion saw it as a way to offer Canadians a different government. Mr Harper would do the same to retain/gain power.

oh no Freddie not your superiors.... I hope you had a nice contract.
Mr Layton is this how you are trying help the unemployment rate by making threats that you are going to go to Freddie's boss and have him reprimanded for a personal opinion that he posted on his own site
I would think that a man with your personality MR Layton would be use to being called names

I've notice that Jack has retired the "Health Card not a Credit Card" and "The Kitchen Table not the Boardroom Table" for
HOPE and CHANGE for his sound bites for the Media.
I guess next he will find a way to weasle "YES, WE CAN!" in.
I'm sure he's made a phone call to BNL for a little theame music to be posted on you tube.

Mr. Layton.
Is this what we can look forward to if you were in control of the country. You don't even know your own name. Your name is Jack not Jerk. I think I can get you a new job with Mr. Blago in Chicago.

Unfortunately Mr. Layton has lost all sense of reality. The posts on this subject are very good and in most cases strike very close to the truth. It is unfortunate in this day and age we have to endure the senseless, bi est and immature rantings of a moron who thinks the world owes him a living. Jack; you are well past your best before date.... Steve

so called Jerk L was rattling a few chains...chill pill folks.
If Iggy agrees the budget passes. The alternative is to put up with the real JL.
I'm sure he doesn't want the Bloc and NDP trying to bust his Harvard balls.
Besides what opposition party ever applauded a budget?
It'll pass and he'll get his comments in before he passes it.
Job losses are mounting. People have money but aren't spending. Someone mentioned a GST freeze on Canadian goods. Makes sense?

Brings up a question?
In tough economic times TV and radio must suffer with the lose of ad revenue?

Jack, will you come work for me, shovelling shit for $9.35 hr. on my hog farm?

Mikey

Does anyone really think that first post was the real Jack Layton? I can't believe you're giving it this much attention. IT'S FAKE!!

Mikey
January 28, 2009 / 11:32

Jake makes some good points, but I don't think a GST freeze on anything will get people spending. Is anyone spending more money now that the GST is down two percent?

Freddie, I agree with you wholeheartedly, with one amendment. Harper must go too. Too much devisiveness. He isn't a leader either.

What I find amusing is that the Conservatives have finally opened their wallet to spend on infrastructure, public housing, etc.

A few months ago, Mr Layton was complaining that the Government was not spending is these areas. Now that they are, Mr Layton is still not happy. In fact, it is easy to see that he would vote against anything brought forward by the Conservatives just because they are the Conservatives. He really doesn't care at all about the average Canadian.

Mr Layton was on television last night, complaining about the cuts to corporate tax rates. What he fails to understand is that these tax cuts will encourage business to expand and hire more people. Raise the tax rates, and your tax base will diminish - just ask the Ontario NDP party exactly what happened then they tried the same strategy.

Freddie, I hope that you are right in that we have seen the last of the person. Perhaps he can return to his taxpayer subsidized housing and disappear forever.

I'm certain the real Jerk Layton doesn't have time to read blogs. He's too busy storming the barracks and staging the next coup. There's backs to be stabbed, jugulars to be sliced - the work never ends. Michael Ignatieff - look out.

Jerk or Jack, same difference. This guy is over.

I love that photo of Layton. it really captures him at his scenery-chewing best.

To Jerk/Jack Layton: My only regret is that there likely won't be an election soon. Consider yourself fortunate -you probably won't be dumped from your party right away, but just the same, I'm told Dictator Chavez of Venuezuela has a few job openings...
