BushHarper.com

The Canadian election is next Tuesday, and if there's anyone out there sitting on the fence and wondering if they should vote for the evil, child eating Steven Harper, then you should take a few minutes to check this out.

The Desperate (Liberal) Party of Canada has stooped to a new low and come up with a website called BushHarper.com and not surprisingly, I became aware of it by clicking on to the Toronto Star website and seeing the advertisement down the right hand column.

Yes, I'm quite aware that politics can get nasty and that all parties can get stupid when it comes to attack ads, but the Liberals have really gone overboard with their attempt to link Steven Harper to George Bush.

I may be a lot of things, but I'm not a stupid guy. At least I don't think I am. I admit I've aligned myself with the Conservatives and I'd like to see Harper get a majority, but I'm not so blind to this that I can't see reality.

Steven Harper is not George Bush and he doesn't come close to deserving the connection that's become so fashionable for the legion of nit-wits who are so anti-Conservative they're willing to buy into lies, deceit and political fantasy.

To see clearly, you can easily see that Steven Harper isn't connected to George Bush anywhere other than those areas where he has no choice. You can't change the fact that Canada is closely connected to the United States both geographically and economically and sometimes, despite your politic stripe, you just have to play the game.

Hey folks, I'm like a lot of you. I think George W. Bush is complete goof ball and an embarrassment to the free world, but I'm also able to separate the facts and see the situation for what it is. Steven Harper does not deserve the Bush connection.

And that's why I want anyone who's sitting on the fence to click on this site and play the video. Appreciate how pathetic it is and how desperate it is.

Do you really want the people responsible for this ad to run your country?

If you're still can't make up your mind then make sure you click on the little speaker icon at the top of the page. Where it says "Play introduction".

If at this point you still can't make up your mind, then there's no hope for you.

Hey Fred, your right, Harpo is not Bush. Now if you say they don't share the same ideology's, you are walking on thin ice. Same rhetoric on the state of the economy. Laissez Faire economics. Same neo-conservative views letting big business have a free reign, unchecked. Same rhetoric on foreign policies. Let's go to Iraq! Both support the radical religious right. That's not MY Canada! That's enough similarities to make my mind up.
Wait.....yes, I hear the bandwagon approaching. Poor misguided fools.

I watched the Canadian Candidate Forum on CSPAN here in the US.

Stephen Harper is definitely a BUSH CLONE....

Let's get this straight - these people are now intertwined in some weird, almost "Mafia Family" kind of way, based on the neo-conservative ideology that smacks of a bit of religion and a LOT of cronyism with a BUNCH of international money that is very tempting to such a simpleton as Harper.

If it walks like a duck and quack lies a duck...it IS a duck.

Harper has thrown his 'fealty' to the "Onward Christian Soldiers" and should be thrown out ASAP before Canada suffers our fate.

We call it the "Mayberry Mafia"...it is based in Texas and Florida.

It is international in scope.

It is based on the old John Birch Society.

It is a bunch of very rich crooks doing their best to 'corner the market'.

Harper is their newest "boy toy".

Ask Harper if he's ever been invited and if he's ever attended the Bohemian Grove in California.

That's their little 'hide away'.

Go on...ask him.

(PS - ANYONE who thinks Condi Rice is "hot" just hasn't got it together - she's a lesbian, for goodness sakes - really Harper - she 'fooled' you?????

Whoa. Where did this mommadona come from? coo coo for cocoa puffs. And who was talking about Condoleezza Rice? Harper said she was "hot"? Must have missed that one - although I must know more about Condi being a lipstick lesbo. Baby come on!

I saw that yesterday as well, Fred, and although I was disgusted, I was hardly surprised. The way the Star has been hammering at Harper the last few weeks, it's to be expected. The election is in a few days and they are desperate for Dion to win, even though they came out and supported Rae in the leadership campaign.

It's only natural - The Star plays to the mob sentiment. And this "Momadona" character is certainly one of the mob...

Whoa. Where did this mommadona come from?

No, dear - just trying to save you from yourselves...

Canada's Peter MacKay and Condoleezza Rice of the U.S. will be discussing the Security and Prosperity Partnership (SPP) with Mexico at a meeting in Ottawa next Friday. Critics say the plan is a set of backroom deals that bypass the democratic channels of all three countries.

___________________

On October 15, 2003, the merger talks culminated in MacKay and Alliance leader Stephen Harper signing an Agreement in Principle on the establishment of the Conservative Party of Canada, whereby the Progressive Conservatives and the Canadian Alliance would merge to form a new Conservative Party of Canada. While MacKay was roundly criticized in some Red Tory circles for permitting a union under his watch, MacKay's efforts to sell the merger to the PC membership were successful: 90.4% of the party's elected delegates supported the deal in a vote on December 6, 2003.

Attacks ads are unfortunately a big part of the political game now. Why? Because they work.

Harper has been running attacks ads since this past Spring and the Conservative Party long before the writ was dropped created several web sites to attack the other guys.

