Bernardo's Purpose

April 24, 2008 @ 08:56

I realize our society is envied around the world and Canada probably leads the way when it comes to humanity and social justice, and for that I am thankful and proud.

Canada has a rich history of being fair, almost to a fault, because human rights come first and virtually everything else comes second.

This country is so obsessed with looking after “everybody” that it becomes downright bizarre. This is often played out through our justice system when criminals are actually treated better than their victims.

Victims fend for themselves, while in jail; criminals are well fed, given complete medical attention and free education.

Sometimes this bothers me and sometimes I think we should make exceptions to these rules. Sometimes I think we should consider the crime and the criminal and change the rules, and that’s why I think Paul Bernardo should be put to good use.

Let me explain.

If you’ve been following the news lately you know that Robert Baltovich has been found not guilty of killing former girlfriend Elizabeth Bain 18 years ago. Meanwhile, it’s widely believed that Bernardo may in fact have been the killer.

But word out of Kingston Penitentiary reveals Bernardo won’t talk about the Bain murder because he actually believes he has a shot at early parole and admitting to another killing would affect that.

He’s delusional of course. He’s been declared a dangerous offender and that status will never change and that means he’ll breathe his last breath in Kingston. He’ll never get out.

So here’s my idea.

Elizabeth Bain’s family has no closure. There’s no body and there’s no resolution at this point so the Bains continue to suffer while Baltovich is free and Bernardo rots in prison.

I really believe there should be an exception made in this case. I think the way should be cleared for the truth to be squeezed out of Bernardo. Apparently there are all kinds of methods to get people come to come clean, why not try a few on Bernardo.

Hell, there may be a few methods that are unproven but need a little more practice, why not use them on Bernardo. He’s no better than a laboratory rat.

It may involve pain, or it may not. Hey it may involve a few of Elizabeth Bain’s larger male family members spending a few minutes with Bernardo, all alone if need be, but I really think this is the chance for Paul Bernardo to finally serve a purpose with his miserable life.

Using Paul Bernardo in a way that would still be more humane than the way he used his victims, could provide a breakthrough for criminal investigations in the future and save families a lot of undue stress and heartache.

You know what I'm sayin?

I'm more than willing to stand in if the Bains don't have any large male relitives to get the job done.

I think all those things should be done to him and more. I just don't think you would ever get a straight answer out of him in regards to Elizabeth Bain. Enough torture and people will tell you anything.

Or he says he did it and will take people to the body since he can't draw a map. This allows him to get a little freedom and attention. Not a great thing.

But still beat him. Hold a charity fundraiser and people can bid on time to beat him. The money would roll in.

Sorry people, Bernardo is an animal. I, as I'm sure many have had thoughts about what they would like to do to that POS, but, that's just it. They are thoughts. When we, as a society start turning those thoughts into acts then, we are no better than the animals.

Opening the door to torture, no matter how justified you may think you are, is a very slippery slope. It is not ever appropriate to torture.

Wow! I actually agree with Mike.

Let Bernardo rot in prison without the perks he currently receives. Many people assume the victims families would want to personally execute this turd when in reality I’m sure most of them would just like to live their lives without ever hearing his name mentioned. As they say the best revenge is living well.

Just put him in general population...

Bernardo should be given the absolute basics for living, and nothing else. Make his life a living hell.

If you wanted to find out if he had any connection to the Bain murder, put him in a cage out in the woods during blackfly season. Keep him there until he talks. If it turns out that he had nothing to do with it, too bad:)

I'm really not sure what you're getting at here Freddie - are you angry at Baltovich or Bernardo??? Because both of them should always be suspects in Bain's murder.

Ricky P, your suggestion really rocks. But we can't and shouldn't lower ourselves to his level.

Why pretend we're better than animals anyway - we ARE animals. I would lose zero sleep knowing Bernardo was fed to a pride of lions or something. We know without a shadow of a doubt what this creep did - he's an animal. When a dog attacks a person, we have no problem putting it down. If a bear or cougar kills a person, we hunt it down and kill it. Why spare Bernardo?

You know, I am really sick of these bleeding heart "if we torture him, we are no better than him" comments. It is all BS.

EVERYTHING comes down to motive.

If the motive is some perverse pleasure, sexual or otherwise (the Bernardo method) , of knowing Bernardo is being put through the wringer, then I can agree that it is unwarranted.

IF however, there is a PURPOSE to putting that piece of human garbage and even his now free ex wife through whatever means necessary to garner the truth, then I am all for it.

Bernardo deserves less that human or even animal treatment.

Lets not forget Karla.

She was ADMITTEDLY complicit in the crimes he was convicted of and there is NO reason to believe she was ignorant of any others that were committed.

Karla got out early because our justice system is garbage. (Trust me on this as I have personal experience in these matters).

Focusing on Bernardo will be a waste of time as he will spend the rest of his life in prison, God willing.

Snaring Homolka and considering her knowledge or role in Bain's murder, IF true, would be a justice our politicians and the justice system denied the populace of Ontario and the citizens of Canada.

In 1995 he went into solitary, right? He was 30 then. Given the treatment and care he'll get in prison, he may well live to be 80.

50 years of 23 hour lock down, and lights that never get turned off.

Meanwhile, the delusion that he may actually get out begins to eat away at him when year after year, after year.... he remains behind bars. Slowly aging. Slowly dying.

I think that's perfect. I also think he'd enjoy any possible interaction to break up the monotony - even if it included getting he legs broken. And he could never be believed...

Nope. Let him rot.

I go to Kingston frequently and often pass Kingston Pen. When I do, I never fail to think of him. His crimes affected me in a way that no others have. I remember driving to work in the morning and crying about Kristen and Leslie as details of their murders were reported on the news. Beating him, torturing him, depriving him will not bring them back. It won't make the families feel better because the only thing that would, would be to have their girls back in their arms again. His crime touched all of us and we all become his victims if we continue to beat this dead horse about what should be done to punish him. Forget about it. He is where he should be, he will never get out, our justice system is what it is and his incarceration is the end of this terrible story. When you think about him and write about him and talk about him it gives him power. Don't. He would love it if he knew.

Let's go back to this system for Paul.

I am waiting for the time, which I realize will never happen, when Paul and Karla go away.

I think this sick bastard enjoys being "famous".

I spent many hours searching for the love of shopping, after reading the many celebrities who say, bought vintage Gucci Replica Leather Handbags have Oxfam in the cost of a bottle of wine. The only thing I found is like a bag a brand Louis Vuitton bag, was made after close inspection in China and LV logo painted on bag actually said 1V to say? Needless not buy because it would probably be a lot cheaper outside of a post on the market! After my unsuccessful attempts at charity shops, I tried to flea markets, Bazaars, flea markets and garage sales, but I was without my purse!

Can I just say what a relief to find someone who actually knows what theyre talking about on the internet. You definitely know how to bring an issue to light and make it important. More people need to read this and understand this side of the story. I cant believe youre not more popular because you definitely have the gift.
