He Said She Said

March 20, 2008 @ 09:31

My sweet wife and I had words last night.

It was a heated argument over the Barack Obama controversy and how much he should be held accountable.

There’s part of me that wants to cut the guy some slack. I don’t think he should be pulverized for the words of his Pastor, but my wife disagrees.

“He’s running for President of the United States” said Delyse. “It changes the rules.”

Delyse thinks if Obama had political aspirations he should have disassociated with this guy long ago and the fact he didn’t makes him pretty stupid.

What Jeremiah Wright said was way over the line and it’s ridiculous to think that Obama wasn’t aware of it, and disgusting to think that he’d continually sit in a pew year after year listening to Wright's crap.

“And what about his young daughters” asked my sweet love dot. “Have they sat there and listened to all that venom about white people? What kind of impression has it had on them? Why wouldn’t Americans start to have doubts about Obama and what he really stands for and thinks?”

Good questions to which I only had feeble come back.

Freddie: It seems your wife should be writing this blog instead of you. She absolutely correct and the point about his daughters listening to this lunatic go on about America, white people and god knows what else is well taken.

I would expect a reverend to speak about love, peace, being charitable, being a good Christian, etc.

I agree with my little daughter-in-law......I said
right from the beginning he is
great to look at, but I really
do question his running for
president, not only because of
his pastor and his acid tongue, but I have never heard
a speech yet with any depth to
it.........he is not presidential material. Maybe
in ten years but not now with
the problems the United States has after George Bush
screwed it up good.

Right on Delyse, as I said in yesterday's comments how could he sit there Sunday after Sunday for 20 years and listen to this crap. It's make him very suspect. He cannot become President!!

I completely agree with Delyse Freddie. I'm way over Obama.

He's had years to consider his frienship with Wright and it's impact on his career. If it's possible he never considered Wright a liability, then Obama is even scarier than I thought.

I cannot comprehend how someone with any sense (let alone a future presidential candidate) could listen to the Nazi crap Wright spews and not step away. Pastor Hitler baptized Obama's daughters? For that reason alone I would not give him my vote..

Did you guys even bother going to youtube to listen to Obama's speech the other day? It's long but worth sticking with.

How serious a problem is Rev. Wright when the Clintons have Whitewater in their pasts, not to mention obvious infidelities in their marriage about which they have not been completely forthcoming. I like the Clintons but let's face it - Bill needs to be back in the White House because he's got nothing to do. Do you think he's just going to stand by and be "First Husband", visiting schools and laying wreaths? No way, he's going to be running the show, and Hilary is his ticket back inside.

Maybe another Clinton White House is not a bad thing, but after eight hellish years of Bush rule, the US is being offered a golden opportunity for real change - and they should take it.

Delyse is right, Freddie. But ultimately, I know you will come around!
Loving You!

Trish, I agree with your blog, except the last paragraph.

The danger lies in the fact that people are so sick and tired of the Bush administration that they consider any change is better than what they've got right now. Think again. This is not just some random job which is up for grabs here. Voting for Obama, who has no experience at that level, and doesn't seem to be that squeaky clean after all, could have dire consequences not only for the US but for the rest of the world. I, for one would rather go with the devil I know (Hillary)

If he were white, would anyone bother about the minister back home?

During the Jimmy Carter era, the antics of Carter's less-than-devout and drunken brother Billy were considered embarassing, but not harmful to his candidacy.

Obama is black, so there is a separate set of rules for him.

Argie
March 20, 2008 / 15:38

Come on Trish – you’re not serious are you? Playing the race card – what a surprise.

If any of the white candidates had a preacher/nutjob like this guy they wouldn’t have gotten this far. Can you imagine if Clinton, McCain, etc had a preacher who spewed anti-black, anti-Semitic, anti-gov hatred? They would have had to completely disown the guy or just plain drop out do to declining polls.

Bob
March 20, 2008 / 16:23

Fully agree with you Argie. Obama can thank god that he is black. If it would have been the other way around the white candidates would be toast and the blacks would go nuts and you would hear and see it all over the planet.

Trish, how can you compare a drunken president's brother who may have done stupid things to a fanatic pastor like White. Listen to what he preaches: 911 is the fault of the Americans, the chicken simply come home to roost. THE HIV virus was planted by the Americans in Africa and the list goes on.

