Smyth was a little "out there" but the basis of his argument is true. Bush is ignoring facts and pursuing an agenda that doesn't make any sense. I think Bush is consumed with power and has lost touch (if he ever had it)with what his job is actually about.
December 13, 2007 / 10:51
Comparing Dubya to Hitler was insulting, offensive, and unfair. To Hitler.
I particularly liked the part when Smyth suggested Bush would do us all a favour by putting a bullet in his empty dome like Adolph. Classic!
December 13, 2007 / 10:54
While Bush's crimes don't come anywhere close to those of Hitler's (and it's sad that I have to qualify my statement by saying so) I have in the past seen the comparisons. Mostly in the way Both used propaganda to convince their people to follow them.
December 13, 2007 / 11:15
Way-to-go Smyth... That is funny funny funny ~ and oh so very true!
December 13, 2007 / 11:48
He didn't go too far at all. In fact, he didn't go far enough. Loved this comment!!!!
December 13, 2007 / 12:05
A typical liberal will always rely on the Hitler comparison when insulting a conservative. It’s tired and obviously wrong. For future reference, these libs may want to use dictators like Stalin or Mao who willed far more than Hitler.
When Iran does develop nuclear weapons in a few years (as the intelligence report states), Bush and his administration won’t look like the war mongers that they are perceived to be.
December 13, 2007 / 12:38
I'm no fan of Bush, but Dick Smythe is a moron. He is a hateful old fart that should have been put out to pasture a long time ago. He loves the sound of his own voice and says controversial things just to remind people that he is still alive. Thankfully, time will take care of that for us.
December 13, 2007 / 12:47
Where in the report does it state the future? And why does the U.S. get to pick and choose who gets nuclear weapons? North Korea has them and the U.S. isn't attacking them.
December 13, 2007 / 12:47
Score another in the "Dick Smyth is Irrelevant, and Possibly Nuts" column.
GWB may be a pantload, but to compare him with any Nazi is just more than a little much.
December 13, 2007 / 12:49
Argie you just made me laugh so hard they probably heard me in Texas.
It's funny how so many citizens of this planet still can't connect the dots.
Dick Smyth obviously has balls and 640 just scored a few points with me for allowing this to be aired.
Andrew's comments are on the money.
Argie, you should worry less about "typical Liberals" and more about typical lemmings.
Bush is a terrorist, he uses fear to get what he wants.
December 13, 2007 / 12:52
I agree with Argie (not very often) with his 2nd paragraph.
Bush may indeed be a fear monger and over the top with some of his (Cheney's) decisions. However, has the USA been subjected to any terrorist attacks since 911??? The answer is no and of course we can now debate all day why that is.
I'm for one believe that it has a lot to do with the unbelievable amount of money he is spending for security and the consistent trigger happy approach against terrorism (i.e. just give me any reason at all and I start another war).
Of course history will tell, long after Bush is gone. Let's hope he was wrong.
December 13, 2007 / 12:57
Andrew: This is from the report (link given below):
But the new assessment found Iran was continuing to develop technical means that could be used to build a bomb and it would likely be capable of producing enough enriched uranium for a nuclear weapon "sometime during the 2010-2015 time-frame."
http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20071203/ts_nm/iran_usa_dc
The liberal media always seem to leave that part out. Hmm....
As always the US has tried to negotiate with both N Korea & Iran. If those negotiations fail, an attack will be warranted. God bless America!
December 13, 2007 / 12:57
"And why does the U.S. get to pick and choose who gets nuclear weapons?"
Because apparently the US is SMRT and the UN isn't.
December 13, 2007 / 12:59
Smyth was on Oakley this morning and did apologizes for only the suicide portion but stood behind his comments.
John took about 5-6 calls
and I don't think anyone was upset by his comments this was a case of the politically correct
having nothing to to complain about.
My first thought when I heard his comment was "wow that was over the top" When I stopped and listed to it again
and listened to what HE was saying and not what I what I was interpreting it as
He made a lot of sense
and there is a lot of truth to what he said
December 13, 2007 / 13:05
The US is the only reliable world police unit. The UN’s ineptitude has allowed most of Africa to go into the toilet. They have failed to properly deal with the many corrupt leaders on that continent. Not to mention the fact that the UN is anti-US and anti-Israel and in many ways is also very corrupt.