It's back to that old saying (politics especially included) - pay back is a bitch....and has doomed Harpy to yet another minority.

My nine year said "Why is Stephen Harper always saying bad things about Stephane Dion, Is it because he got no ideas?"
If made me snicker. Not because it was about Haper's lack of ideas more that she already has most politicians sized up.
Whether it's the Conservatives(Reform), Liberals or the NDP political campaigns are not about policy it's about crapping on the other parties.
Low move on the Liberals part for setting up the website but at this point all of the vipers will do anything to get elected. No worse than how the Conservatives have mocked Dion and had a puffin drop a load on Stephane.

None of the parties have any fresh ideas.

I'm just happy Harper unveiled his platform today !!! and didn't wait till after the election.

Fred, I can understand the attraction to Mr. Harper - he is the strongest candidate (which is not saying much), but my question is this: with the Liberals imploding and the NDP, Greens and Blok being fringe players - why can't the Conservatives attract strong people to their party? Why are the candidates not allowed to speak (please see Ms. Cadman in my riding her in BC)?

Why would any politician within earshot of the US want to connect themselves with the WORST president in the history of US?

Ed
October 7, 2008 / 18:02

Canadian politics is not about electing the best candidate/party, it's about electing the least worst if you know what I mean. When I see these attack ads it makes me cringe, can you see doing this in a business place. Politics lacks substance, anyone can say anything then if they are elected can make a 180 because the "situation" has changed. Politicians of any stripe, almost without exception, are a bunch of bag lickers.

Earlier post in this thread by Anonymous @ 13:23 was made by me, Horonto

As for the Conservative(Reform) candidates being muzzled the same is true in my riding. The Conservative candidate won't do interviews or appear in debates.

I'm wondering why P.M. Harper waited until one week before the election to roll out his platform.

Max
October 7, 2008 / 19:57

Yes! Where has that all-important platform been!?! You know, the party platform that all good Canadians clamour for so that we can studiously pore over every detail and compare it against the rival parties before voting. Where is it, Harper? How do you expect us to make our minds up???

Platform. Whatever.

Rick C in Oalville
October 7, 2008 / 20:49

What about Dion's platform? Started with the Green Shaft platform then when his pundits realised it was hangmans noose on their necks, he dropped it like a hot potatoe, and came up with the I will consult for 30 days with experts after the election BS. Liberals always end up doing what they want laso anyways. All the parties are self serving, as mentioned earlier it's just the least worse party we elect.

Well we now have Layton giving the nod to a possible 3rd official language status to Punjabi. http://overseasindian.in/2008/september/news/20082909-093641.shtml

What won't these guys promise to get elected.

Mike from Lowville
October 8, 2008 / 07:51

Horonto - the reason? The Harper plan contains 44 pages. In it there are 100 references to Stephen Harper, and 22 photographs of him. For the rest of us, virtually nothing at all!

Wow Mike, a little too much time on your hands? How many pictures of Harper are from his good side? :)

Question to all the Dion supporters. How can you support his plan to have a discussion within 30 days after the election to figure out what to do with the economy? Now that's taking the problem by the b*lls eh? Gotta love the whole complete lack of leadership. Instead he prefers to ask "What should I do?", and not to mention doing that almost 2 months after the sh!t has hit the fan.

Mike, you really haven't been paying attention. The Conservatives have been releasing details daily about their platform since the election began. My previous post was sarcastic, but the point is, all of the parties put together these "official" documents that end up not being worth the paper they're printed on. You know as well as I that half the shit any party puts in their platform falls off the table (remember the Red Book???).
Now that the Conservatives have released their official platform, was there anything in there that surprised you? I'll bet not - because we already know what their intentions are, or at least should know if you watch the news and read the papers.
This platform issue is another phony issue the media loves to latch on to and spoonfeed to the mindless electorate.
I saw a clip on CityTV where they were stopping passersby to ask them who they intended to vote for. Here's the highlight:
Reporter: Who do you intend to vote for.
Voter: I think I'm going with the NDP this time.
Reporter: And why is that?
Voter: Well - because - uh, er, Jack Layton, um, er, will address issues.
Reporter: Issues like?
Voter: Um, er...I want to stop Harper from getting in.
Reporter: And why is that?
Voter: Because um, er...he's bad.
The sad thing is I don't think this is an isolated example.

PartyPooper
October 8, 2008 / 14:26

I've always voted Liberal but I'm sorry, do you really want Dion representing Canada? Seriously, the guy still has a look of disbelief on his face that he is the Liberal leader.

And let's put an end to this: Harper is not Bush. If he was anything like Bush we'd be in just as bad shape as the States are right now.

Anonymous
October 9, 2008 / 08:16

PartyPooper you're kidding right? Just because Dion has a hard time expressing himself in English, does not mean he is incompetent. The people in Quebec know that, hence the shift in the polls. I guess you would say by looking at Steven Hawking he looks like someone with nothing to contribute. Don't look now but the bad shape the U.S. is in will be coming to a Province and city near you.
