Go Bruins Go

April 21, 2008 @ 07:41

It’s been a long time since I’ve looked forward to a hockey game as much as I do this one.

It’s game seven between the Montreal Canadiens and Boston Bruins at the Bell Centre tonight, and we could be on the verge of a huge upset.

Check that. On paper it’s a huge upset, but the fact the eighth seed Bruins are giving the first seed Habs all they can handle doesn’t come as a surprise to me.

The Canadiens, thanks to a wild combination of good fortune and playing in a weak conference finished on top of the standings with no where near the best talent.

Now its coming back to bite them in the ass.

Hab fans were quite confident going into the playoffs, they looked way beyond the Bruins who just managed to slip into the playoffs, but all of a sudden its life and death, and if Boston continues their “stifling” system, the Habs could fall in the first round.

Wouldn’t that be sweet? Oh yes, and it will be even sweeter next year when the Canadiens find their proper level and probably miss the playoffs all together.

Teams that depend on players like Alexie Kovalev don’t win Stanley Cups. End of story.

I really can’t wait for the game tonight, I’m anticipating an Bruins victory, but even if it doesn’t happen, no sweat.

Judging by their performance so far, the Habs will definitely fall in the next round.

à bientôt

Fred, after tonight's game, this blog will seem as irrelevant as your last few on the Habs!

how's the golf? I hear the weather's been nice there..

Price has come back to earth. In typical playoff fashion the refs aren’t calling much so Montreal’s power play which is their only source of offensive has been nullified.

Go Bruins Go indeed!!!

Sorry to disappoint but I cant force my self to root for the bruins, I like the Habs and think they are the Eastern Conferences best hope to go deep

I hate to break it to you Freddie - but the Habs are a young team with lots of talent. While I agree that they won't win the East again (that is Pittsburgh's job for the foreseeable future), you are absolutely nuts if you think they'll miss the playoffs next year.

The Bulldogs won the Calder Cup last year, and its young guys are already making an impact on the NHL for the Habs. Who exactly do the Leafs have for the future? Kyle Wellwood? Steen? Are you kidding me?

Freddie - you are about as rationale and realistic as Vito from the Fan 590. You continually refuse to look at the actual results before making crazy commentary.

Dumb arse.

To all of us who don't like the Habs, just getting to game 7 is awesome. The Habs will be done in the next round if in fact they won't be done tonight.

The Habs are definitly winning tonight, they have to, this is do or die.
Then they need to take some time to regroup and get their shit together for round 2, this is crazy, the power play was awsome all season long and now pretty much nothing, and they've had some opportunities too.
I'm also looking forward to the game tonight, and I'm thinking positive, the habs will win tonight.

GO! HABS! GO!

This is a good team that will not win the cup this year, but can show you what a team can do if they are willing to COMPETE. In them you see all that the Leafs do not have. I am a Leaf fan, for some stupid reason and it hurts.

Fred, before you comment on the riot..let me say, this was started by a few yahoos who are not fans of the game. The celebration was a reason to go downtown and start a riot.
Secondly, I'd laugh my ass off when I lived in T.O and Leaf fans would celebrate after one win in the first round. I attribute this behaviour to fans wanting a reason to celebrate (41 YEARS FOR THE LEAFS AND 15 FOR THE HABS) especially after seeing soccer fans in their respective cities showing up in large numbers and celebrating during the last World Cup. I never recall anyone celebrating after any playoff round..unless it was the Stanley Cup. The World Cup would see celebrations after every win (a-it's a shorter competition. b-fans from different cultures would also come out to celebrate their nationality.) There is no doubt this is the reason why fans have started to celebrate earlier in recent years. They have seen how soccer fans do it and they like it.
