CH/Global protested against a new Television station setting up in Niagara because the Niagara regions was well served by CH.
The only show focusing on Niagara was cancelled recently cancelled as was its host Dan McLean.
What a class act CH/Global is, shoving Dan out the door so close to his retirement.

I would and never will watch that Global news dribble and almost tuned out CH when the take over happened. I stayed because I was loyal to the people there. When they announced they were switching back the CHCH I was ecstatic. Then found out it was now the E channel! Just about left again (and told them so) but again stayed because of the people. Now I'm not too sure. Connie's gone now Dan. Who's next Matt and Maria Hayes? F'in Corporations. There should be a law!

I agree with "Speyside Phil". Mark & Donna's Live at 5:30 is what keeps me coming back to CHCH-TV for "local" news, even though London and Kitchener are closer to me. Outside of 5:30 and the news, that channel is just a load of useless fluff now.

A little late to the conversation, but this was horrible news. CHCH will fall without Dan and Connie - I think mostly because of the back-room business that pushed them out the door.
I haven't watched CHCH News at 6:00 since Dan left.
I feel CHCH doesn't respect their viewers. Since they decided to replace Dan, a 37-year veteran with Michelle Dube, a reporter, who has like 2 years of reporting experience, and Nick Dixon.
I don't feel to bad about Nick. He does have some previously experience and credibility (but still no where near Dan). It's the Michelle promotion that really bothers me.
Having only two years of reporting under her belt, she is in no way qualified to be the main anchor of a station's main newscast.
If they were really desperate, they could have put her on the weekend, and put Maria with Nick. But hey, that's just another opinion Canwest won't listen to.
BUT TO DAN AND CONNIE:
Good luck to you both in the future. You two were CHCH. You will be/are missed!!

We are just back from our usual trip South and figured Dan must be away on vacation when we didn't see him on the nightly news. Couldn't believe it when we went on line and found he has left CHCH. Another casualty of corporate greed? Get rid of the high priced help (who has spent many years getting to his present level)and replace
him with two junior, less expensive, less experienced
anchors? Both Michelle and Nick do a creditable job but have a long way to go fill Dan's shoes. Shame on Can West!

Deer caught in the "headlights" indeed. Let's face it, when you're talking about Lesley Stewart, it's hard not to be transfixed by her looks-her husband is one lucky guy.
In fact, if CHCH wants some serious ratings, how about an hour long fitness/fashion show featuring Lesley Stewart modelling various sportswear items while demonstrating exercise moves. Seriously, that would be a ratings grabber.