The guy is a fanatic anti-white nutcase and for Obama to be associated with a guy like that for the past 20 years is totally unexcuseable. Obama can deliver another beautifully crafted 3 hours speech and I still won't buy it.

Trish
March 20, 2008 / 18:37

Do you really think that as president he will preach that 9/11 is the fault of americans and that Americans planted HIV in Africa? Isn't that what a lot of people now think, thanks to George Bush and company?

What chance would Hillary have if she went to a BBQ at David Dukes house tonight?

mike (Buffalo Boy)
March 20, 2008 / 21:26

Again, if you people who are getting on Obama, Jon in Buffalo, you really need to look at the Republican side and some of the religious nut jobs supporting them, Pat Robertson has made a living supporting George W. and now John McCain and there are several moments and instances where he has made anti gay statements and about how New Orleans and NYC got what was coming to them because of the Gays and blacks. If you don't believe me check out videos of JErry Falwell and Pat Robertson talking about it on You tube. Those two supported president bush.

Trish

Finally, a voice of reason! Amen, buffalo boy, and thank you.

Jon in Buffalo
March 21, 2008 / 08:03

Hey Mike:
You are correct that Robertson and Falwell supported President Bush. You are also correct that each of them has made terribly wrong and harsh statements, which I don't support and never have.
But here's the difference: Neither Robertson nor Falwell was Bush's minister. Neither one was in his circle of friends. Neither was an advisor or confidante. Neither was in any way involved with him personally or professionally.

Wright is Obama's minister, friend, advisor AND personal confidante--by Obama's own admission.
Even Obama himself doesn't seem to get the difference. He says he could no more disown Wright than he could his own Grandmother. But--you don't get to choose your family, but you DO get to choose your friends and associates. Sometimes, friendships end because people drift apart or have a rift because of hurtful statements. There is NO WAY Obama didn't know or hear Wright make these statements time and time again...yet he kept coming back for more, time and time again.

But, he wants us all to "move on" and forget this...because he says so.

Uh-uh. Not a chance.

Couple of things: to Jon (in Buffalo) McCain and Robertson are together. McCain has spoke at his University, so what is the difference between Obama and McCain?

Second, before passing judgment (Pam and others) I would recommend you watch the full video. He was QUOTING an American diplomat.

Why is it a surprise to anyone that this lowsy president of ours would support the building of a structure of death. Obama has done absolutely nothing for this country except make it worse. He is just another BS’er politician

Truly Embarrassing that people permit Extremist Foreign Political Figures on our soil immediately after numerous years of hate towards our country. America should stay away from the UN and show all these extremists our opinion of there stupid ideological background. Qaddafi, Ahmadinejad, Chavez, and others have far to long been welcomed to this Sacred and Incredible nation. I say Enough is enough, Close up our doors to those Hateful Bastards and Say No longer to the U.N. Get out, your NOT nor have never been made welcome.

Lindsay Lohan “I’ve certainly not abused prescribed drugs. I never have – never during my life. I've no want to. That’s not who I am,” Lindsay Lohan says. “I’ve admitted to stuff I’ve done – to, you will know, dabbling in some things and seeking things ’cause I am young and curious and assumed it's like, alright, ’cause many people were doing it and other people place it around me. And I see what came in my life simply because of it.”

Lohan Goes to Rehabilitation Today, She is clearly doing this like a stunt to minimize her sentencing in October or else altogether evade any incarceration. She is so obvious and predictable.

Buy Cheap Replica Handbags
October 9, 2010 / 20:37

Buy Cheap Replica Handbags are perhaps the oldest fashion accessories for women and the list of styles. The different models and different materials have shown a distinct definition of fashion. However, the material is never popular with the production of leather handbags. You can find different leather while browsing through the brands of leather bags, but it will be there. Some leather and exotic as ostrich or python, but the fine leather bags will be set not only for celebrities, but fans of fashion. What many women do not stop, think about fine leather handbags are its costs are very expensive. Some of those who go for the not simple, can pay to think, if this is the best investment. However, there are aspects that it pays to buy the bags.
