Dion will step down. Nothing bad can come of it.
I ask one question; if Dion's strategy was so wrong, why did Harper reveal an Economic plan that is almost a mirror image of what Dion proposed? Again, Fred fails to mention it.
I just wish that Fred could look at all the parties without bias. He hates the Star for it but does it himself.

Perhaps he's going to resign in order to succeed himself.
Stockwell Day did the same thing, didn't he?
October 16, 2008 / 08:28
Harpers economic plan mirrors Dion's because its so obvious.
No secret formulas or special remedies. Just straight forward economics that any leader would have to follow.
To his credit, Dion just said it first.
It's a plan already being followed by many leaders around the world.

Brampton Boy, 14, murdered on way home from school
Yeah like this is nice place to live!

Charisma: Harper doesn't have it. Dion didn't.
If SD resigns he'll still do well. I think he's a man of honour and principle. And we need them in the gov't service.

Dion is gone because it is the quick knee-jerk reaction. There is more wrong with the Liberal party that just their Leader. The fact that they elected Dion and then almost immediately started infighting is proof of that.
I admit that a strong no nonsense leader for the Liberals would at least put them back in the game, just as much as if Harper would stop the nonsense would put him solidly into majority territory. It seems that Harper instead of just doing what is right, seems to be making decisions based on looking in the rearview mirror and reacting to what the Liberals are doing and saying.
God help the Liberals if they elect that weasel Rae.

I still say Kennedy set it all up!!!!
October 16, 2008 / 09:44
Dion came off more as the some academic.
Good guy just in the wrong job.
I would now like to address an earlier post in this thread by Phil
Phil I'm not a Brampton resident and this latest wave of violence that has hit parts of Brampton and the Malton area of Mississauga disturbing.
Doesn't matter where you live violence can find you.
When the gang bangers take each other out none of us shed a tear.
When a 14 year old is stabbed on his way home from school that's tragic. Actually it does look like e Victim was a good kid. Unlike so many "good kids" whose mug shot is later released.
There was also a double stabbing early last week in Mississauga the accused knifed a couple of kids out side a convenience store at lunch time where students form different high schools converge at lunch.
Read up in the nice young man who tried to kill a couple of students from a different High School. The suspect turned himself in.

There are parts of Brampton I would be happy to call home and parts I avoid. Just like any large urban area.
Most of Peel is a great place to live but some neighborhoods have turned into the hood with people certain of whom have no respect for themselves let alone anyone else.

My point on Harper's Economic plan was that he attacked Dion for it and now has released a similar one. It makes me question his credibility more. I'm tired of hearing politicians attack one another when their ideas actually may be good. Harper has some great ideas and may run the country well. I don't like him but it doesn't mean everything he does is bad. Heck, even Bush has done some good things. Not that Harper is a Bush clone, because he is not.

Hey Horonymous - you are right and the same can be said about Toronto.
Actually Fred asked me to post something stupid, without thought or research to try and generate some reactionary traffic to his blog.
You see. Fred is a wannabe Bill Carroll.

The Libs paid a huge price for choosing Dion. They ignored the qualifications of Rae, Iggy and Kennedy and simply chose ‘the French guy’. They figured the leader MUST come from la belle province. They’re partially right – he must be from that province but they must also select a qualified person. Dion is geek personified, a wimp who has no leadership or communication skills.
Just watch – Justin Trudeau will be the next leader of this lame party. He’s from Quebec but his qualifications? Who knows…..
October 16, 2008 / 10:20
I see there is another Phil showing up on this blog recently. Just to be sure who is who I am now "Speyside Phil".Just the thought of another Trudeau on the political scene scares the hell out of me.
October 16, 2008 / 10:23
Fred want a wife who is a Habs fan and replace Ted Woloshyn ahter he was pushed out, eer I mean left CFRB?
October 16, 2008 / 10:41
Yes Fred, give the guy credit. With the character assignation from the get go by the Harpo spin doctors for over a year. The consent bad picture shots and short sound bites by the right wing media. (You included Fred) Even Liberal supporters talking behind his back. Name me anyone.....anyone who could put up with that and still keep the composure the Dion kept. Talk about working under pressure. Maybe he will not be Prime Minister, his destiny is much bigger than that. Canadians don't deserve him.
October 16, 2008 / 10:44
With the character "assassination" from the get go....
my bad
October 16, 2008 / 11:03
Latest word is that he's not quitting. So who knows what is going on. Maybe he's not going to throw himself on his sword, but wait for the lynch mob.
October 16, 2008 / 11:30
I saw the Police rushing to the scene of the murder near sandalwood the other day.... I hope Harper passes the law to lower the age of young offenders committing violent crimes...enough of this senseless violence!!
October 16, 2008 / 11:48
Someone was killed in my old Scarborough hood near Markham and Eglinton.
Like the old Elliot Ness days. Gangsters without brains. Punks, chickenshit hoods.
Seems their aim is getting better which hopefully means less innocent victims from their terrible aim.
October 16, 2008 / 11:55
The bird crap ad on Dion was disgusting. The PM clears each and everything but they can fall back on the old denial clause.
This is our country's leader.
October 16, 2008 / 12:02
Justin Trudeau will be Canada's version of Barrack Obama. Young, passionate and full of charisma- but low on experience.
As Fred has said himself about Barrack, it might be nice to see someone with less experience.
October 16, 2008 / 15:51
I hope Dion stays on as leader, makes it that much easier to elect a conservative government.
October 16, 2008 / 18:04
Dear Disgruntled : Can my dog run for leadership of the Liberal Party. He is more qualified than Justin Trudeau, young, passionate full of charisma AND he can catch a frisbee.
October 17, 2008 / 12:46
He's going to quit. Manley's made whispers of running (as per the Globe).
If Manley or McKenna step into the ring, the gloves are off. Both are "right wing" Liberals that have appeal to those that sit on the fence.

Whoa!, this was a top quality piece of writing. The theory is that I'd like to post in this way too - spending time and serious effort to produce a tremendous piece of writing... sadly what can I say... I put things off an awful lot and do not seem to get something concluded

I don’t believe it’s a First Amendment issue either. However, I do believe it’s a Fifth Amendment issue and a Tenth Amendment issue and at most, this should be a state matter

Good post, thanks

Who ever imagined the reckoned constructing a mosque at ground zero had to be the best idea? I am not much of a great fan of both Glen Beck or Sarah Palin but yet compared to Obama and the supremely stupid administration, those two are prodigies, come on The united states, there is certainly a bit of strange stuff happening. Barbara.
