Oh, whatever. He doesn't need to be there. I don't like the guy but if you're implying that Jane Pitfield would have been better, then stop smkoing the cheap stuff.
Fred, we had no real choice. There was no one good to elect. Kinda like down South right now.
August 15, 2008 / 10:39
A Lawyer not having a sense of Duty, Honour, City? Say it ain't so?!
Absolute scumbag, as is Jason for saying, "Oh, Whatever."
If your house is burning and your loved ones are trapped inside, the firefighters won't say, "Oh, whatever" to your pleas for help.
Why? They are professionals, something which the Mayor is not.
August 15, 2008 / 10:52
Fred, don't hash over the past. It's over. We all look forward to the day when Miller's gone and we've got a competent man or woman in his place.
August 15, 2008 / 10:52
Disgraceful!
August 15, 2008 / 11:02

August 15, 2008 / 11:02
...sorry, I had to leave for a second, what did I miss...
August 15, 2008 / 11:13
Jason, I think you are the one that's maybe had a little to much smoke.Anyone would have been better than this character. If you have ever been in business there are times when you need to be at the shop regardless of Vacations. This is one of those times that the CEO needs to be there.
August 15, 2008 / 11:19
Sad Sad Sad.
I know that family is important, and we all need breaks...
...But the firefighter's family won't ever have another vacation with the deceased.
God forbid that we have another crisis, when the Mayor and his Deputy are almost 6000 miles apart on vaction at the same time.
They are tempting fate with their poor planning. Will they learn? In the real world, people cover each other then sheduling holidays, Non?
August 15, 2008 / 12:03
Being at the funeral is the right thing to do. Plain and simple.
He's a scumbag for not being there.
And once again for the record, he'll get re-elected. Sorry Trish.
August 15, 2008 / 12:11
I'll tell you what is totally screwed up...
The Toronto Fire Fighter Assocation suported this "NDP lawyer nut job" for both elections.
Where the Toronto Police did not for the first election and paid the price, until this "NDP layer nut job" got a lap dog that would follow his leash.
August 15, 2008 / 13:18
Just so I have this straight: Miller will go to a funeral of a young future gangsta who incredibly was killed while hanging out with his homies at the corner of Jane & Finch but a will be in BC for a well respected firefighter hero. OK that makes sense…...
I guess Adam Gianbronne must be happy. He can attend in Miller’s place and hang around with all of those hunky firefighters. Some please remind him he’s at a funeral.
August 15, 2008 / 13:21
Perhaps when Miller dies, choking on his own words/vomit he spews, no one will attend his funeral. One can only hope.
Tear down the Gardiner! Bicycles for all and toll roads for the commuters that keep this city moving. Damn the 905ers, damn them all!
August 15, 2008 / 13:27
I just don't know what to say anymore. I met our mayor in person about 3 months ago and I knew more of what was going on in the city than he did. An absolute disgrace and embarrasment!!!
August 15, 2008 / 13:30
It surprise noone that Miller will come home and play the family card. He's done it before when asked why he didn't attend certain community meetings and I don't expect anything different this time.
Unfortunately being a Mayor of a city of 3 million people is a 7 day a week job. If you have young children and your time with them is valuable as it should be, then maybe you should be in another line of work.
August 15, 2008 / 13:37
Most jobs do not call for a person who is on vacation to come home in the middle of it. Then again, most jobs don’t carry the responsibility of being the mayor of a large city. When David Miller decided to run for mayor he should have accepted the fact that there may be times that he is called upon when it might be a little inconvenient for him.
That being said there are people who aren’t as “high ranking” as the mayor who do interrupt their vacations due to a work commitment. My wife is one of them. She is self-employed, so every job and every client counts. This summer we came home early from a vacation because she had a job to do. She could have called someone to sub for her, but that’s not the way she works. She promised the client she’d be doing the job even if it did mean cutting the vacation short.. She has integrity. We can only wish the mayor had as much.
August 15, 2008 / 13:38
Anyone who believes this city wouldn't have been better off with John Tory as Mayor is deluded. The worst part is that Miller will mobilize his collectivist electoral base, win the next election and continue to govern the city as if it ended at Bloor Street.
August 15, 2008 / 13:42
Miller should be there. It's the right and honourable thing for a man of his position to do.
August 15, 2008 / 15:43
Allan G. Exactly Right!!!!
It's called Integrity and Decency. Neither of which this idiot mayor has.
August 15, 2008 / 15:43
Before you start your tired tirades against this guy Patterson, did you inquire to find out if the mayors OFFICE was sending anyone? If the mayor can't make it, then his office should send someone. That's protocol.
