A Tale Of Two Cities

April 16, 2008 @ 11:30

The NFL released its 2008 schedule yesterday and it didn’t go over well in Buffalo.

The Bills game in Toronto on December 7th will feature the Miami Dolphins as the opposition and Buffalo fans are pissed.

The Dolphins may be the worst team in the NFL, but they are the Bills number one arch rival and Buffalo fans love to squish the fish. Not only that, but a December 7th game meant the Bills would get a huge weather advantage.

Not now.

For what ever reason, the Bills in conjunction with the NFL decided to put this game in the Skydome which means Buffalo fans have been robbed of arguably their favourite date on the schedule.

Meanwhile, the reaction is completely different in Toronto. Football fans that were looking forward to this game are disappointed that they’ll be forced to pay king sized prices to watch a horrible football team.

There’s no hatred for the Miami Dolphins in Toronto, so it comes down to bang for your buck, and a lot of people who’ve committed to this game feel like the NFL more or less dumped it in Toronto.

What do I think?

By the time the game rolls around there will be a huge buzz and given that Bill Parcells is now running the show in Miami, it just might be better than anticipated.

I’d go.

I have been to Buffalo to watch these 2 teams 5 times its traditionally called the Canadian weekend.
They put additional seats on sale in the Canadian end of the stadium.I would prefer to watch the game in Buffalo I've watched football in the skydome. And didn't like it there is no atmosphere and their is noting like drinking ice cold beer in -15 weather,
after a few the temperature does not matter but is such a better place to watch a game

Heard this bitch yesterday, checked the schedule today, only other date after Nov 30 (Grey Cup) is the New England Patriots.

Now wouldn't that one cause a stink?

According to the latest Argo radio ads, the lottery for tickets is over-subscribed by "several thousand", so your only sure way to go is to buy Argos season tickets. I'm a big fan of the Argos, but I've never bought season tickets in the past, and this is no incentive for me to do so. I support the Argos by going to a couple games a year, but I have no interest in encouraging Ted Rogers greed by buying into this fleecing.

Unjustified whining from Buffalo since these late season Miami/Bills contests have needed corporate buyers to purchase tickets to avoid being blacked out.

But suprisingly, the idea of shifting some games north of the border have been well received by both Western New York fans and media. They realize that this is a necessary step in retaining the franchise for the Buffalo area at least for the near future ( or at least until Ralph Wilson passes, but that's another story)

necessary

As a season ticket holder for the Bills they are taking away the number one draw for Bills fans. They love this game, at the tailgating every second person is carrying a "Squish the Fish" sign. (Don't bother telling anyone it's a mammal, you may end up with a tooth missing)

The 3 other guys I share the 4 seats with, all received the early buy notice from the Bills to get tickets in Toronto. When we found out the price... forget it.

They could have picked any other game, the Skydome would have been full not matter what. Why take the one that would do the most for Buffalo. Only a tiny percentage of Bills ticket holders would spend that kind of money to see this game in TO.

To Mr. Pretender, the only time that corporate help is needed to buy up the remainder of the 75,000 seats so the local TV can get their ad revenue is when the Bills totally stink. You see, in Buffalo, when the team stinks people don't go... why do you think Ralph Wilson wants to move the team to Toronto?? He can get 4-5 times the price for each ticket and by looking at the Leafs, he knows the place will be full no matter how bad the team sucks.

I was shocked to see that the annual SQUISH THE FISH game is at Skydome ( I agree with Fred and will not call it Rogers Centre)

Bills fans should be pissed
I thought they might put the Chargers or the Niners game in T.O.

But for $ 200 a ticket fans will pay to see the game indoors

FOOTBALL IN BUFFALO NEEDS SNOW

NFL/Bills are making a big mistake here. The Bills should not have been the team playing in Toronto. If I wanted to see them play, I'd drive the 1.5 hours. I would have rather the NFL put in other teams (Steelers, Raiders, NYG, NYJ, etc.).

I suspect this is all driven by Ralph Wilson wanting to make more money to "keep the team in Buffalo". What a joke. Once Ralph is gone, and the teams is sold (which is the plan) it will end up somewhere else anyway.

The Zune concentrates on being a Portable Media Player. Not a web browser. Not a game machine. Maybe in the future it'll do even better in those areas, but for now it's a fantastic way to organize and listen to your music and videos, and is without peer in that regard. The iPod's strengths are its web browsing and apps. If those sound more compelling, perhaps it is your best choice.

This is getting a bit more subjective, but I much prefer the Zune Marketplace. The interface is colorful, has more flair, and some cool features like 'Mixview' that let you quickly see related albums, songs, or other users related to what you're listening to. Clicking on one of those will center on that item, and another set of "neighbors" will come into view, allowing you to navigate around exploring by similar artists, songs, or users. Speaking of users, the Zune "Social" is also great fun, letting you find others with shared tastes and becoming friends with them. You then can listen to a playlist created based on an amalgamation of what all your friends are listening to, which is also enjoyable. Those concerned with privacy will be relieved to know you can prevent the public from seeing your personal listening habits if you so choose.

If you're still on the fence: grab your favorite earphones, head down to a Best Buy and ask to plug them into a Zune then an iPod and see which one sounds better to you, and which interface makes you smile more. Then you'll know which is right for you.

brand-new heard of the revolutionary Kinect? Its actually awesome! I never had so much fun playing gaming system before, eventhough I could call myself a hardcore player of which usually plays video games like Call of Duty etc. The Kinect is so different than other things I have ever played before. the actual motion controles perform really well, and plus, but not required to use a controller that can be played is the personification associated with freedom! No annoying button smashing any longer, a single word will do! You should think about getting the Kinect!.
