Power And Treason

December 1, 2008 @ 22:07

It's rather simple, the coalition government that was formed Monday could not have happened without the support of the separatist Bloc Quebecois.

Therefore, anyone who supports this coalition in any form should no longer call themselves a Canadian.

Jack Layton and Stephane Dion could not have put together their plan to overthrow our government without calling a separatist into a room and offering him something.

If you agree with what happened on Monday afternoon, everything our fathers and grandfathers fought for means nothing to you. It can't. You agree that a separatist should have a say in our government, and don't kid yourself, he will.

Jack Layton and Stephane Dion may have dressed it up nicely but nothing could have gone forward without Gilles Duceppe getting his slimy treasonous hands on some degree of power.

Anyone in this country who agrees with any part of what happened in Canada on December 1st, 2008 should be ashamed of themselves; you gave up on your country today. You should no longer call yourself a Canadian.

Meanwhile, if this deal with the separatists goes forward, at the very least it should go to a vote. If the Liberals and NDP really feel that they're read to govern then we should go back to the polls regardless of the cost.

And to take it one step further, I totally agree with Ryan Doyle of CFRB who made a great point on his show Monday night. We should go back to the polls and Layton and Dion should run on a coalition ticket.

The NDP and Liberals should band together and run against the Conservatives straight up.

Of course they probably wouldn't want any part of it now because they've pissed off so many people across the country, Harper would probably get the majority he deserves.

Watching Monday's press conference was extremely amusing. Several times the three Back Room Boys were asked to put a precise price tag and a time table on their plans that will supposedly save the country, but they wouldn't. They wouldn't because they couldn't and they couldn't because none of them has any idea how to run a country.

Stephane Dion gave the Liberals their worst showing in 141 years, while the socialist Jack Layton has failed to move his fourth place party ahead by one stinkin' inch during his leadership.

Part of me would like to see Layton thrown into power so we could actually see what would happen. I'm sure it would be similar to the disastrous reign of Bob Rae's Ontario Socialists in the early 90's, probably even worse.

If anyone out there thinks for one minute that what happened to Canada on December 1st, 2008 had anything to do with the economy, or was done to help or save the country you are sadly mistaken.

This was a power grab initiated by Jack Layton who knows he could never be voted into a position of power in Canada, so he jumped into bed with a Liberal who was overwhelmingly rejected by Canadians just six weeks ago, and he jumped into bed with a separatist, a man whose sole purpose is to break up our country - and let it be known that Layton had initial coalition talks with the separatist the week following the election, long before he got to use the "state of the economy" excuse.

If this makes you happy then you ought to be ashamed of yourself.

And one last point. The Kooky Coalition, without details or timetables is floating the idea of an expensive stimulus package.

To do this before we get Barack Obama's economic plans and the American government's plans for the big three auto makers is absolutely, positively irresponsible.

But then again it's not about Canada. It's all about power..... and treason.

I urge all "Canadians" to get off your ass over the next few days and contact your member of parliament and voice your displeasure.

You can also contact the Governor General and at the very least demand another election.

This is great. Harper shot himself in the foot.

The Conservatives would do exactly the same if they had to keep power.

Brian Mulrooney PC's were full of Separatists and gave birth to the Bloc.

So if you're charging folks with treason start with some your conservative heroes.

Harper may be wounded but he's still very smart and the Lib/NDP members may be dancing a little too soon.

Bravo Horonymous, I agree 100%. Good Ol' Stephen is probably pissed he didn't come up with this first. Either way Fred stop crying if this was truly illegal then it wouldn't even be allowed by the governor general; which she might now allow anyways. Stop the drama about what our fathers and grandfathers fought for. They didn't fight to have a Pm who was a bully. Finally the big guy pushing around his weight got pushed back. You still won't address his calling an election conveiniently right before the economy goes down the toilet. You can blame it on the media all you want, but Mr Stephen has not addressed anything properly yet, his talk about it's now time to buy stocks is eerily familiar to Bush saying go out and buy stuff keep the economy going after 911. Perhaps this will work perhaps it won't. In all honesty, I think this coalition should be made up of some good Conservatives currently running the government. Unfortunately finding one is like a needle in a hay stack. Peter Mckay should be allowed to stay on and the finance minister well he can be the book keeper for Stephan. As for not calling myself a Canadian, there are a couple of places you can go, but my comments wouldn't be processed. My Canada never involved Harper.