I don't like any politician but they are people and it's a lousy, thankless job. He does have the right to have some time with his family & to relax. He's got an "office" to handle all the details
And does this mean the mayor should show up at every City of Toronto worker that dies while working?
You're so critical of the mayor Patterson, why don't you run for politics and then experience what it's like being in his shoes. Cause I can tell you something dude, he puts in A LOT more hours than you do/did & probably makes LESS money than some Tdot morning show guys.
** For the record, I have no use and dislike Miller, so you can hold back on the "I love the loony left BS"
August 15, 2008 / 17:39
I knew you guys would jump on me for saying oh whatever but you probably expect the guy to show up at every cop and firefighter's funeral, and that's just not possible. And blah blah about John Tory the last time I checked he didn't win, get over it.
August 15, 2008 / 19:51
The man was illusive during this whole event & this is the icing on the cake. He can care less Toronto. Bob Leek lost his life trying to save the public surrounding the explosive site. Firefighters from all regions will attend his funeral while your Mayor is sipping on a cold one.
Congrat's for voting him in office, he's truely a peoples Mayor!
August 15, 2008 / 20:29
Actually, I do think he should be present everytime a cop or firefighter dies in the line of duty, it's not like it happens every day.
August 15, 2008 / 21:08
With any luck maybe Miller is scouting out a socialists retreat on the left coast and the city of Toronto will get a chance to recover from the damage he has wrought.
As Ostler said, thankfully it's not everyday a Firefighter or Cop dies on duty, but when they do the decision is a simple one, the highest ranking Toronto offical (Miller for those who were thinking Shirley Hoy) must be there, no if, ands, or buts.
Sure this isn't on the scale that Giuliani encountered on 9/11 but it is the largest disaster for Toronto since the blackout, and it requires leadership, not from the paid snivel servants at the City of Toronto, and the time for pointing fingers as he did is when the dust settles and the area is liveable again.
August 15, 2008 / 23:53
Too bad Guiliani can't run for mayor of Toronto.
Rudi's actions as mayor of NYC right after those wrapped-in-a-bedsheet, mideast rug-riding muhaMADian infected-rectal-orifices slammed a couple of aircraft into the WTC on 9-11... was the 4-1-1 on how a REAL MAYOR of a bruised city should act.
And recall that mayor Hurricane Hazel was front and center right after that 1979 train incident in Mississauga.
An explosion in your city, Miller... means you should be there!
And if you voted for Miller; you can't take a crap right now at city hall... because your asshole isn't there!!!
And wah-wah-wah to those who defend Miller. "Councillor" Maria Augimeri also flew back from Italy... (taking her own damn time)... and then told a constituant in her explosion-damaged ward to "Shut up!"
Little miss maria is one of Millers socialist cows... like being like, for sure.
And the issue is MILLER
LEAVING the city while there's still a bruised and damaged heart. A heart hopefully soothed somewhat by the service for a fallen firefighter at the Prayer Palace earlier today.
The 'mayor' could have provided leadership by BEING at the funeral for that fireman who gave his life trying to help out. Instead of prancing away from the city, again.
That fireman was on vacation (like the mayor).
But that fireman did HIS DUTY, even while he was on vacation.
That fireman doesn't have the choice to continue his vacation as Miller did... since that fireman gave his life. He gave his life doing a helluva a lot more than Mr. Marxist.
So who's the true hero, bucko? Not the socialist seal at silly hall, for sure.
And no; I would not begruge the cost of a special charter flight for a mayor returning to a hurting city... to pay tribute to a member of Toronto's fire fighting heros.
So, Millerites... how about you think; before your mouth shoots off faster than an inner-city thug with a credit card in a whorehouse.
August 16, 2008 / 01:47
Why is this man in office? He is a DISGRACE to this city. Why was this man voted in again? Do the voters not have a brain??? I really would like to know.
August 16, 2008 / 09:43
Right Upperhermiddle, "Too bad Guiliani can't run for mayor of Toronto." Your as delusional as Fred, 9/11, get a helmet!!
August 16, 2008 / 17:10
I wonder if your mayor reads these posts? If not someone should send him a link and maybe he will see how the people of The Peoples Republic Of Toronto feel about him and situations similar to this one....
August 16, 2008 / 17:16
Chris -
These people who voted Miller back in for the second time are the same people who voted for liberal McSquinty in for a second time....they are called STUPID PEOPLE! People who some have no education and no brain to learn the difference from whats right and whats wrong!!
August 19, 2008 / 00:21
Rick C
Before you go slamming the "left coast", take a clear look at the economic outlook for the "left coast" versus Ontario.
Guess it's not so "bad" after all eh.

