Righting A Wrong
The reaction was fast a furious to the firing of Tim Horton's employee in London, Ontario. It became the subject of talk shows and blogs right across the country and the corporation quickly went into damage control.
Even though Nicole Lilliman was given another job at a different location, it was still a shameful exercise that should never have happened.

What happened to her is disgraceful.
Yesterday's article re this situation stated that "Employees aren't allowed to give out free products and that's the bottom line," said district Manager Nicole Mitchell. "She gave out free product and it doesn't matter if it is a Timbit or a coffee or a doughnut or 10 sandwiches or what"
Today's article as posted by MSN News states that
"There is currently no company-wide policy on giving away free Timbits."
So which one is it?
Either way, this is so typical of a corporate giant back tracking not because they did Nicole Lilliman wrong but because of the fear of revenue loss and negative press. I can almost guarantee you that if this incident did not hit the press Tim's would not have reversed the decision.
In my mind, two things come out of this.
1. There is power when individuals gather together to right a wrong. Why is it that we don't do this for other large wrongs that need to be reversed...ie. getting screwed with gas prices when gas prices do not have to be so high. Corporations make billions while we suffer.
2. What's happening with common sense and decision making? I my self work for a large corporation and everyday I see people afraid to make "right" decisions because they are not part of company policy. Are the individuals upstairs so far removed that they don't realize that their policies are resulting in more frustration and poor service. Is it time for them to take the golden spoons out of their mouths and perhaps come done and do some grunt work in order to get a better perspective? I think so!
I have to agree with Van Boy, If we can unite to get a woman her job back, why don't we unite to do something about the price of gas? It's not impossible to do and is obviously a wrong being done to us.
