I still think you have a stick up your bum. It is funny and in fact, not often to I chuckle at an OpEd on the third reading let alone the first - damn good writing.
Fred, no matter how serious you think this is...thank you for directing me to the article, and now when you link to the Post apology, the photo just shows her torso and pretty gams - this just gets funnier and funnier.
You’re the tops baby!

You got too much hate towards the CBC.
Like most folks in radio/television you would work at the CBC in a heart beat.
Agreed to much of CBC radio is focus on obscure art festivals in Saskatoon. I'd love to see you back at the CBC to shake things up a bit.
Heather Mallick's article was an op ed piece and in my opinion not very funny or original.
But I'm not going to tar the whole CBC with a Mallick brush. The Corp does so me great work and has some hacks just like the private broadcasters do.
September 29, 2008 / 21:16
Art Festivals in Saskatoon? Last time I checked, Saskatoon was part of Canada, therefore it seems logical for CBC to be there. Given the stellar economy in Saskatoon compared to Toronto..perhaps it's just more eastern envy?
NOTE TO FREDDIE: Careful what you wish for Fred. You smear the CBC because of comments made by one of it's staff members. You are now a PD and this very same scenario could happen to you. When one of your staff does something bad on the air, should we expect your resignation ?
Private broadcasting is full of hacks dude. A guy I know back in KW who was in radio for years used to tell me that "you don't need to be a rocket scienctist to work in radio".

You're wrong Fred. So many articles have been written by Americans totally making fun of Canada and Canadians. Why is that OK???
This article was funny and un-Canadian....finally, someone has some balls to give it back to the US.
September 29, 2008 / 21:46
Jeff - your point seems to be we should emulate Americans - be "un-Canadian". Strange way to "give it back to them".
Something else I find interesting -the CBC itself agrees this article was in bad taste, yet Fred is somehow wrong.

Lew? Irvine and Jeff...if that's your real name go now and vote for the left wing pinky bastards and leave the real thinking (cleaning up ) to the Blues! What that B#@$%^ said should be constituted as slander , and she should be dealt with accordingly!. don't get me wrong, I think she is a bad choice for vice president, but that was too personal!...Fred,all the best with your new endeavours!...YA BASTARD!
September 30, 2008 / 06:38
Freddie, it maybe crude but its true. I didn't mind one comment made about Palin in that article, the only people that article offends are her supporters, .....enough said
September 30, 2008 / 08:19
Good one Buffalo Boy Mike! Oh so true.
September 30, 2008 / 10:27
I understand the bias with which the CBC operates and I factor that into my understanding of current events as I'm sure most people do. Objective journalism no longer exists, which is unfortunate, but on the plus side it does force people to view any media with a weary eye when it comes to the truth. Anyone who uses only one media resource to form an opinion, is a moron and the merit of their opinions should be questioned, if not dismissed entirely.
September 30, 2008 / 10:39
If you would like to view something even funnier than the article- check out this interview. Palin should apoligize for excepting the position.

Dear Lord, what a video that was. It worries me because it was right up there with some of the Bush stuff and he was elected twice. I got into an argument with somebody because I called her dopey. The guy was ready to defend her to the death, but I wonder how he'd defend that. He's been strangely silent on her for a good while now...funny that.
And again about the article that started this, it was an opinion piece. Opinion. It wasn't like what she wrote was reported as news. Lighten up.

As much as we make fun of Palin – the question is: why her? I feel that there is a grander plot then trying to get the Hillary/Redneck votes.
Over the last 8 years, the Angler has taken the Vice President’s role to an entire new level. Please read a Pulitzer Prize article from the Washington Post called “the Angler” My fear is: if the Republicans get in again, the watered down accountability along with the presidential powers that have eroded and transferred office already; how far past the VP office will it go with her? I have to believe that this is calculated.

The strategist said a junior staffer, who asked not to be identified, was doing a Google search on Mr. Harper, George W. Bush and the war in Iraq and came across a link to Mr. Howard's speech.

Thye just can't admit that they were actually looking for any dirt they could find.
Have to pretend it fell from someone's briefcase at Yonge and Dundas.