Those girls will probably fall madly in love with boot sandals! They're the sort of trendy boots these girls love, but with diverse straps and holes across the shoe. A lot of them could virtually be cut out of a standard boot!

Once upon a time, good footwear was a hard thing to find. Style, quality and comfort could not be found at the same time. If you could find shoes that looked good and were comfortable to your feet, you would disappointingly realize that they did not last long. Then came the era of designers, they brought into the market nice shoes and durable ones.

However beautiful a woman may be, with the perfectly sculpted body and legs that deserve the best shoes in the world, to be the proud owner of a Louboutin pair, she must be a millionaire.

"Peep Toe" boots are one of the hottest trends in boots these past months. This type of boot expresses sexiness and yet manages to be very stylish, perfect for the spring and summer months, when the coats come off.
August 22, 2010 / 06:47
Most of the ladies would purchase these from the local market, compromising on the quality- because these are inexpensive or the once they are looking at is the only option. This would hurt them literally when they would be wearing these for relatively longer hours.
August 24, 2010 / 01:06
Since 1970's when he first set up his business in London, the man has single handedly sketched his shoes and sculpted the heels for every single pair of the famous Manolo Blahnik shoes, strappy sandals, etc.
August 24, 2010 / 22:51
One thing you should always remember is that no matter what they are authentic or imitated, after buying your boots, you should take care of them properly to ensure a long-term wear.

I'll gear this review to 2 types of people: current Zune owners who are considering an upgrade, and people trying to decide between a Zune and an iPod. (There are other players worth considering out there, like the Sony Walkman X, but I hope this gives you enough info to make an informed decision of the Zune vs players other than the iPod line as well.)

When it comes to fashion and style, people tend to make their budgets as a share of something that set not as important as Replica Handbags Online adapt. Wondering how the customers to survive in a position to fashion and not to sacrifice to satisfy their basic needs? The reason is because these people are smart buyers. You want to be careful what you buy and where these products must be purchased. The latter is still very important, is that where you identify your product supplier. Meteorologists know that the buyers of high-quality bags and original design are readily available on the Internet at reasonable prices! It also gives us an idea of designer handbags for sale can be a viable business investment to be worthwhile.

Between me and my husband we've owned more MP3 players over the years than I can count, including Sansas, iRivers, iPods (classic & touch), the Ibiza Rhapsody, etc. But, the last few years I've settled down to one line of players. Why? Because I was happy to discover how well-designed and fun to use the underappreciated (and widely mocked) Zunes are.

You know what’s nice about being married to an unpleasant and vaguely sinister man like Russell? Money. One of my favorite activities as a family is to have my stylist come over with a bunch of expensive clothes and then, just as Russell is leaving the room, call out, “Leave the wallet!” It cracks him up. Or it doesn’t, whatever, who cares. I’m just getting my preemptive revenge before he dumps me for a 25-year-old like Kelsey is about to do to Camille. Hey, so, what do you think of my lips? Trout transplant. And not just any trout, either — sad trout. Costs more.

If you're still on the fence: grab your favorite earphones, head down to a Best Buy and ask to plug them into a Zune then an iPod and see which one sounds better to you, and which interface makes you smile more. Then you'll know which is right for you.
November 16, 2010 / 20:05
Hands down, Apple's app store wins by a mile. It's a huge selection of all sorts of apps vs a rather sad selection of a handful for Zune. Microsoft has plans, especially in the realm of games, but I'm not sure I'd want to bet on the future if this aspect is important to you. The iPod is a much better choice in that case.