Hey Frank.. did anyone in your family fight for this country? Think about that when you look at the picture of Layton shaking hands with the seperatist.
It's got nothing to do with bullies or being illegal.
It's got everything to do with what made the coalition possible.
Wake up.

Go Coalition!!!

I think it's about time they did this. Coalition governments are quite common all over the world. Maybe now the Reform/Conservatives won't govern like they have the divine right to make policy. Harper failed to win a majority, and when you do that, losing power is always an option. The opposition isn't "stealing" power, they're finally choosing to exercise their right to take over from an ignorant, self-centred jerk. Harper is finally getting what he deserved. Too bad they didn't do this to Harper's first minority - would have been a much stronger coalition.

Finally we get to see democracy in action, rather than Harper's inaction.

I hope he makes Paul Martin the finance minister again. Then maybe they can fix what Harper screwed up.

Hey Freddie, where were you when the Bloc help get the first Conservative budget passed after the 2006 election? Not a lot of bitching and moaning then I bet. Guess you're not a Canadian either? Hypocrites like you make me unbelievably sick, and the venom you spew when you don't get your way is astounding. You're going to have to face the FACT that this coalition, unlike the Conservative caucus, represents the majority of Canadians, and in our parliamentary system it is well within their right to form a Government. The view you share with Mr. Harper that this process is undemocratic is absolutely false. The fact that Harper tried the same move in 2004 I guess is lost on you too. Unreal....please give your head a shake.

Well I must say I agree with Freddie on this one.
Everything my Grandfather faught and died for was just made a mockery of on Monday.
This is not Democracy.
This is Treason at its best or at least a few men who really want there chance to destroy everything and anything we hold dear.
If you agree with it I hope you no longer call yourself a Canadian, You don't deserve too.

I have written to the GG to ask her to not allow this coalition. So what if other countries have coalitions. They also elections every few months when those coalitions break down like the Italians. Do we really want to model our parliament after them? That's no argument.

The Treasonous Three should be hanged along with anyone who supports them in this.

Freddie P.
December 2, 2008 / 08:33

Ottebrite, can you not read?
Not once did I mention anything about this being undemocratic. I'm fully aware that this is "legal." and within the rules. The problem I have is forming a coalition with a seperatist and I'd have felt the same way if Harper had done it back in '04 but he didn't.
As for the Bloc supporting '06 budget, that's immaterial in this case. Duceppe supported it because it worked for Quebec.
Ottenbrite, give your head a shake, you're hate for Harper has allowed you to embrace seperatists.
You should be proud!

The average Canadian who doesn't really follow politics will see that people he/she didn't even vote for are now running the country (or trying to).

When something like this happens, is anyone really surprised that voter turnout is so low?

And voter apathy so high?

What a waste of time.

I think this makes Canada look like a banana republic!
If they want to form a coalition government, lets have another election and make them run on their coalition ticket and see how they do.
I can't believe they are siding with a separatist party.

The way I see it.

Anybody that goes into a written formal agreement to govern with the Bloc should be put on trial and hanged for treason. Passing a law through government is bad enough using those bastards, but to have them run the country for 18 months with a formal document is disgusting. Frankly, the Bloc shouldn't be there at all period, but we crossed that bridge long ago and didn't do F all about it.

#2 Harper F'd up... He pushed his luck and now he has to pay for it.

#3 Harper shouldn't have flip-flopped.

#4 All these people that think the Coalition is a good idea... you're going to get what you asked for. With all the fall out, be it the weakness in the dollar, to Dion bumbling around on the world stage, to Layton crawling over his dying mother to get the power he wants and sticking his face in every second of newsreel, to Duceppe getting the legitimacy he wants... it will all come back to us in spades. Watch. And these coalitin backers are so biased, so near-sighted, they're just happy to have Harper out. You evern hear of the saying "better the devil you know than the devil you don't"? we're about to learn what that means.

How many people knew the word proroguing before last week?

I know I didn't.

Next week will be very interesting to see how Harper will try and scuttle to coalition.

As for the personal isults being thrown back and forth is quite disappointing.

Fred is not a hypocrite he has he beliefs just like the rest of us.

As for those of you wanting to hang folks.
Don't think that is very democratic of you.

