We had this talk in the office for the last week, why did we even send athletes that did not have a chance to come close, let alone win.

One Canadian athlete came last in a qualifying event and yet set a personal best, what was this person doing there.

In the 10000 metre race the lead group lapped the Canadian runner; in 25 laps around the track, why did we send an athlete who was going to be lapped by the lead group?

There are many other examples and the athletes always have the same after event interview, "I did the best that I could and beat my personal best".

Look at Australia, 10 million people less than Canada and they have over 30 medals.