December 13, 2007 / 13:54
Argie give me a break. It is not a reliable world police unit. The US picks and chooses it's fights that benefit themselves and no one else. You want to talk about ineptitude shall we visit YOUTUBE to watch the video of Cheney talking how going into Iraq would be a huge mistake 10 years ago. I think the quote was it would be a quagmire of sectarian violence if we went in there. You want to talk about Liberals using hitler haha the conservatives use it just as freely. The states receives intelligence reports that there are no weapons and what does Bush do walks right over it and say that doesn't matter we're going after the buggers anyways.
Bob - just because the states hasn’t been attacked isn't a result of increased security. Travel enough and you’ll realize there are still many loop holes in security It was possible right after 911 to blow up a plane using liquids the terrorists just never decided to use it at that point. Remember the states created this mess themselves, they put both Bin Laden and Sadam into positions of power, pets who then turned on their masters and then they had to try and fix it. Problem is they put Sadam in power and he bullied the shit out of Iran so Iran was never a problem. No Sadam, now Iran is a problem.
Argie as for your perception that the UN is Anti American and anti Israel, you have to remember it was the UN that it was the UN that protected Israel after the World Wars and helped set them up. I have mixed feelings on Israel because on the one hand how must it be for such s small country to be surrounded by half dozen more countries that want to see you wiped off the map. I have always been behind Israel in the fact that if they are attacked hell yeah they should fight back an eye for an eye in that part of the world because lets face it the rest of the Middle East would like to see genocide take place on Israel. Yet they have overstepped their boundaries for years after not giving back the land the gained in the war over 30 years ago.
Just some videos to show that this administration does what it wants and once proven wrong doesn't care.

December 13, 2007 / 14:02
Argie reliable police unit? Only for themselves the rest of the world isn't their problem they care only about themselves. I wrote a tonne more in regards to your other comments but it has been sent in for review from Fred. Africa has and will always be a toilet. UN can't go in and protect everyone there too many self proclaimed freedom fighters waiting to get into power and pull the same atrocities.
December 13, 2007 / 14:23
Frank: I can’t wait for your comments……
The US is the world police, like it or not. As their neighbors we should thank God they are the police. An attack on us would be responded swiftly and firmly by the big bad US. Bush may appear to be a buffoon but his country protects their interests and we, Canada, happen to be one of them. You might want to say ‘thank you America’ once in a while.
It was the US that stopped the Germans & Japs in WWII. It was the US that ended communism in the Russia. I’m betting it will be the US that stops North Korea, Iran and any other regime that has designs on another country.
December 13, 2007 / 14:30
Frank, are you actually defending the UN? Ok, set aside all of the incredible lapses in judgement on behalf of the UN where Africa is concerned. Have you forgotten the "oil-for-food" scandal? How about transporting palestinian terroists away in a UN Ambulance after they killed 6 Israeli soldiers? How about establishing a Human Rights commission that has, as members, some of the worlds worst human rights violators? What about the Srebrenica massacre where the UN stood (their forces were not allowed to use force) by while 8,000 men and boys were murdered. The list literally goes on and on. Say what you will about the US, but the UN is a diseased, dysfunctional organization by any standard.
December 13, 2007 / 14:35
Are you serious Argie? I think you should go live in the bible belt down south. Big saviours those states are saving Russia I wouldn't credit The States as the reason why the Kremlin fell. Once again they pick and choose, China is allowed to roam free as a communist country yet they want Cuba freed, take this overblown bias somewhere else.
The states did not single handedly win WWII they dealt with Japan as was necessary in reataliation. You belittle the actions of Canada and Britain in the War by saying it was the states that stopped the Germans. North Korea isn't really a worry to the world especially the US. The US just doesn't want them to have nuclear weapons. Mean while somewhere else in the world the US doesn't give two @#$ts that Pakistan has nuclear weapons.
Do you just visit every Right wing blog and history book possible to come up with the crap you do?
December 13, 2007 / 14:49
Jason said:
Bush is a terrorist, he uses fear to get what he wants.
Replace Bush with Gore and you can sum up the environMENTAL agenda.
December 13, 2007 / 14:52
Frank: Do you honestly believe the US should try to stop China? We’d be in a huge world war likely to result with the end of the world. Do you really want that?
If the US had their way they wouldn’t want any country to have nuclear weapons including their allies. Pakistan and N Korea developed their weapons in quick manner under the useless watch of the UN and a weak US president (Clinton).
