The Madness Continues

May 8, 2008 @ 11:13

Yes, the madness continues in Toronto where a return to segregation is well underway and threatening to grow.

Now that an Africentric school has been approved for kindergarten to grade five for the fall of 2009, the push is on to expand it to a high school for the fall of 2010.

It’s got to be one of the most bizarre situations in the history of Canada.

A country that has prided itself in multi-culturalism and accepting just about anyone from anywhere in the world, is now being pressured into taking a huge step backward by dividing kids by colour in our schools.

We're not fooled by the smoke screen that suggests these schools will be open to all kids of all colours and backgrounds. They will be occupied by black kids who have parents who choose to blame the school system for the scholastic failures of children.

This is political correctness in its worst form.

The idea of Africentric schools is wrong but the concept lives on because too many people are afraid to say no.

Didn't agree with you on the timmys issue but couldn't agree more on this one.

How can a group of people of an ethnic/minority background fight so long and so hard to eliminate segregation on buses, in schools, at movie theatres, in dining establishments, voting etc.......then get what they want.....only to turn around and now want exclusion themselves.
Its revers racism. Black leaders fought to show how we all bleed the same, just color on the skin, kids of all backgrounds studying, playing together breeds togetherness.....then they laud this?
bizarre, wacko idea. Whats next a chinese school system, a polish system, black buses, white buses, different subway cars.
just wacko!

Society was damned the second the term "politically correct" was created. It's a way too easy way out of sticky situations. These schools are just a band-aid solution to the real problem: laziness. Those kids who were doing poorly in school were too lazy to learn anything. What they need is a swift kick in the pants like we used to get "in the old days". M.L.K. is spinning in his grave.

I love the irony. In a city where most citizens proudly pound their chests and proclaim “we live in the most diverse city in the world” is the same city that is trying so hard to segregate its people. It takes ya back to 1950s Alabama where black and white, rich and poor lived, went to school, and shopped separately.

Anyone who thinks special Black schools are a one-off is sadly mistaken. Already in this city we see so many parents sending their kids to expensive private schools or failing that they send them off to French immersion schools. Thank God for the French, eh?

Whether you want to call it ‘racist’ or ‘segregationist’ this city has it.

Imagine a proposal for an ALL-WHITE school , the PC crowd would be tripping over themselves in condemnation - the Globe, the Star, CBC all having collective seizures...quick,somebody call Jack Layton !

If they want it, let them have it... In fact we should encourage it... That way, when it turns out to be the collosal failure it is going to be, the morons who are pushing for this cannot turn around looking for more excuses and say "we never had everyones full support and that's why it failed".

If they want it, open up and say "ah"... I'd ram it down their throats.

I am totally against the concept of Black Schools, but of course the TDSB isn't interested in my opinions, since I am a white male.

I hope that this school doesn't get any 'special' treatment from the TDSB. Make sure that the funding is the same as all the other schools. Make sure that the class sizes are the same as the 'other' schools. Let them succeed or fail strictly on the curriculum - not the amount of dollars that are shoveled their way.

It is ironic how these people wanted to be treated as equals, but they always want special treatment.

Rene Levesque was the power behind a similar disaster in Quebec... as Premier of the province he said that public schools were to be French only. This backfired in his face... at graduation, only the bilingual students could get jobs, and guess what? The French kids did not know enough English to get hired for any decent jobs, and the English kids who Levesque forced to take French were fluent in both languages and they got all the good jobs, kicking Levesque right in the teeth.

In Levesque's attempt to take the province further into French, the main group that he thought he was helping ended up being hurt the most by this action.

You'll be able to use this same sentence in a couple of years, just change Levesque with TDSB.

Well as I don't agree with one race schools, I think Im going to enroll in this high school when it comes around.
And when they deny me because im white, I will bring it forward to the Human Rights Commision just like every other person who has faught so hard to destroy our traditions in this great country.
Girls are allowed in the "Boy Scouts", Seiks are allowed to wear turbans in the RCMP and the list goes on.
Funny how a group of people faught so hard to be a part of something great and are now fighting to go backwards.

I've just started reading THE MINDS OF BOYS: Saving Our Sons from Falling behind in School and Life, by Michael Gurian & Kathy Stevens. I picked it up at the Ontario Science Centre and it's been fascinating reading how our school systems are designed in a way that generally benefits girls and severely hinders boys.

If the TDSB wants to have a special school for disenfranchised students, they could start a school devoted to teaching boys the way boys are meant to be taught, to the benefit of boys and girls of all shades.

Creating a Mosque at Ground Zero has to really be the most stupid notion during the history of man, I seriously believe it's intentionally engineered, at best, to insight controversy. I am not a conspiracy theorist still , this is possibly shameful or evil, conceivably the two of them. adele

First of all - I hope it does cause MLB some major angst. Their role in all of this is significant. Selig should be forced to step down. Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE knew what was going on. And rather than confront it Selig and his merry band of synchophants decided to ignore it. Ignore it as Bonds heads swelled to gargantuan proportions. Clemons is a major league tool and frankly deserves what he's about to get......:-)

I bet if it were Barry Bonds instead of Clemens being charged by Congress, you posters wouldn't be blaming Congress and Major League Baseball. It's amazing how you become an apologist for one of your own who is obviously as big a liar as Bonds. There, that's how you call a liar a liar. Stop the BS and call the man what he is......:-)
