to answer your question, probably not. As I discussed with Freddie today on the phone, the tone of the piece doesn't need those last two appropriate words. The feelings are already expressed there in both senses of the word "bastard". If my students are interested in blogging, and Freddie's ideas, they can find this blog easily enough.

What's wrong with the word bastard? It was used, surprisingly, quite regularily on official government documents before and since the Victorian era.

And; "BASTARDS!" was also used as a banner headline the morning after September 11th, 2001 by the Toronto Sun... as the World Trade Center burned on the front page.
Very appropriate; and it summed up the Islamic terrorist activity in one concise word.
How many kids saw that headline?
I suspect we have too many 'bastards' such as "Mr." Kurt running around and shooting off in too many different ways.
