E-mail From Mandy

I received this response to the posting "Shelfish". This comment is not directed at me, more at other people who posted comments.

"Mr. Badesha has every right to ride his motorcycle w/o a helmet. It is
a civil right given under the canadian charter of rights and freedoms
under section 2(b)everyone has the freedom of religion.

No, he can't take off his turban and no he can't place a helmet upon
it.

How would you want your rights and freedoms taken away and not be
protected under the CRF? You can't pick and choose who should be
protected under it and who shouldn't be.

The real issue here, is about money. Money that the Government is
afraid will have to pay out. The law was put into place, forcing people
to wear helmets: NOT for their safety, but because, of the fear of NOT
wearing helmets would cause greater health care costs. The government
made a law, to save tax payers dollars at the cost of our freedoms. The
same freedoms granted to us by the Canadian Charter of Rights and
Freedoms.

Your bloody tax dollars are going to the war in the MIddle East and
that's BILLIONS and BILLIONS of dollars. I don't see anythign happening
about that. I feel just because this situation is on a smaller scale
people are attacking Mr. Badesha. There is no one making a media alert
issue about the war and how tax payer dolllars are being used there.

By the way Mr. Badesha does pay for his OWN HEALTH CARE COST! He's a
tax payer just like the rest of you! You should blame the people who
are on welfare how use the public health care system and don't
contribute it but use it for free. Sadly, enough the people on welfare
aren't the immigrants but the people who claim Canada is THEIR country
and who tell them "leave my country"

By the way this isn't your country. Don't forget you didn't come
here first! The Natives and Aboriginals did. We have just as much of a
right to be here as much as you do. If imigrants weren't needed here
then why was the open door policy created? It was done to attract
immigrants because the sad truth is w/o immigrants canada would be
nothing.

Ps. If you hate the diversity and the multicultrualism maybe you should
leave. I heard the Americans are looking for ignorants like you. Oh and
if you don't want to take the plane then god damn take the bus."

Wow. Thank you for illustrating where arrogance and ignorance collide.

Does she know Canada is not in Iraq? Damn our Government for looking our for the best interest of its people and its healthcare system.

Unbelievable! Mandy, do you seriously think that wearing a helmet has anything to do with freedom of religion? Helmets are mandatory because they protect people's heads. Sorry, but it appears as though you may have fallen off your bicycle one too many times.

March 19, 2008 / 10:27

Was that from Barbara Hall????

WOW what a load of Shit.
You can not be serious about no one complaining about the war in Afghanistan. I believe the Dink Dion, and If I had to guess your man no balls Layton have threated on a couple of occasions to bring down the government.
I say let your turban wearing friend not wear a helmet but please let me know were he lives and works so i can stay away from that arera because when he gets hit and stains his turban with his brain juices I don't want to be caught up behind the I told you so Bus. Then will come the legal action were the poor basterd that hit him will have to face
as sure as shit will fall from my ass the R word will work its way into this case
It won't be about him not wearing a helmet

Mandy,
Do you realize that operation of a Motor Vehicle in this province is a privilege, and not a right. There are certain rules and regulation that you must follow, or you will lose this privilege, and it is required for every person in this province to wear a helmet to operate of a motor-cycle.
If your religion does not allow to wear a helmet, well I guess you can’t ride a motor-cycle here in the province of Ontario.

One law for all

Lots of assertations and fallacies, Mandy, but no deductive arguments. If this is how you present your opinion in discussions, I suggest you take a course in constructing a logical argument. I doubt you realize it but yelling, speaking over people and using a lot of words and yet saying very little, is not a good way to get your point across. Especially on Freddie's blog, which seems to be frequented by some very intelligent individuals who are quite capable of eating up and spitting out anything you have to say if your point is not well made.

Mandy,

I will buy you a ticket for a plane or for the bus, whichever one you perfer!! I think that you need to leave OUR country and go somewhere to where no one gives a damn about safety and laws but care more about religion. I think that you will be much happier there!

March 19, 2008 / 11:42

All i have to say is well said by you all especially ROB.
When you immagrate to Canada, you pledge to the counrty and all its laws before religion.
As I understand religious beliefs are important, there not as important as cracking your head wide open from crashing on your motercycle.
My cousin proved this theory a few years back. Rest in peice Mike.
And for you Mandy, yelling is not going to make anyone agree with you faster.

March 19, 2008 / 11:50

One more thing. Mr. Badesha gladly wore his helmet when he took his motorscyle road test. But now that he has his class M he doesn't want to wear it.
What a Hypocrite. If he really wanted to make a statement he should have done it before his road test.

RickyP
March 19, 2008 / 11:56

Mandy,

Do you have any idea how much health care costs? If Mr. Badesha was indeed in a serious accident, all of the money he paid into the health care system wouldn't last more than a few weeks at best. Chances are that the rest of us who play by the rules would be paying for him for a very very long time.

Mr. Badesha is wasting my tax dollars right now with his attitude and all the court time and human rights people involved (especially that yo-yo Barbara Hall).

If things are so bad here Mr. Badesha, you know what to do.

PartyPooper
March 19, 2008 / 12:02

First, Mr. Badesha is lucky to be in a country where he can attempt to defy the law and live to talk about it. I dare anyone to go to Mr. Badesha's home country and even attempt to defy the law, you'd be lucky to be found dead in the street.

