Who's Running This Country
Yesterday CanadianThinker reported plans by the federal government to crack down on the illegal manufacturing and distribution of cigarettes in Canada, and Ontario in particular.
Today, a Mohawk Chief has warned the RCMP that tobacco raids better not happen because his people will push back.
Mike Delisle, grand chief of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawake, says it will be a "huge mistake" if the RCMP plans to step up such raids. The Kahnawake Mohawk do not consider the manufacture and sale of tobacco products on their land to be illegal, he said.
Again, who’s running this country?

As a person who was born and raised in Brantford, Ontario which neighbors Six Nations Indian Reserve I don't see these people as being productive members of society.
Every race through the course of history has been shit on by somebody and we rise above it and move on. I understand white man came to this continent and conquored and I feel bad for the original natives that were hurt by this but that was a few hundred years ago. I mean the Irish and Scottish have moved on from England conquoring them. The Jews have risen above the shit that they had to endure and that was only less then 70 years ago. It is pretty sad that the natives beef is over tobacco.
Out of any race they have the highest Diabetes problem, one of the highest substance abuse problems, the majority have low education but, they have their own land and they don't pay taxes. These people should be thriving and on top of their game but instead a large majority are unemployed. But hey, they have their tobacco and they can barricade whatever they want.
I find it quite sad that the government has nothing better to do than target the natives that are selling tabacco on native land and according to the police and government distributing them outside of native land. According to the government it's costing "us" millions" (you gotta love the random numbers with no teeth behind them). Holy#&&^#. This coming from a government that literally, on a daily basis is blowing hundreds of thousands of dollars and in some cases millions of dollars on scandals, expenses, investigations, the list goes on.
I'm pretty sure the government could find better things to look into than illegal cigarettes, many of which probably have a far great financial impact than illegal cigarettes. How about hospital wait times, looking for illegal immigrants, tightening the gun laws, tightening the laws so that crimanls are kept behind bars instead of being on parol so that they can commit more crimes...the list goes on.
At the end of the day I think it comes down to the government growing the balls to prioritize what issues are impacting us the worst and actually doing something about it. If you are like me then you are tired of lip service...especially if it is not gratifiying.
here we go again . people who started using a perfectly legal product & became addicted to it being punished . i don,t agree with smoking . i do smoke . however that being said don,t cut into my financial abilities by taxing the crap out of me & then trying to get rid of native smokes cause i might save a buck.. make smoking illegal. every year raise the age for smoking by 1 year . leave the price of smokes reaasonable for us poor bastards. in 50 years all smokers are dead & smoking is illegal everywhere. end of story & i can still afford to help out my kids & grandkids till i,m gone. thnx.
The Indian chief has actually threatened the RCMP by saying that he would fight back if the cops came onto "their" land to stop their illegal trade.
Why do we let them get away with this crap?? Everytime they want something they just take it and our governments let them away with it. Like Caledonia for example. And that's just the start.
I say go after anything illegal whether it's on the Res. or not. Like the separatists, THEY LIVE IN CANADA. Like it or not it's where they are. And as usual you and I pay their way through life.
Go get them!!!
Freddie,
I see that you have published several commentaries about violence, lawlessness in Haldimand County and the Caledonia area OPP policing foo-pah !, on your blog.
It really is as bad, if not even worse than you have portrayed on your blogs. This situation is what we have lived with on a daily basis for over two years now, without any effort of any authorities even lifting a finger to restore any sense of law and order in these small Ontario communities. All housing and commerce development has been shut down by these native rebels, due to the fact that the OPP will not uphold the law and arrest these homespun native terrorists.
The people of Ontario and Canada need to be better informed of what is really happening here, because this is just the beginning of the failure of democracy in Canada. And we all are well aware of what sort of turmoil the failure of a democracy will create,... as we currently have many Canadian troops fighting for the restoration of a democracy in Afghanistan. The general public only sees what the media dares to publish on occasion... The media appears to have been effectively suppressed by the OPP and provincincial authorities. Most of the media coverage has been limited to local publications and local editorials.
Again,... Thanks for spreading the word.
I have sent out links to your blog to many locals to write to you with their comments.