Most folks who voted for the Bloc voted for them because they think the Bloc will do the best job for them in Ottawa. Most folks in Quebec want to remain part of Canada.

Since this thread seems full of true Canadians how many speak both of out official languages?

I know I do.

"As leaders of the opposition parties, we are well aware that, given the Liberal minority government, you could be asked by the Prime Minister to dissolve the 38th Parliament at any time should the House of Commons fail to support some part of the government’s program. We respectfully point out that the opposition parties, who together constitute a majority in the House, have been in close consultation. We believe that, should a request for dissolution arise this should give you cause, as constitutional practice has determined, to consult the opposition leaders and consider all of your options before exercising your constitutional authority. Your attention to this matter is appreciated."

Harper wrote that in 2004. Should he have been hung? The answer is, "No". That is the right of the opposition. It failed for Harper and hopefully it will fail for this one. While I don't agree with the move it is legal and not treason. I hope Harper wakes up and starts to govern like a minority and stop pushing everyone around. He tried and move and it failed miserbaly. Now he should be allowed to govern.

Billy Boy
December 2, 2008 / 10:32

The one thought that is completely wrong is that this IS democracy. This is actually a democratic loophole. The citizens of Canada voted in a minority Conservative government. They did not vote in a majority opposition. They did not want an opposition coalition; as that option was not on the ballot on election day. To say that the opposition coalition has the support of the majority of Canadians is a falsehood. One would have to assume that 100% of the people that voted for one of these MPs was fine with them hooking up with the treasonous Bloc MPS; and I know of many Liberal voters that want nothing to do with the Bloc.
2 final thoughts. If the coalition goes through, a man who thinks badly enough about himself to step down from his party leadership (Dion) will now be given "the keys to the car" as long as he "drives" where the socialists (Layton) and separatist (Duceppe) want him to "drive". Think about Layton, Duceppe and the little pipsqueak deciding where we are heading. Ouch!
Lastly, the Bloc would not have signed up for this if there wasn't something in it for them. THINK ABOUT THAT. The Coalition is , in part, doing something to prop a party who wants to tear apart this country.
I will write it again. THE COALITION HAS AGREED TO DO SOMETHING FAVOURABLE FOR THE BLOC QUEBECOIS; THATS SOLE PURPOSE IS TO SEPARATE THEIR PROVINCE FROM THE REST OF CANADA! Is that the coalition that has "support from the majority of this country"? I don't think so.

Ottenbrite
December 2, 2008 / 10:38

Of course, when the Bloc supports the Conservatives it's immaterial. And come on, I seriously think if the Conservatives led a coalition in '04 there'd be this kind of freaking out. Yes, Dion will not be one of the great Prime Ministers, but better anyone than Harper. I can't believe he had the gall to use a pretty serious time in the economic history of Canada to try and tighten his grip on power. Win a majority Harper!! Then you can play games with people's livelihoods all you want. Do that with a minority government, you're opening the door for the other parties to take power. Yes, separatists are terrible. But unfortunately, last time I check anyways, Quebec is still a part of Canada. People in Quebec voted for the Bloc. Therefore, do the math, as sad as it may seem the Bloc represents Canadians. Really want to change things? Parties that receive federal election funding must run a candidate in every riding. Oh Stephen, if you could only have kept it in your pants just a few more weeks...

Pauly Walnuts
December 2, 2008 / 10:48

My issue with the bloc is this. You want to run on a separatist platform, fine, that is your right. If you have the support of the people, fine off you go and good luck. What I can't stomach is the Bloc taking subsidies, salaries, pensions, etc. from the CAnadian government (aka you and me) while they are against being part of this country. Don't go sit in the parliament of the country you want to break from, and don't form a coalition with parties that you want to seperate youself from.

I say hanging not because I have a morbid obsession with it, but because the Canadian government should be a place where representatives of Canada go to work to make Canada a better place, not where you have people sit who's main intention is to work against the betterment of this Country. By definition, that is treason, and treason is punishable in this country by hanging.

It's interesting to read the hatred spewing form both sides on this from people who all appear to be experts on the subject.

I do not claim to be an expert in politics, all I know is we had an election six weeks ago and the message that seemed pretty clear at that time was, Canadians don't wnat Dion and/or Layton running the country.

If they want to overthrow the government, that's their right. But at least be big enough to take the new "solution" to Canadians and let us have our say with a vote.