Second, for the love of God somebody please tell me how the hell he got his license in the first place?! There is no way the M.O.T. allowed him to take his final test without a helmet.

Bob
March 19, 2008 / 12:48

Party Pooper, I mentioned in a previous blog that this dickhead got his license in BC, where the Seiks already got their way and they are exempt from wearing a helmet.

Unfortunately, this goof moved to Ontario.

Finally, as Rob said, riding a motorcycle or driving a car is not a right but a privilege.

Gee, and then they wonder why anti-semitism is on the rise worldwide?????????? Entertain idiots like this guy and the most tolerant individual sooner or later is wondering whether we're really on the right track.

Max Taffey
March 19, 2008 / 13:02

Nigel Trousershrapnel
March 19, 2008 / 14:54

I pride myself on my exactitude. As you'll see from this entry, I provide copious detail and try to be as precise as possible when describing the ways in which notoriety and selfishness shape Mr. Badesha's thinking. As this letter will make clear, Mr. Badesha's ideological colors may have changed over the years. Nevertheless, his core principle has remained the same: to make our lives an endless treadmill of supreme court challenges while providing few real benefits to our health and happiness. If you don't believe me then note that we may never learn the answers to some of the more vexing questions surrounding Mr. Badesha's motives. I won't dwell on that except to direct your attention to the bilious manner in which he has been trying to uproot our very heritage and pave the way for his own vexatious value system. I would like to end on a heartfelt note. Mr. Badesha's demands are totally lacking in empirical support.

Dave O
March 19, 2008 / 21:47

Mandy,

Small typo in the 5th paragraph: dolllars.

And... oops. "anythign", and "imigrants".

Oh... and canada should really have a capital C.

Of course you capitalized a great many other words.... why so angry?

And....hmmm "Natives and Aboriginals came here first". Well - which? Natives or Aboriginals? Or, is there in fact a difference?

And your distaste for those less fortunate in our society is a bit discouraging. You paint with a wide brush...

Then of course there's your entire line of reasoning.... which I'm having a difficult time understanding.

Quite the rant: you seem to have earned everyone's attention. Congratulations.

That's what you wanted, isn't it? You know, to feel complete? Superior even?

Well done!

March 19, 2008 / 21:59

I have a suggestion....let's strap this gentleman onto a skid with no helmet.
Then while dragging it at 80km an hr, lets slam it into a imovable object causing him to fly into a wall at 150km per hour.
then lets dust him off and ask him to give us his personal feelings on helmets.
I don't know if puddles of brains and mush can answer, but we will ask him nonetheless.

How about a little religious history lesson, followed by an extrapolated conclusion.

The origin of Sikhs wearing a turban, or dastaar as it is called by the Sikhs, was by design of the Sikh Gurus, the fathers of the Sikh religion. The idea being at the time that only the higher castes wore turbans and the Sikh Gurus sought to bring equality and egality to all, and so their followers wore the turbans that the higher castes wore, to say that they were not inferior simply because they were of a lower caste. Absolutely nothing wrong with that at all.

However, this Badesha guy is now using the wearing of the turban to distinguish himself from the rest of the population, to establish himself in a class based on religious identification. This goes against the spirit of the reason for wearing a turban in the first place, which is to be an equal with all other people. Well the majority of the population in Canada do not wear a turban and so neither should a Sikh. It's time to abandon an outdated custom whose raison d'etre simply does not apply in a country such as Canada.

There is another reason for wearing the turban but again it is one that stems from being a Sikh in a country where they are far-outnumbered by Hindus and muslims. It was as a means of cultural identity. A way of standing out from the crowd.

I would say that most people in Canada don't give a damn what religion you practice providing you don't go around imposing it on other people. The wearing of a turban is advertising your religion, a means by which you deliberately distance yourself from everyone else around you. Multiculturalism is one thing, but religious and class superiority is quite another and that is how the behaviour of this guy is being seen.

If he enjoys the freedoms of being a citizen of Canada, then take the turban off and become a Canadian. Otherwise go back to India.

Dear Mandy,

For everything that is incorrect in your screed, you are correct when you write that Mr. Badesha has a right NOT to wear a helmet. Absolutely correct. Having said that, riding a motorcycle, or operating any motorized vehicle in the Province of Ontario, is a privilege, not a right. By choosing to exercise that privilege, Mr. Badesha agrees to abide by the codes set out in the Highway Traffic Act which states that those riding motorcycles on public roadways and highways are obligated to wear a MOT-approved helmet.

Mr. Badesha has a simple choice to make: a) wear the helmet with a modified turban; b) forego the helmet and be prepared to pay the ensuing tickets issued under the HTA; or c) find a different mode of transport that does not conflict with the tenents of his religion.

It really is that simple.

KnockOff Handbags
October 27, 2010 / 23:29

Among the accessories, Knockoff Handbags are a popular fashion accessory. If you select a handbag, in general the style of the bag is the most important. Anything else? The color of the bag. They are the navigation features when choosing a bag. If you are looking for the perfect handbag, you have all the parts in the pocket of the test. Most bags are in eight parts, including the surface of the fabric, lining, straps, hardware, wire, glue, zip and button made. Each party has different specifications. The surface of the bag, like the face of a person. If you find your preferred style, you should look at the surface of the first bag. A good bag should have a flat surface. No unnecessary seams, except the design. The surface should be a uniform color, without bubbles and exposed edges of the leather.
