Freddie I wrote a very similar entry yesterday about Ed. (Have a look if you'd like) I agreewith you. Say what you want, Ed has always been a success and I've heard it beats both Leno and Letterman in the local ratings. Damn Rogers. How can you axe someon like Peter Silverman? Is it because Rogers is the type of company people would go to Peter Siverman to complain about? Just saying Furthermore, they've axed a innovative show, a historical landmark in my humble opinion - Speaker's Corner. I dno't see the logic! At this rate, they'll even axe Breakfat Televison, they only thing left that I like in Toronto in the AM
Ripkin! once had the creater of this site on MOJO. I might have to visit it again soon. It's called ihaterogers.ca and it's obvious to me why such a site needs to exist. Rogers sucks!

I honestly hope that City Tv and all the unique things they do, are not going to slowly disappear.
Speakers corner, ed the sock, the great news. When so many stations shuffle their tv personalities there is gord anne and mark dailey. I know someday they will retire but I will miss them.
All the unedited late night movies with swearing and nudity left in.
I always thought they were edgy, kookie, out there and fun.
Rogers is (i'm afraid) moving the station to the new spot at dundas square and slowly going to suck all that is different. By homogenizing the content they will lose all that made it different.
THere is no other station in the world quite like them, but there are a ton of the other ho hum stations.

Ironically, Ed the sock got his start on Rogers tv, went to City, and then fired when Rogers bought City.
Like you Fred, i don't find the sock funny at all, but it (he?) was funnier i think when he was on cable. It was more raw (read: no budget). The City show was still pretty cheesy looking but just not very funny..and personally..i found it difficult to watch. The laugh track made it even less funny...and the same individual 3 laugh tracks over and over made it worse.
Similarly, Tom Green got his start at Rogers..had a big following..went Hollywood.. failed miserably..now he's doing the show out of his house..back to the basics (sorta like when Rocky went back to his roots in part 22 or whatever.)
And, Buzz was a show on Comedy a couple of years ago, but it too started on Rogers, and in my opinion that's where they had their funniest bits. by the time it got to comedy all the good ideas seemed to be gone.

I used to love watching Ed the Sock on Much Music when he did the Fromage shows, they were awsome and I found them entertaining.
Speaking of the Comedy Network, what ever happened to Puppets Who Kill? That was an other good show. Kinda cheesy at times, but still entertaining.

Ryan, since you brought up Buzz, YES it was best on cable. Arguably, so was Ed. I watched Ed a lot more when he was on good old channel 10 actually.

Dude, too late. Look around, it's already happening and it's just the beginning.
The reason they probably let Peter Silverman go is because Rogers is the type of company that people would likely go to Peter Silverman to complain about.
The fate of CITY TV is likely going to be the Edge's fate. It's going to become sterile and boring, with no backbone.
