Most Canadians are level headed people, willing to give their fellow citizens the benefit of the doubt, but when it comes to child abuse the rules change.
This story out of Edmonton, involving a man who was found "not criminally responsible" for the sexual assaults on three young girls is shocking and all too familiar to Canadians.
Too often attacks on our children are taken too lightly and even when convicted the perpetrators get off with horrendously light sentences.
The Edmonton case is one that all Canadians should follow. Jonathan Quinn Lewis will be sent to psychiatric hospital for more assessment, but the question is, what' happens after that?
Will he end up back on the streets like so many other dangerous offenders, only to victimize someone else's child?
The laws of this land must be changed to crush child abuse. Regardless of mental state.

It's truly sad when the laws to protect our animals are tougher then the laws to protect our little ones.
I agree with the psychiatrist on one thing. The guy is obviously mentally ill. Having said that it is now our responsibility to protect our children from a person like that and there are only two ways to do that: Either, he agrees to surgical castration or he is locked up for the rest of his life (and I mean life) as a criminally insane person. No if's but's or maybe's period.