I'm not too sure they'd like our response.

None of what the 3 clowns are doing is illegal nor should they be hung for it. And Fred, if a person supports this coalition they can still call themselves a Canadian.

However, and this is a big however, this coalition of a wanker, a lefty and a separatist is not the coalition I want leading this country. Currently there's not much we as citizens can do to stop this.

Lets just hope we have an election and the Cons get a majority govt which will allow Harper and his party to run the country the way it should be run.

Don't know how that strong French Quebec power base does it but they does...
from Trudeau to Mulroney to Chretien to M.Jean and S. Dion via Gerry Kennedy, they can pull strings and basically control Ottawa and thus Canada.

I am offended by the prospects of this "coalition of fools" governing our country. Irresponsible spending on cultural and infrastructure programs in Quebec, more money wasted on irresponsible social programs and a renewed level of corruption are all that we should expect.

I am neither a fan of Harper, Dion, or Layton, but feel that I am going to be the middle class guy that will be financially squeezed as a result of this. They should all be ashamed that they are unable to govern reasonably and responsibly on behalf of the people of Canada.

This just proves yet again why Canada is not a player in the world landscape of politics.

Taking over the goverment while legal is a lille slimy IMO. No matter who does it Liberals or Conservatives. But it IS legal so OK I'll live with it.
However I have a major problem with the signing of an agreement with the Bloc. Working with the Bloc may be necessary to get things done especilaly in a minority situation. Fred, I get all of the issues with the coalition. All that I ask is that you actually recognize the fact that your idol Harper has way overstepped his bounds. In a time of huge economic undertainty he chose only to play politics rather than focus on the country. If nothing else, Harper should do the honourable thing and resign as PM. Then maybe a more moderate Conservative party could focus on governing this country through a difficult time. Funny.. it seems like your conservatives (first Tory and now Harper) are just as fallable as the Liberals who you so blatantly attack. If only the conseratives could put the politics aside and listen to the people, they could actually govern for a long time

Freddie P.
December 2, 2008 / 15:16

edyfelson - man oh man some of you guys are so thick in the head it boggles the mind.
You're right - Harper is guilty of some misteps, but not nearly to the degree that you would have us believe.
What has he done other than take a moderate, slow approach with a minority government and not throw money at nothing before he gets a read on whats going to happen in the States.
Why support the car industry until we know whether it will exist in the States? Why hang your hat on anything until Obama reveals his road map?
But all that aside, and you Harper haters love to over-look it, the coaltion involves seperatists. You get it, seperatists.
Don't overlook it, don't push it aside, because its a huge thing.
To think you dislike Harper so much you're willing to accomadate seperatists is disgusting.
How do you think all the people out west who voted Conservative feel today?
Jack Layton and Stephane Dion made the separtist Bloq vote take precendent over their vote. They made it take precedent over my vote.
For Christs sakes wake up and look at what's happening to your country.
It's got nothing to do with bullies or bailouts.
Yesterday a degree of power in this country was given to seperatists and if it had been Harper selling us out I would have been just as pissed.
You should be pissed as well. If not you're a fool.

I don't mind having an election - let the people decide. But if the Liberal appointed, CBC-trained Govenor General appoints the collision government (and she will) it will be a scandal - akin to George Bush and the Florida voting scandal. A unprecdented power grab, only this time instead of one ninny running the government, they'll be three - and one of them a separatist. I can't believe the Canadian public will stand for this....

IanS
December 2, 2008 / 15:47

Darryn you just don't get it. These plans were in motion long before the Conservatives brought their initiative to the house. The Looney Three were conspiring to overthrow the government when it became apparent they weren't going to win the election.

What this is, in effect, is a bloodless coup.

Fred, I agree that Harper has taken the correct course on the economy - so far, and this coalition is a huge mistake, and in turn will be a huge mistake for the three parties all the while, strengthening the Conservative Party.
I do have a problem with the hatred this blog has towards the Bloc. This is democracy at its finest moment. We have a section of the country that is divided on whether they want to be here or not. History tells us that this scenario leads to bloodshed, and in my youth it was such here in Canada. Since that time we have had our Quebec brothers and sisters dealing with their plight in the most democratic of all fashions, by voting and using their vote intelligently, in other words, to suit their interests. For the sake of Canada, I hope they fail and as a country we grow stronger. If they decide to leave, we must honour their decision. Sorry dudes, that IS what our war heroes died for.

