I’m glad you mentioned the whole Y2K con job. Like I’ve wrote in the past it’s the same BS the Green people keep feeding us. “We must act now, save the planet, blah blah blah…”

Y2K wasn't a hoax it could have caused real problems but they were fixed before they could occur. It wouldn't have been nearly as bad as some made it out to be but it would have caused some issues.

There’s nothing I wrote that is wrong. Y2K, global warming, the world economic recession are all real issues but I believe they have been blown way out of proportion to serve the interests of a select few.
When everyday Joes like you get fooled by these hucksters, it only makes things worse (i.e. self fulfilling prophesies).
Back in the summer everything was booming – China and India were using oil like there was no tomorrow. A few months later, people like Obama and our own Pm Harper say we’re headed to another depression (they both referenced the Great depression of the ‘30s).
Anyway, 6 months from now you and the other sheep will be crying about another world crisis. I can’t wait to hear what it will be!

Y2K was a very real issue that was resolved thanks to a lot of hard work by dedicated IT workers. It is not something that was to be believed, or not believed. It was an actual technology issue that needed to be analyzed, fixed and tested to prevent a lot of very serious side effects. I worked in a large Canadian financial institution over that time, so I saw first hand what it took to fix the issue. It was certainly not something that could have been ignored without having a serious negative impact on the account holders of the institution. If you are familiar with the scale of technology in an enterprise level organization such as a financial institution, you will understand that this took years to resolve, not days, weeks or months. Please don't disrespect the incredible efforts of all these hard working individuals by shrugging it off as insignificant and "bullroar".

Hehehe! I remember the whole Y2K scare. A friend of mind had a bit of a survivalist mindset and was CONVINCED the world was going into meltdown once the clock hit 01/01/2000.
Of course it was never going to going to happen, but a heck of a lot of people made some tidy profit off their fear-mongering.
Sorry Craig Barbisan, but all the companies I worked for made no changes to their software systems for Y2K. Why didn't they? Well you don't fix what isn't broke. Simple as that.

No need to apologize Cashcleaner! I think you're making a pretty common mistake. You're assuming Y2K didn't exist just because it didn't affect you, which is a weak assumption. It's true that many companies may not have had any Y2K issues to resolve at all, it was entirely dependent on the software that they used. Typically it was enterprise level organizations such as financial institutions, government, healthcare, utilities, etc. that would have had to focus most closely on the Y2K bug. These were the types of organizations that would have relied the most on legacy mainframe applications which contained the bug. Remember, the Y2K bug was not an accident or a virus. Leaving out 2 digits from the 4 digit year was a conscious design decision that was made to save memory and disk space which was very, very expensive when these systems were built. Enterprises such as banks or governments deal with enormous volumes of data, so leaving out even 2 digits from each record they processed translated to real cost savings. None of the developers of those systems ever expected those systems to still be around by the year 2000, but many of them were, hence the problem.
