I'm surprised that he has been so silent. I don't know who he is trying to please by not doing anything. Sometimes I feel that maybe I could support this Prime Minister and then there are little things like this that make me question him. It doesn't sit right with me.
I'm even more surprised that the Liberals aren't using this against him since they look for anything to taint him. If Harper went pee and didn't wash his hands Dion would try and make it front page news. But on this he's quiet. Dion is truly an idiot.

Sorry, but I can't agree with you on this one. I'm no Harper supporter, he's done "ok", not great, but "ok", but the bottom line here is it's not his job and I would rather that he did his job.
Our Foreign Affairs Minister has been involved and it is that positions responsibility to provide assistance, not the PM. If the Prime Minister of Canada was constantly running around trying to get wayward Canucks out of foreign prisons, nothing else would get done here.
If the Minister of Foreign Affairs isn't doing his job, then the PM can step in and correct that, but he still shouldn't do anything in regard to it other than approve the actions of the Minister of Foreign Affairs or sign a diplomatic note.

Jason - you have to be kidding. Harper's managed to push through just about anything he's wanted with this minority government. There's no opposition, so he basically has a majority now.

Harper hasn't pushed through any big items. Everything has been pretty plain and without much disagreement. It's not like he has tried to put changes to NAFTA or anything that would acutally bring down the Government. He's too smart for that.

Harper hasnt done anything? Within monthe he negotiated the softwood lumber agreement, and reduced the GST, to name a few things. All accomplished in a minority government.
