I agree with Ferraro’s remarks as well. However I don’t how this is wonderful, Fred. Martin Luther King spoke about his dream of being ‘judged by the content of his character, not the colour of his skin’. It seems most voters are judging Obama by his skin colour – either positively or negatively.
This whole talk about ‘change’ is just BS. Of course we’re going to get change – Bush can’t run again so anyone or anything will be change. If you really want change, how about we have a computer as president - that would be change! Instead of a human being in the oval office we’ll have a computer make all the critical decisions whether it’s about national security, the appointing of Supreme Court judges, etc…. “Change, yes we can!!”

There is nothing that infuriates me more than when someone throws a race card or sex card at a situation. Personally speaking, I don't think Obamas popularity is because he is half black, his popularity is because of his ability to inspire. The United States has made inroads in terms of it's racial views but it still has a long way to go before it is as tolerant as Canada.
Although it may be true that a black voter is more likely to vote with his or her color and as American media outlets love to point out hispanics have a love affair with the Clinton's, I find it hard to believe that the average 'white' American will look at Obama and say 'He's black, he has my vote'. The hurdle he has to climb is as large as one Hillary Clinton has to go through. The difference is that Obama is likable and intelligent.
When will politicans and media outlets grow the hell up and stop injecting sex and race based venom when what is really at stake is the issues and who is going to best serve the needs of the people?

No one is thinking? Shirley Chisim, Jessie Jackson, and Al Sharpton ran for president. Why didn't blackness help them? They couldn't carry the black vote anywhere. Now we have this candidate that Al Sharpton says, "He maybe our color but not our He was supported by whites before blacks got solidly behind him. Obama use a lot of vague, positive words like ‘change’ but at the end of the day, he’s very careful not to divulge what he truly believes in. Sure, he’s against the Iraq war (most people would agree with him there) but outside of that he hasn’t discussed how he’ll get the US economy back on its feet. He hasn’t discussed how he’ll fight terror and finally he hasn’t discussed his solution to the illegal immigrant problem in the US.

It means the same thing both Females and Blacks have been held out of the presidential arena because they are what they are. The fact that the two of them are in it still is a testament to how far things have come.
Argie, how could you say that about Obama. First of all the speeches are meant to drum up enthusiasm. He is not going to go up there in a speech and state specifics, if that what you are looking for then McCain hasn't done that either. McCain has less in his plans that Obama or Hiliary.
