A great movie!!!!
July 22, 2008 / 12:54
A solid film. You don't get too many well made movies in the summer time so it's great to finally see one that is both critically and commercially successful. Ledger's performance as the Joker is Academy Award worthy. He, like Jack Nicholson, brought something new to the character. The nurse scene is a highlight.
I thought the scenes between Bale/Caine and Bale/Freeman were exceptional. We needed more of those. However, Bale on his own seemed rather flat. But then again, Batman isn't one of the most "interesting" comic book heroes out there. I also didn’t buy into the fact that Wayne supported Dent. Bale’s performance in those scenes didn’t work.
The action was solid but I found that the Batcycle chase under the city reminded too much of the Tumbler Chase in the first film. Nothing really new... except for the fantastic 18 wheeler crash which was 100%. No CGI there, folks. A great stunt!
Maggie Gyllenhaal was Ok as Rachel. She's a better actor than Katie Holmes but Holmes is great to look at. Gyllenhaal is fugly!
Aaron Eckhart as Harney Dent was a nice surprise. However, the transformation from good to evil was a bit too quick. But he played the good and bad guy roles perfectly. Thank God he got it right so we can finally erase Tommy Lee Jones' terrible portrayal of the same character in Batman Forever from our minds.
I didn't like all the gadgets. It took away the danger and suspense aspect which made the final action sequence in the condo with the SWAT team and hostages rather dull. It was well done, but dull. I didn’t really care because Batman had all the technology in the world to save the day.
And the finger print from bullet fragments was a stretch. That sort of shit belongs in garbage TV like CSI. Once I saw that I was sure I was going to see a "zoom in and enhance" scene as well. Fortunately, we didn't.
I’m a film music nut so I have to comment on the music. I didn’t like the score in the first film because I have Danny Elfman’s brilliant effort ingrained into my mind from the 1989 version. But once I came to accept that this more serious, darker, less orchestral approach was going to be used then I went into this film with an open mind to see if composers Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard could improve on the sound they created in the first film. While the new score on CD works mush better than the first it plays completely different in the movie. It still feels uninspired and at time far too loud and intrusive…. especially during Gordon’s final monologue. I couldn’t hear what he was saying.
Another negative was the script. It was bloated with preachy and pretentious dialog. The stuff on the two fairy boats was pretty bad. The morality tale being told there was laughable. So a bloated script also makes the film too long. The film could have used a 30 minute snip. The middle of the film drags.
Overall, it’s a solid comic book adaptation. One of the best. It is up there with the likes of Superman: The Movie, Spider-Man 2, Road To Perdition and Sin City. I give it a 3.5 out of 4.
1 = Bad 2 = Good 3 = Excellent 4 = Masterpiece

And stop using that lame leftist straw man to try to justify it. No one has told the Muslims that they can’t build a mosque. Those of us who oppose are saying “don’t do it THERE.” There are zoning ordinances across the nation that dictate where various businesses and other organizations can build. This is no different. There has already been discussion in NY about allowing this bunch to put the mosque somewhere else. But now that Obama has (again) stuck his nose in where it doesn’t belong, things are escalating out of control.

and what is the cost exactly of these turbines? And the installation/conversion? And the maintenance? In the desert in Palm Springs where they have thousands of windmills installed there to capture the wind, the cost of each windmill is enormous, plus they are only manufactured overseas and need regular and constant maintenance. Plus what do you do when there is no wind and/or you live in a place that is not very windy ever?

if people keep using fossil fuels, the ozone will depleat. if we use wind power, then we will live. this indirectly relates to life science. (life=living=life science) just an idea. i have no clue. ask your teacher.

If you occasionally plan on using the web browser that's not an issue, but if you're planning to browse the web alot from your PMP then the iPod's larger screen and better browser may be important.

I just died a little inside. The only reason Katie Holmes is still relevant today is because she married Tom Cruise. I know this is one thing I won't be watching, especially since her acting is vapid at best. She's vapid, and she's also not worthy of being called a fashionista. Nice to know that the Kennedy family isn't liking this. Greg Kinnear is a far better actor than Katie is and ever will be.

Apple now has Rhapsody as an app, which is a great start, but it is currently hampered by the inability to store locally on your iPod, and has a dismal 64kbps bit rate. I wonder what Ciara has been up to for the past several months! It's been a long time since she released her great song Ride with that revealing video. Ludacris appears to get his releases on time, so where has Ciara been? I can't wait for Ciara's fourth album, Basic Instinct, to drop. It's killing me.

The Zune concentrates on being a Portable Media Player. Not a web browser. Not a game machine. Maybe in the future it'll do even better in those areas, but for now it's a fantastic way to organize and listen to your music and videos, and is without peer in that regard. The iPod's strengths are its web browsing and apps. If those sound more compelling, perhaps it is your best choice.cheap shirt wholesale