Fred, I knew you would vent on this and thank you for doing so. Have written to the GG's office, but little hope do I have.

And LEW, there is one BIG PROBLEM with the BLOC that I have. Can I vote for or against the BLOC in my local riding on Ontario? No. How about PEI? No? Alberta? No? BC? Bi? Manitoba? No? And the list of provinces goes on. Yet the BLOC is a federal party. How can a federal party with influence over the course of this entire country come from jsut one Province?

LEW
December 2, 2008 / 16:15

Daveg - I have a similar problem, I live on the West Coast and we are historically and continually ignored by the Ontario and Quebec run Federal government. It doesn't matter what party you vote for or are not able to vote for out here, Federal elections are finished before our polls open. It shows in the hand-outs, and federally run operations.
PS - I'm in printing - take a guess on where ALL Federal printing is done? I'm sure other industries can prove the same.

Those who don't learn the lessons of history are bound to relive them.

Harper has lost the confidence of the house - while in a minority position. He did this - no one else is responsible for this state of affairs.

It's a representative parliamentary democracy. The rules give the Governor General the right to offer the reigns to the next highest party - it's 1926 all over again.

Funny how the "law and order party" seems to have such a hard time understanding the rules?

The Conservatives snuggled up to the Bloc a couple of times to pass a bill & admittedly bent & kissed the ass of Quebec. Don't believe me, come west and ask the opinions of people out here about it.

The 1.99 given for each vote was supported by Harper..when he was in opposite. Interesting how when he's not in opposition it goes. When it works for him, it's cool, when it works against him, he tries to can it.

Harper has used seperatists votes to pass bills before dude. You read right

IanS -> Did you buddies go fight in a war so you could call people names on this site? I guess so eh.

I hate Dion and Layton, but I hate Harper too. I can't wait to see then toss out this dude. Harper's not a Conservative, he's an idiot.

And if the Conservatives did topple the government Irvine, I would be just as pissed off if they jumped into bed with the seperatists.

Ou are deez Conservatives that are toppling? I do remember as a young Quebecois lover running naked tru a field of pansies. Jack be numble Jack be quik Jack swallowed all of mon candlestick.

And why should we not be subsidizing tobacco purchases in Quebec. My first order of busyness will be to ave de rest of Canada subsidize tobacco in the nation of Quebec.

The Liberals are committing political suicide by forming this coalition with the NDP. The Bloc is not part of the coalition, but have agreed to support it for 18 months. Do you really think that a party who's sole reason for being is to destroy Canada can be trusted to keep their word? Every bill presented to the house under the coalition will require Bloc support. Unbelievable! As for the NDP, this is their only hope to govern. They will never be elected outright federally. Harper has no one but himself to blame for this mess. For a minority government to work, the party in power must work with the opposition parties. Harper has proven that he is not capable of this. This is the last thing this country needs at this time of economic uncertainty. When other countries in the world are stimulating their economies with economic stimulus packages, Harper did nothing with the release of the Economic Statement. He then had the arrogance to neuter his political rivals by cutting their funding. What did he expect? I hope this coalition doesn't see the light of day. Hopefully one of two things will happen. Harper will ask the Governor General to suspend Parliament early. Then on the first day of Parliament's return, introduce a proper Budget that the opposition can not vote against. Failing that, I hope the Governor General will send us back to the polls so that Canadians can decide.

Arrogance and little Joe Clark syndrome...this is Canada get along with the other boys and girls in the sand box and you get to keep your job. Behave like you own the sand box and you'll be expelled. Mr Harper you are the weakest link, good bye. Unfortunately we are left with the 3 little pigs and all of Canada, including P.Q. suffers.

Chris, some of what you say is true(Harper has no one but himself to blame for this mess. For a minority government to work, the party in power must work with the opposition parties. Harper has proven that he is not capable of this)( Harper did nothing with the release of the Economic Statement. He then had the arrogance to neuter his political rivals by cutting their funding. What did he expect?)but, do you really think this token figure head of our outdated system of government has a clue as to what is going on or for that matter, knows the right thing to do? She reports to the Queen of England for Christ sake.

I agree with you Irvine, but who IS good for the Conservative Party. Harper is yet to attract a star, let alone a strong team.
If she goes federal, she will probably go Liberal, but Harper should be looking to Carole Taylor to join them. And she would be a hot political babe for the FreddieP site!