As much as I appreciate the efforts and accomplishments of the Canadian & British forces (my grandfather was one of them), it was the US that stopped the Germans. London was almost flattened and devastated but it was the US that stopped the German advance. There’s no debate there buddy.
December 13, 2007 / 15:02
Argie....I never realized how brainwashed you were. You're just another zombie on this planet that people like Bush rely on for support.
Maybe you should expand your brain a little and see what is really going on.
December 13, 2007 / 15:09
Trent: You’re just another anti-American Canuck clone, with the attitude that I’m so upset my neighbour is bigger, stronger, smarter and richer than me that all I can do is insult them.
December 13, 2007 / 15:15
Some would argue argie that the russians did more than the americans. As the entire german force setnt to Stalingrad was vanquished. But then agian it was all the Americans. Because years later the Americans brought freedom to the russians and therefore in so fact to the Americans inherited the Russian victory there. Sorry I didn't see it before it's all so clear now God Bless America.
December 13, 2007 / 15:31
Argie,
Please remember when the US entered WWII. ONLY when they were attacked. Did the war turn when they did enter, yes and I am grateful that they did but it was a few years late. But better late than never.
What about Bin Laden? If Bush is so concerned why not find him. He has been quoted as saying, "I don't think about him. I don't care." He is supposed to be the big bad threat. I think I would want my leader caring.
December 13, 2007 / 15:47
Andrew your comment falls on deaf ears as a new convert of the I believe USA is glorious in all it's ways fan club. I will receive my badge saying I'm a member from Argie in the next 6-8 weeks.
December 13, 2007 / 15:50
Andrew by the way if my long comment ever gets posted I said exacltly what you did and a little more. I also included the links to oyur quote along with others. But long live the USA, all hail the second coming of jesus in his human form George W. Bush. I will goose step from this day forward.
December 13, 2007 / 16:01
Frank: I'm currently laughing out loud.
December 13, 2007 / 16:07
I admit the US is a power. But a power used unilaterally is dangerous. the UN may not be perfect, but it is more representative of a global mindset than the US is. To have any world power acting on it's own interests is dangerous. To your point regarding the UN's ineptitude in Africa, you maybe right, but I haven't seen the "World Police do much about it either". Now's not a time to be divissive, now's the time for the world's leaders to stick together.
December 13, 2007 / 16:17
Which part did you laugh Argie. I'll try to make you laugh again.
December 13, 2007 / 17:36
This administration has ruined the credibility of America for the foreseeable future. I can’t let Bush off the hook for letting this happen, but Cheney and the boys are the evil empire.
The WMD intelligence is old hat, but what happened once the US occupied Iraq was a real shock and ah for them wasn’t it?
Please take a look at this nugget, as Mr. Cheney is far more astute than he would lead you to believe.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YENbElb5-xY
I’ll lay off the war crimes
Can’t wait for Taxi to the Dark Side to come to theatres, can I buy you a ticket Argie? You can hold my hand through the ugly bits.
December 13, 2007 / 17:40
Hes on the money and i give him full marks for being up front and honest. George Bush and this administration is power hungry, he vetos bills for childrens health care yet spends 1 billion a day in Iraq on private contractors that are getting paid double what our military soldiers get, he pisses on the environment with his environmental record, he stands up for big industry, the rich and big oil companies instead of taxing them, and he opposes better healthcare for all which would to be essentially mean going to a not for profit system. Its truly pathetic that this administration is still in power. I havent even mention the whole torture thing that is going on right now.
December 13, 2007 / 21:23
What's that old debating rule? First one to use the Hitler/Nazi argument loses?
December 14, 2007 / 05:58
Argie: You called me an anti-American Canuck clone....I didn't make one anti-American comment.
You also suggested that I insulted the US becasue they are bigger and stronger and smarter and gosh darn, people love them! I never said anything like that.
You just proved again how moronic and brainwashed you are.
By the way...I am an American....you moron.
December 14, 2007 / 09:32
Trent: You must be the exception to the rule that most Americans are friendly and intelligent. You must be from the inner-city, no?
December 14, 2007 / 10:09
You're right Argie....most Americans are friendly....but intelligent???? Come on!!
December 15, 2007 / 23:45
Yes Dick Smyth may have gone overboard with his comment. Just a little though.
And while I don't agree that Hitler like (George)Bush should kill himself(I'm not a George Bush fan by the way), he probably said that tongue-in-cheek.Smyth wanted to prove a point and he certainly did that with his commentary.
