Why is it that people like yourself (and many people on the left as well) cannot see the truth for what it is. She is a lousy choice. Someone like Huckabee or Romney would have been a better choice by far. I would be far more comfortable with Huckabee as VP (and possibly President) than Palin.
Everytime someone asks a question that Palin is not fed an answer to she screws it up. Then the McCain campaign has to fix the error. A few comments:
1) Your writing is clear enough but the former newspaper editor in me would love to see a spelling and grammar check now and then (pet peeve);
2) I agree the Canada's Conservatives would fall neatly into the Democratic Party;
3) The Mallick piece was over the line and as vicious as anything coming out of Fox News (eg: the headline on the crawl, "Obama/Biden, Osama bin Laden. Coincidence?");
4) Even the CBC is now acknowledging that they have drifted too far left.
Palin may well be vacant and thoroughly unprepared for the role of vice president or, ultimately, president, but that is more the fault of McCain, a man who touts his experience and judgment while deriding Obama's lack of experience.

No LEW, I don't think he's a "war hero" because he got caught. I think he's a WAR HERO because his body was broken and battered when he was shot down.Then it was further broken and battered by the North Vietnamese and still he did not break. He did not allow himself to be used for propaganda purposes no matter what they offered or what they did to him. He is a grandson and son of privelege and yet he did not betray himself, his fellow soldiers or his country. Personally, I would have spilled my guts as soon as the bamboo touched my fingernail. So while I might argue the merits of his politics, I wouldn't snidely put quotes around the words war hero(considering his war record) and then think it's substantive political discussion. It's an insult worse than calling Obama a secret muslim(which he is not). And I also don't consider Randi Rhodes or Air America as credible sources of information about his time in a POW camp, should you chose to go down that road.

It is why I used to think McCain would be great. He faced these outlandish claims and fought back with class. He lost. So now he has become a different campaigner. His integrity is gone with the out and out lies about Obama in his TV spots. War Hero or not, he has become something he vowed never to be. That is why I don't like him anymore. Also his pick of Palin without really knowing her was another final nail to his coffin for me.