December 3, 2008 / 08:30

Mike from Lowville,

The next time I want any lip out of you I'll rattle my zipper. You like to use the military to support your arguments but shit on them when they don't agree with you. That's how you treat people who have served their country? You're worthless.

Irvine,

To answer your question; no. Mike from Lowville brings it on himself. He should stick to his opinions and not try to add weight to his argument by claiming support from the military. But, I call it like I see it. And I don't back down from an idiot.

The word humble comes up with minority governments. A contradiction in terms like American intelligence in Iraq.
How humble will a 3 person coalition government be?
When each doesn't get their own way how will it go?
Come Liberal leadership time what will they do if Dion is making progress?
I have no answers...over to Robert Fife in Ottawa.

Aiden J
December 3, 2008 / 10:54

1. Harper screwed up very, very badly - he and every Conservative supporter in this country knows it. He has put this country in a very bad position in serious economic times.

2. As a Liberal supporter I am very uncomfortable with making deals with idiot Jack Layton and traitor Gilles. This could come back to haunt the Liberal Party.

3. This country needs real leadership right now. Not all these losers. No federal party has anyone capable of leading this country at this time - thus we are stuck in a rut of bickering, polarized minority governments.

4. Sir John A. MacDonald, Sir Wilfrid Laurier, Mackenzie King and Deifenbaker must all be rolling in their graves.

Paul
December 3, 2008 / 13:22

Let's put this thing into the appropriate perspective. This has nothing to do with the economy. It has everything to do with politics and power.

There is little to nothing that Canada can do to pull us from this economic mess. Our economy is driven by oil and commodities. A domestic stimulus package will not improve the outlook for this aspect of our economy.

But alas, the automotive sector is a key economic driver. However, the fundementals of this economy are much bigger than what Canada can influence. Throwing money at any of the automakers will do little to correct the more systemic issues of overcapacity and cost imbalance that have plauged domestic auto producers.

So what should have the Conservatives done? Not much more than what was proposed. So what then of the response of the oppositon? Rhetoric and power mongering plain and simple. And who will pay the price for all of this? You and I of course! It's the Canadian way :-)

Does the Canadian peoples VOTE count for nothing? If we as a country and as individuals take the time to go out to vote (since it is our right to vote as WE choose or so I have always believed) then our VOTE must count for something. I strongly object to having my vote cast aside as if it counts for nothing. It does count and I strongly object to a bad Loser stealing what he could not win honestly. If this is an example of the kind of government we can look forward to in the future, what future do we have? To be honest I did not vote for Harper but he was honestly elected, he did not steal any votes, nor do I believe in any kind of governement that would start out his term with theft. He lost, get over it and try to work to make a better united Canada. My vote DOES count, it should be enough that the Canadian people have spoken loud and clear. We are not a nation of sheep just blindly following each other along a predetermined path. We have VOTED, we have SPOKEN, that should be enough. This travesty must not be allowed to happen. I do not always agree with a lot of the decisions made in Parliament, but these are elected officials not thieves. If this is allowed to happen Canada is in deep trouble, the people are in deeper trouble and we will indeed be a nation of sheep. BAAAAA

Section 46 of the Criminal Code of Canada

Treason
(2) Every one commits treason who, in Canada,
(a) uses force or violence for the purpose of overthrowing the government of Canada or a province;

The penalty for treason is imprisonment up to a maximum of life, or up to 14 years for conduct under subsection (2)(b) or (e) in peacetime.

The coalition is a force and a violence. For those of you saying it's not treason, think again.

You should probably also ask for forgivenss for high treason while you're at it, cause you're Canadian. You commited high treason to be Canadian, one way or the other.

Between me and my husband we've owned more MP3 players over the years than I can count, including Sansas, iRivers, iPods (classic & touch), the Ibiza Rhapsody, etc. But, the last few years I've settled down to one line of players. Why? Because I was happy to discover how well-designed and fun to use the underappreciated (and widely mocked) Zunes are.

Apple now has Rhapsody as an app, which is a great start, but it is currently hampered by the inability to store locally on your iPod, and has a dismal 64kbps bit rate. If this changes, then it will somewhat negate this advantage for the Zune, but the 10 songs per month will still be a big plus in Zune Pass' favor.
