If Only

March 26, 2008 @ 10:07

If only the Leafs hadn’t blown that two goal lead late in the third period of a game in Carolina back in January. If only they hadn’t done the same thing in Tampa Bay a couple of nights later.

If only they hadn’t crapped out during that western road swing in late January. If only they’d won a couple of those games.

If only. If only.

Problem is, when it comes to the Leafs it gets tiring because this is the third year in a row they’ve played dumb hockey during the regular season only to turn it on much too late and fall just short of making the playoffs.

It's tiresome, but it's the Toronto Maple Leafs.

A badly managed, and badly coached hockey team that doesn’t seem to be able to improve one year to the next, and thanks to this seasons pointless late season surge, they’ll find themselves in the same old situation.

In the middle of the pack, not good enough to make the playoffs, but not bad enough to secure a top notch draft pick.

I really don’t have a snappy ending to this posting or a resolution for what ails the Leafs.

We can anxiously await the arrival of a new general manager and hope that he works the magic necessary to turn this mess around. But as Leaf fan you can count on only one thing.

Aggravation.

Hey Fred, another painful year as a Leaf fan and you hit the nail on the head turn it on much too late. Now with this late season serge the Leafs have played their way out of the Stamkos sweepstakes. Promises, promises...Next year the seats will be full and the Leafs won't be in the playoffs.

If you want to know the true state of the Maple leafs
I will use one name
Harold Ballard
Even at his worst he did a better job running the leafs then the current collection of idiots . All be it its a different era.But through all his faults he never missed the playoffs 3 years in a row.
That is an all time low.
You can blame JFJ but its not all his Fault. There was two other donkeys in the stall with him
the only thing to do know is buy out allot of the over priced Vetrans and fire Maurice that is a must if this team wants to make the playoffs in the next couple of years

I'm not so sure getting rid of Maurice is the answer, he can only work with what he's got, and if he doesn't have much to work with that's not his fault.

Oh well, it's all good though, my Habs are in the playoffs and that's all that matters.

Hey Fred - do you still feel that "Top to bottom the Leafs are better then the Habs"?

I find it really funny that you are able to think rationally about all sorts of issues, but as soon as you talk about your sacred Leafs you become a complete nutbar. Just look at your posts over the past few weeks...

Too funny.

The Leafs are a team of perennial coulda-shoulda-woulda's.

Fletch needs to fire the everyone, from the coach to his assistants, trainers, equipment managers, front office staff, every player and then himself, and then sell the team to Rick Hillier

Then they need to build a new arena on Mutual St., change the name to the St. Pats, and then maybe they'll have a chance.

Other than that, expect the same next season; sell-outs every night, no financial incentive to do anything other than the same, rotten draft picks, mediocre players and and another losing season.

I quit

After 3 years of missing the playoffs, this is one long time fan that is fed up and not looking forward to another early departure. When will we learn ?? Last nights game was a joke to say the least. For a game that really mattered against one of the NHL's worst teams, this loss was hard to accept with such a one sided decision. It's time we stuck together and demanded better. If they lost a lot of their fan base, perhaps there would be changes throughout the whole organization.

If you're still on the fence: grab your favorite earphones, head down to a Best Buy and ask to plug them into a Zune then an iPod and see which one sounds better to you, and which interface makes you smile more. Then you'll know which is right for you.

The so much expected Glee Britney Spears event broadcast yesterday, the commonly bothered however seemingly recouping vocalist coming up with a splendid look and feel, really absolutely adore her for this, moreso than that Lohan gal.

Smart that Lindsay Lohan gets truly serious in relation to herself, she wants treatment like Mel Gibson must have a professional, preferably this lady is not going to get released from rehabilitation ahead of time this time around as getting discharged early from UCLA was in all probability the main reason why the lady relapsed so swiftly in the very first place, i am only praying for you entirely Lindsay, I truly it is possible to combat your destructive habits.
