And To These People Too

September 3, 2008 @ 09:30

I'm not going to pretend that what I've been through deserves any sympathy because it doesn't, but when you love doing something and you can't do it, regardless of the safety net, it can be stressful and trying.

And that's why I'd like to give a shout out to these people for their support over the past three years.

To my best buddy Darren Wasylyk and his wonderful wife Lori Love who kept telling me it would all fall into place.

To my good friend Dan Duran who insisted that I start a website. I should have taken his advice about six months earlier than I did.

To Peter Cugno aka Scary Bald Headed Pete who was quick to call me immediately after my firing with an offer to help him with a couple of projects that took my mind off my situation.

To Jamie Watson, who was the first guy to call me after my firing and say "let's go out for a beer."

To Erin Davis, who showed a lot of class by quickly offering support after my firing. She had just been through it and she knew how I felt.

To Jeff Marek who made room for me on Leafs Lunch, just to keep my name out there.

To Mark Hebscher, Donna Skelly and Lawrence Diskin, who put me on TV.

To Danny Kingsbury, who helped me keep perspective on a few things.

To Q-107 Program Director Blair Bartrem who has this unique quality in a person now-a-days. He always returns phone calls. I swear, as a Program Director, I will return every phone call I receive. During my "sabbatical" it was probably the most disappointing and disturbing aspect, but Blair always picked up the phone.

To John Derringer who offered encouragement and support through my website, and then offered to have me on his show which absolutely cranked my traffic through the roof.

To Mike Stafford who mentioned my name and website on his show countless times. Just to help out.

To Jeff McArthur, Craig Venn, Neil Morrison, Bruce Barker and Curtis Bray, who've made me part of their radio shows.

To Jason Barr, Bob Willette, Jeff Domet, Sandra Plugakis, Maie Pauts, Dean Blundell, Gene Valaitis and Kevin O'Leary, who kept in touch.

To Hal Blackadar and Chris Pandoff for their assistance and to John Cassaday for the hand written letter he sent, welcoming me back into the company.

To Humble Howard for some great memories.

And to my friends and family who were proud that I was "Fred" from the radio, and anticipated from day one that the phone would ring off the hook with job offers. It was touching.

Thanks, ya buggers.

Good Karma freddiep
If you're a good person you get treated like a good person by other good people.

I would like to thank Derringer also... because of your appearance on his show, I found out about this blog and was reminded of how much I missed H&F... not that I forgot about you, but you know what they say.. out of sight out of mind. This site allowed me to once again get my daily dose of freddiep... best of luck, ya bugger!

Nice news, Freddie.

Remember an old pal when he needs a shift some day, eh?

And remember that number one Corus value: no taking a penny without leaving a penny!

Really!, it was a top excellent piece. The theory is that I would like to create in this way also - spending time and substantial effort to generate a good quality story... yet somehow what can I say... I delay doing things a lot and not seem to get something succesfully done

I need to tell you, that out of all time I've spent using the net, studying weblogs, I never read one as succinct and well written as this one, I do not routinely comment on web logs although for yourself I felt the need to make an exception, this is certainly surely quality work and utterly opposite to the drivel, i spend most of my time on the internet, reading. Thanks a lot regarding finding the time and investing your energy to supply your readers with a first class editorial. I will enjoy reading more of your work, once more thank you. Angela

Who the hell contemplated erecting a mosque at ground zero had to be advised? I'm no great fan of either Glen Beck or Sarah Palin although when compared to Obama and the ridiculous governing administration, both of these are prodigies, get real The states, there is a certain amount of odd stuff going on. Why is Creating a Mosque at Ground Zero currently being allowed to occur? I've never heard something so simply preposterous in all my life. If this by chance arrives at reality, It would be the worst thing possible. adela

First, Pettie is a "rat" who will take down anyone in the name of religion. Hopefully, Clemens will have a trial before his peers which means the jury will be composed of major league ball players including those who took drugs and those who did not. This will result in a hung jury. MLB and many players should be concern about Clemens taking his case to trial as MLB and some players are going to be "burned" badly. Hopefully this is the last year I have to listen to Pettie and his Texas "tange".....:-)

First of all - I hope it does cause MLB some major angst. Their role in all of this is significant. Selig should be forced to step down. Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE knew what was going on. And rather than confront it Selig and his merry band of synchophants decided to ignore it. Ignore it as Bonds heads swelled to gargantuan proportions. Clemons is a major league tool and frankly deserves what he's about to get......:-)

Why is Creating a Mosque at Ground Zero really sanctioned to occur? I've never heard something so downright brainless in all of my entire life. If this actually arrives at fact, It could be the hardest situation of all time. adrienne
